hey ive worked at a hotel for eleven years in a kinda busy downtown area. The hotel staff definitely printed the key for those drunk guys im assuming they tried their key on your room getting the number wrong. What happens is the drunk person comes to the desk and says my keys for 225 are not working its then on the desk clerk to check id and name on the room number 225 basicly like say the drunk people are actually in 224 and are mistaken. If the staff are kinda bad at what they are doing they will just say ok sir here is your key without checking. This happens all the time with new employee's also if after they used their new key on your door your original key ceases to work is how its supposed to work so if after they used theirs on your door yours stopped working its def that
