Lyrics:
Got ‘im right between the shoulders
And the bull loses blood
No fight left to give
Can’t pull his head up
Comfort fools us into faith
then fate pulls us away again
a corpse with a spirit
got out of my bed today
Bottles call you from their
seats on the choir riser
laid on my back in the
tepid bath tub water
The ache of the wind on the windows
The blood under the bridge
and the stadium crowd
charges the bull
…
Wind changed pitch as the bridge went by
the lightning comes up from the ground and goes up to the sky
Poured one out for all my guys
The tiny monuments get propped up on the roadside
Believe me, believer
Passed out on a couch at a New Years party
I sat on the stairs with a never ending nosebleed
You were playing Mortal Kombat
God, make me good but not quite yet
Believe me, Believer
Finish him

Her scream is all the anguish I’ve ever felt in my life
I am 65. This is such a breath of fresh air. Chills....
I'm so happy a bunch of kids in the south are making music like this. All is not lost.
A lot of the greatest music out there come from places where there's literally nothing else to do. :)
Is the North Carolina the south? I think it's more of the Northeast. But maybe it's a mix of the two? Kind of like Virginia.
@@WHOAM1894Yeah in Alabama North Carolina Is North but it’s definitely south side of the Mason Dixon line. So the South.
@@WHOAM1894 very much southern culture
ciertamente.....🤘!
I have no idea how they manage to sound so clean and so dirty at the same time. It's awesome.
Yo fr
Yeah, this is going on the Crash Bandicoot: Wrath of Cortex playlist
"music that makes me audibly go "WOAH" in a goofy, high-pitched voice playlist"
"Whoahh" -Crash Bandicoot
Can I get a link to this Crash Bandicoot playlist
Imma need a link to the Crash Bandicoot playlist too
Saw them live last night and she performed it spot on to this and even better. It was amazing. Great new band. Hope for them to get more recognition
I just found out about this band the other day when my daughter invited me to go see them next week. This song is insane and I'm obsessed!!
Going to see them live in a few months time. Can't wait.
I have tickets to see them live in May and am really looking forward to seeing how Karly replicates that cascade of screams at the end.
My favorite-ever DJ, Don Slack, retired last night after decades on KEXP in Seattle. He said that this was going to be the last song he played to kill off his DJ persona, but his wife convinced him it would be too intense or something like that. So, we're here this morning--whoa!
This is the most incredible emotional journey of a song I have heard in a long time. So freakin good
I agree
You need to listening to Black Country New Road then or Black Midi
sorry to hear that you're 12
@@bkbj8282what’s your best song then?
@@D3adToraX I dont think ive ever commented on any videos on this youtube account over a span of maybe 20 years. But I just had to tell you that you're wrong. Thanks
Who else started rocking back n forth while internally screaming with those last 2 minutes?
hearing so many sounds pulled together and executed so perfectly is something rare these days, major respect, stunned
Yes! I love it. The joy to find a new band never fades, I've been doing it for 50 years 😂 Thanks guys
This song reminds me so much of Pixies and PJ Harvey in their Steve Albini era. It’s just so insanely good I’m obsessed 😍
I’d love for Steve Albini to produce their next record it would be so sick, but I’m also open to the new generation just doing their thing
I wouldn't be surprised if this was written after learning to play Bull in the Heather by the Breeders
They do have a Pixies sound. This song is amazing.
I was blessed to know Moris Tepper for a short time in my life. He did a lot of guitar tracking for Pixies back in the day as a studio musician. What he told me about working with them and the stuff he showed me sonically will forever be imprinted subconsciously and unintentionally on the stuff I work on, and I'm very happy for it. There's songs on this album and things about their sound that remind me of nights in LA with that gentleman when he taught me so much me about music, gardening, and life that today I'm starting to yet still don't understand. It's like this song was a part of my life before I ever heard it and at this point I've said too much tbh. This song hit different and this album is a record
Can you imagine Wednesday and Thursday touring together? It would be awesome!
Best epic song of at least the past 10 years, can't think of any other that reached this level of intensity!
@@hannhaslide Excellent suggestion, didn't know them, but diving into their material right now 🙂
@@hannhaslide you should listen to Thinking of a Place by The War on Drugs, also a full on experience/journey of a song
basketball shoes by black country new road

They smashed the entire Shoegaze scene since ever one heard the Twilight at Carbon Lake by Deerhunter which has the same vibes. Just outrageous and beautiful. If you never heard about deerhunter, microcastle is so recomended
LITERAL CHILLS!!!!! I had this emotional connection with the ending!! I have been blasting them ever since I saw them open for beach bunny!!
