I'm from Russia and i just wanted to say that we are against the war.
We woke up on February 24th and were just as shocked as the rest of the world. What happens in Ukraine is awful and heartbreaking. We want this to stop and we try to do anything we can for government to hear us. The whole world is already cancelled our country and we will be suffering for that for a long time. In the way, we're guilty for not standing for ourself all these years, for letting our president to be omnipitent. We were scared to fight for our rights and here are the consequences...A pointless war made by one man's choice that leads to thousands of deaths( both sides). Unbelievable nightmare.

But i am personally scared of violance in every way. I do my best with discussing the problem in public and helping to funds. But i cannot go outside praying for violance or jail ( which is inevitable). I want a normal life just as all of you and i am truly guilty about it...Hope this will stop as soon as possible. There is actually a video of the lady talking to the Russian soldier, I may me wrong but I’m fairly confident that’s why it became so large of a media piece was because there was a video of her doing it.
Yeah, actually there are conversations about whether that can violate the 3rd Geneva convention since there is a clause in there protecting POWs from "public curiosity", and Human Rights Watch is saying that posting videos of POWs online is solely out of making them a spectacle.

@@choccymilkconnoisseur2775 It was definitely real. Thankfully, all 13 soldiers were taken by Russia alive. Just because they were eventually captured doesn't mean they didn't do what the could to fight back. This was before Russia was indiscriminately bombing buildings and people.

As a Ukrainian, I commend you guys for actually taking the time to research and understand what is going on.
I understand that it’s disheartening to learn that really cool stories seem to be fake, but…
- the snake island thing seems to be true, meaning that they did say “russian warship go fuck yourself” and there was a fight right afterwards. Wether the soldiers surrendered or were taken in to captivity after defeat is unknown. But, we do know that they were tortured pretty badly upon being taken.
- The video with the grandma also seems to be real, I mean its an actual video of what happened with specifics on the situation, idk how this could be fake unless someone hired actors and made them record shit on the second day of war on a well known plaza

Noel is right in the sense that American public won’t be able to comprehend what it means for a Ukrainian to give up their land. It’s not an insult, it’s just the way it is, because of the different historical events. Americans never had to fight for their land, although I won’t say it was granted them without a struggle. Ukrainians are the nation of warriors who have been fending of their piece of land for ages. As a matter of fact, Ukraine and Russia do share a common ancestor-nation, which indeed originated from the land of modern Ukraine. However, Ukraine never said that Russia is a Ukraine knock-off, just fought for its open recognition. Russia, instead, decided to take a bloody, barbaric path of invasive war, which never ended successfully for engine if you look at recent history.
This all is just to say that giving up on Donbas and Crimea will set a precedent for giving up more land later on. Russia will not stop, it has been proven so many times.

Western média has also reported that there is immense propaganda coming from ukraine. There's a video of snake Island and the ghost of kiev, doesn't mean it's real. We are still learning about the truth of what happened during the most recent azerbaijan aggression against armenia. the propaganda situation reminds me similar to Ukraine (only they have completely different geopolitical histories), but Armenia on twitter was making out that they were winning all that time. this was not the case sadly. video footage needs to be examined over years to understand more what happened during a war. all russian soldiers are wearing body cameras iirc, I expect it will be examined by independent bodies after the war

I gotta seriously disagree with Cody, Ukraine shouldn't have to compromise or give up anything, they're their own country, their own culture, and can join NATO and/or the EU if the majority votes to do so, imo Putin has zero claim to any part of them.
He didn’t even say they should do that or that that’s the correct thing that should happen, he simply said maybe that’s their only option to stop all the death.

Ukraine deserves to be in NATO, but by allowing the country to join now would mean WW3, as Russia would then be directly fighting the major nations as well. It’s a very complicated situation.
Some of you guys obviously know nothing about the situation, which is fine if you're like 20 years or younger, but not as an adult. Sorry, but for one that's not living in a material world, you can keep saying that while knowing every day you're agreeing with more and more innocent Ukrainians being caught in the cross fire from a prolonged war they have no hope in winning.
2, NO country should be allowed to join nato if you truly have a moral compass. Do you know what even nato is?? Basically every single revolutionary movement and country has had a main policy of being anti-nato, they are the most imperialist organisation in the planet that has caused countless, unaccountable suffering in the middle east and africa. the head of nato was high up general in nazi Germany, their whole purpose is to hold onto western imperialism and "stop communism".
Nato is responsible for the totally carpet bombed libya, they even tried to go to the UN who told them to do one, but then nato countries went ahead and bombed libya anyway. that wasn't even long ago, during the obama administration. you are still occupying countries in the middle east and causing crimes against humanity. not even just in bombings, but warfare includes the strangulation of African economies, IMF loans, sanctions. you are basically saying "any country should have the right to be a part of a fascist military alliance that bombs poorer countries to destabilise them and ruin millions of lives". it is not that simple, and let's be honest Ukraine will not win the war, unless we are pulled into ww3 - in which case we all will be bombed to shit. America has no place in diplomacy regarding this, countries without a bloodstained reputation need to be mediating in the middle. Once you are in nato, the US is allowed to put nuclear missiles in your country. the US has known for a long time Russia would eventually snap, read up numerous foreign policy advisors to the White House that have been at odds about this for the past 20 years. there is video footage of Biden saying expanding nato to the baltic states is the only thing that would make Russia respond military from years ago. I cannot possibly write about the fascist project which is nato in depth, but I recommend you read about it from African scholars, for example - Walter Rodney
@C. V. It's not as 1: eu has apologised for false promises to Ukraine to join nato - nato decides who joins nato.