I've watched this like 20 times. This is a video I'm going to come back to again and again over the years. So unique, emotional, satisfying. Yay for art!
My vote for best song of 2023. Reminds me of peak Sonic Youth--the episodic structure, the beautiful dissonances, the raw intensity.
I could definitely go for a 10 hour loop of Karly gigglescreaming over guitar annihilation.
I'm in love with this one. Insane run... last 2 minutes are just a tour de force.
the melodies are haunting in this one, just an incredibly unique song with weirdly fitting vocals. not to mention the ending...
This song is so good it feels like the 2000's
It is the 2000's
90s
@@Staypift Wow, THAT's how good the song is! 😆
The Breeders were in the 90's fyi.
How they pull off mixing Southern music and grunge, IDK. Bigfoot in the background kills me every time I watch this. Amazing tune!
90s grunge is proud of their baby. This one is gonna do some great things.
i haven't been able to listen to this song yet without tears welling up in my eyes around the 6:07 mark . so excited for this album, so love wednesday the band :'''P
that tension. Incredible when done right.
I just realized that's when she quotes the video game verbatim.
It's a bit ironic that the funniest and most emotionally intense parts coincide with each other.
@@glc0stanza definitely done right !!
I don't give new music a chance very much, I'm pretty picky and set in my ways ...but somehow this came on and it became one of those powerful musical tractor beam moments where everything else ceases to exist and I was fully enthralled by the surprisingly evocative magic here that I found to be a vibe I apparently needed in my life.... It snuck up on me. Thanks for the unexpected intense feels. Y'all have become the excitingly rare new addition to my very particular esoteric regular listening mix.
Been following this band for awhile but this song made me write a whole damn love letter to the person I’m talking to at 3am while she’s asleep so idk if that’s what these guys were going for but it worked so well, just wow
Hope for the best
@@Rokonox it actually worked she said she felt the same way lol, we were already talking like that though but this song just did something to me
WTF how am I just hearing about this song? My best bud and I often joke about how much we love outros, and this is one of the best I've heard in a long time. Will definitely be checking out more by this band.
I put the 2nd half on repeat maybe 20 times in a row. This is gonna be in the rotation for a long while, such a beautifully, intensely haunting song
Quite original and creative song yet expressive and emotional. Really powerful. Aesthetics are great too. I like it a lot.
Man your guys music is just so good!!! I'm 38 and this just takes me back to the 90s for some reason 🤙🤙
Wednesday stays criminally underrated 🤟🏽
One of the most incredible songs I've heard in a long, long time. I cried at the end. Absolutely fucking amazing. I haven't heard pure, raw, unbridled energy like this since the 90s
The vocalist cried too.
This is among the best things Ive ever heard. Right in the feels.
literally like the best song i've ever heard
I had this song in the background and wasn't paying that much attention. Then the screaming began, holy fucking shit, that was brutal.
Finish him!!
SICK guitar part, and it's always nice when a new song lasts longer than 2 minutes lol
I’m a sucker for 90s era pastiche when it’s done right, and this is done right ☺️
I remember years back hoping bands like Title Fight and Basement would revitalize grunge - now that time has finally come and it's better than I could have imagined
This song is absolutely incredible
Those last four minutes of are pure bliss.
This heavier sound suits you so so well
I like everything about this. The creative purity, the trippy visuals. A lot of smart choices were made on all levels. Didn't think I'd make it through the full running time, but I was captivated throughout. Keep up the good work, I'm definitely going to check out your other stuff.
As someone who remembers the 90s, I find it super weird that this sound is cool again. The song is epic though.
Wow, one of the best songs I've heard in a while.
0:34 I just realized this is probably the Twin Plagues album cover photo location
Just came on randomly. Im washing up in the setting sun here in Ireland and danced my ass off. Gave me that feeling I had sometimes in the 90s as a teen when I heard something I didnt quite understand but instantly knew I loved and would find out all the records secrets later on. First time ever hearing this or this band. Great stuff 👍
Well put. How I just felt catching the tail end of the song here in the Mdwest of the U.S.
The verse reminds me of something off "What Would The Community Think" by Catpower. The chorus is so epic. Love this band.
yes!!
Definitely got some old Cat Power vibes.
the ending feels like a mental breakdown, I feel it
the world needs more songs like this
just type '90's indie' in the search bar.
Look up "Tiger Tank" by Speedy Ortiz. 👍
First time hearing this I'd fallen asleep with a playlist... nearly fell out of bed in fright! Now though, got to be my track of the year. Love all these musicians and their sound together. I feel like they are playing from the heart. Can't wait to hear what they do next.
Thanks a million, Wednesday! x
Congrats on dead oceans, you guys deserve the best to come. :)
this is singlehandedly the best video i've seen in at least 5 years
the amount of emotions i experienced watching this is unreal
Woah this is a cool music video!
That ending is breathtaking.
Heard/ was introduced to this on WXPN earlier today. Wow! Music should be THIS challenging every now and again.
These guys definitely listen to Sonic Youth
yea, that's exactly what i thought 👍
Been jamming to this everyday!!!! Rock on, Wednesday!!!, ROCK ON!!
I just learned of them via another band’s fan FB page. I’m completely enamored! And seriously bummed that they have toured within a simple drive for me a few months ago, and I was unaware.
Not anymore…
Heard this live.. so glad it’s out now. 🔥
Best song of the year. It remembers me by Indigo De Souza.
Insane. So good. One of my favorite bands y’all have such contagious energy I love it :,)
Came here from viewing the new Protomartyr. Really glad I did. Love this. 🖤
This MTV2 era vibes - love it.
This song is so intense. I listen to the end every time.
Heard about them on NPR on Sunday. They're so good!
That ending, wow!! You guys rock so very much. Can't wait to hear more
Yes, that part was goosebump material!
yeah the song ending was the best part of it. golden silence!
what it sounds like when your niece discovers pixies and sonic youth in the same year.
I saw them live in Toronto 2022 just b4 the summer..they played this tune live..i bought a cassette cause they were by far the best band
Same!!! I came to the show just for them and was so happy, bought a cassette and a tee. Hope you're coming out to the see them again in June like I am 😉❤️
This is a masterpiece
I agree.
@@jxschv1316 Thought the same thing after the ending. I felt like an absolute monster possessed.
wow, stumbled upon this and it was one of the most unique and creative things I've seen in a long time.
Razor sharp DIY emo with intellegent dynamic changes and post-rock intensity. Keep this fucking sound. This incomparable to anything else. Build on this.
This band is at 90% to starting an era defending sound.
Folkgaze
its called the 90s
@@Buzzhead_Republic the 90’s percent will be the name of this new era.
Bringing one back… I’d say. But it sounds fresh
We really need one. I'd hate to look back at the 2020s and go, "Oh yeah, the Ed Sheeran years".
you made my day. the coda is sublime, I was jaw dropping. thank you guys.
the most talented band i've ever seen
Sooo good y’all are insane
im glad there are bands out there who i can scream through
Breeders 2.0. As much as I love them, hope y'all do more with it. Song is amazing!
I know I'm not the same now after listening to this.
I can say without a doubt that you've earned the respect and admiration of Frances Quinlan. F'ing awesome!
Hard to find kids this age- as creative as Wednesday is as a band. Such conviction to craft!
No it's not you just have shite taste in music. Practice a lot and listen to lots of different kinds of music. This is a rehash of shit you've already heard a million times if you just explore different kinds of music.
The ending is how I feel every bloody day man
I love that this is 5mins of dreamy psychotic MBV vibes followed by 3mins of heart wrenching screaming.
Song of the decade
This is amazing.
Love the grunginess!
The intesity of the last 2 mins reminded me of Rubber by YUCK!
Music made for driving, burnt out on a rainy night :,)
thank You so much for this song
First (wednesday fucks and are criminally underrated)
estou completamente apaixonada pela música de vocês!
I C O N I C video
Couldn’t help but sob when y’all played this one at Motorco. Keep screamin! 🪱
I'm obsessed with this song. I hope to god you guys find success! Xo from Boston
Absolutely stunning
Goosebumps for 6 minutes straight. Good job musicwise
Holy shit this is seriously one of the best songs I’ve heard this decade
Love this Project.
when i listen to this song when im out i can't wait to get home just to watch the music video..... something magical happened on this album its so blissful
Thank you!!!
Anyone feeling a Pixies vibe with this band? Nowadays, its hard to find someone who knows the Pixies in Germany
I hear Pixies in a lot of their songs. This one I hear Sonic Youth and Mercury Rev towards the end.
@@allenmorrisson245 or Breeders
@@allenmorrisson245 who is the best post punk new wave punk band ever? Or even now? Do you know built to spill?
@dogmafilm33 I don't know the answer to that first one. I've been My Bloody Valentine obsessed a very long time.i saw Built To Spill multiple times back in the 90's. Grifters recommended them to me.
@@allenmorrisson245 bloody Valentine is beautiful shoegaze. Do you know cocteau twins?
I'm obsessed with this song right now.
Didn’t know two frances quinlan caliber voices could exist simultaneously in this plane of reality