Nato was started to prevent the spread of communism, look at a map and see that all nato bases surround Russia completely, nato bases can have nuclear missiles installed on them and the ones that do are obviously pointed towards Russia. this has been warned against by numerous top foreign policy advisors over 20 years, history can't be erased and this was warned about constantly. the Cuban missile crisis nearly caused a nuclear war - that was just one country and the US could not accept it. yet all these nato bases surrounding Russia - and for what?? are people in Ukraine dying for a good cause?? for nato, that's apparently a justified cause to you that shouldn't be compromised?? and the millions of lives ruined in the middle east and killed because of nato, do their lives not matter? nato stagnating Africa's economy doesn't matter? nato is apparently something a country should have a right to joining - even if it is a fascist, imperialist organisation, even ran by a high up German nazi for part of it. Being a chauvinist means nothing if there aren't results, diplomacy is not dealt with that way and the real world is very different rather than supporting carrying on a painful war for no reason.

Ghost of Kyiv was never called real, the snake island soldiers did tell the Russian ship to fuck off, but then apparently were captured but were assumed dead for a few days, dunno which old lady you mean, but if it’s the sunflower one I don’t think anyone’s proved it was fake, and the fire at the nuclear plant was real from what I can tell. There’s a lot of fake info generated in wartime, but just vaguely mentioning events as fake is not very helpful. I know it’s just a casual thing, but still

Who was left surrendered after they were bombarded into submission. Also shooting down 6 planes is not unrealistic considering how were russians pushing at the begining. Highest jet ace has 17 kills so you can do 3times more than 6 kills and german ace Hartmann had 352 kills in ww2.

Ok what the fuck ahah I always supported Cody and Noel through and through but saying that Ukrainian stories are propaganda is literally insane. All those stories are real, they have become our national phrases and moments (“Russian military ship, go fuck yourself” , the man that single handedly picked up a mine and moved it, the grandma that gave seeds to a Russian soldier saying that “once you die, at least you’ll have sunflowers grow out of your corpse”) that are ALL REAL. Calling everything propaganda because the US is so fucking oversaturated with content is such bullshit. I personally expected more from Cody who himself has Polish roots, and could contribute more to this situation like any ignorant person across the world would.
I can see how it happened, twitter is a nightmare rn. This was most likely recorded when that shit first the fan judging on what they're talking about, twitter was completely ransacked overnight by Russian propaganda and misinformation purposely designed to confuse people exactly like this.

I'm sorry for everything you guys have to go through and I understand how them calling out propaganda personally affects you... but that doesn't mean that everything from the ukrainian side is 100% true. It's just classic war stories. Anytime there is a war, people start talking about mythological legendary figures such as the ghost of kyiv etc. It's very normal. They do not mean anything negatively about Ukraine when they say that. Trust me almost everyone is completely on Ukraine's side. However, this does not mean that everything coming from Ukrainian official sources is automatically true. Like, I completely understand why you feel like it is, but that's exactly why propaganda is so effective. There is definitely an information war going on right now with some very bold crazy lies being published as truth from both sides.
Real events can still be propaganda, and it is.

I'm very against the war. What Russia is doing is not defensible.
On the other hand, I am Serbian, and NATO bombed Serbia in the 90s and 00s. Serbia was blamed for the entirety of the Yugoslav wars, and declared genocidal, in a war where everyone was equally brutal and guilty. But the people of those nations (Serbia,Croatia,Bosnia, etc.) least of all. I'm with Ukraine, of course, but NATO is the one that's been cooking this conflict up for 20+ years. They have Zelenski, the puppet president fighting against a literal post-Soviet Sith lord. I feel bad, but I cannot stand with NATO's condemnation of Russia for the same thing NATO did to us (bombing the capital city and 4000+ innocent civilians, including "Dragisa Misovic" maternity ward). They also condemn Russia for holding on to Crimea, yet they removed Kosovo from Serbia on a lesser basis. That's it. Hope y'all understand, and let there be peace...
