Even though this one isn't as good as the first, I do like that LaFlamme's character arch was completed. Him getting the clutch assist for versus getting the game winning goal himself made me smile.
I happily agree but not completely. This last ending, that last moment knowing he throws that last haymaker was hard coming to terms that his life needs to move on with his real team. That alone put this movie on par with the first. But the first was the best.
I'd like to see a 3rd film, where modern science fixes Glatt's shoulder and the Highlanders go the distance in the playoffs and win the cup. A fitting ending with Glatt's family (and his kid) seeing him win a trophy.
Dude what if the third film takes place when Doug’s kid is playing and he is just as good as laflamme but not tough and Doug teaches him how to fight and defend himself against goons.
I like how people think this was a sport and not just fully fucking insane like Yh you can fight as much as you want but only if you take your gloves off first like it’s fucking mental how this was even conceived as a sport
I love how Ross and Doug have kind of an Apollo/Rocky relationship. Like yeah they were enemies, but the respect was always there, so then becoming friends makes sense. I honestly just really like the progression of this entire sequel. Xavier and Doug’s friendship is so much stronger. Fergie being their medic and Ogilvey becoming a coach both just make perfect sense.
I wish they had the same director and writer from the first one this one at times feels like a comedy and the first one was all serious fighting and real hockey playing this one is just brutal gory fighting
If Im not mistaken both movies were written/directed by that scrawny, weird looking guy. In the first movie he had a hockey fights website. Also the guy who plays Weasel in Deadpool, I think he wrote a lot of this movie. Hes a sports newscaster in it.
@@LgWilly744 yea I didn’t recognize him until like mid second episode and was suprised lol I just hope people don’t hate on the actor instead of the character
Goon 3. Gets an offer to play NHL hockey leading up to a final battle against Tom Wilson. He retires again and they hang #69 from the rafters after his team goes on to win the cup
Words can't express how happy I am to see Shawn Michael Scott escape the type casted "Stifler". Hopefully he will be around for a long time and continue making great movies.
@@russellsherwood1491 Pretty sure a prime Rhea would beat Glatt too. The way Rhea is portrayed in these films, he's better than all real life NHL enforcers.
While people were making fun of how Wyatt Russell looked in the Captain America suit at the beginning of Falcon and the Winter Soldier, I knew he would deliver because of this movie.
"It's never over. We're gonna do this night after night...game after f%ing game... Do you hear me, Doug? *Game* after F%ING game...!" He just doesn't know when to give up, does he? I'm glad Doug punched Anders in the face but it almost cost him his right arm yet he threw it out. Not just for Ross, but for his team and especially his family. Righteously, he chose mercy over revenge.
Even in Real Hockey there's a fine line but I love the Goon movies because anything goes 😊 its funny and absolutely hilariously bloody and brutal I love that Crack by Rhea to Caine... "you want some point break"? 😆
I love this movie but you stand there in a state for 5s you aren't doing anything other than getting stripped of the puck. And Rhea would have listened to his coach.
They took everything good about the first movie and threw it right out the window. Didn’t need a sequel either the only highlight of this is seeing Rhea and Glatt on the same team

I thought I saw a movie rental box for a movie about a whole team being like the Hanson brothers from Slap Shot and I thought it was based on a real team. Does that sound familiar?
"I'm doing whatever my team needs me to do."
Best line.
Even though this one isn't as good as the first, I do like that LaFlamme's character arch was completed. Him getting the clutch assist for versus getting the game winning goal himself made me smile.

Yep and him and Doug become really good buddies.
That's an understatement the first is arguably the best hockey movie of all time while the 2nd is like Slapshot 3 lol.
"Hey which one you want? I want the big one.. Ah fuck it I want both of them." Based Rhea.
"Coach said don't look for shit, that's shit!." I laughed so hard when I heard that the first time lol
LaFlamme, Glatt AND Rhea?
Man those Highlanders were STACKED.
Two enforcers starting on the first line at the beginning of the game, red flag right there.
its like the game a couple years back when both teams started the 4th lines its like uh oh
Vancouver vs Calgary in like 2013
theyre called goons
I like how Doug's team stood by him. This scene hit home.
It's no Hollywood bs either. You take a cheap shot at even the most hated player, believe the entire bench is coming for you. It's awesome
Wyatt Russell plays a pyschopath better than anyone
This comment will age really well kid. Currently playing US agent Captain America
He was great in lodge 49 too.
@@spudward6902 and in black mirror too
i realize I'm quite off topic but do anybody know of a good place to watch newly released tv shows online ?
I don’t think he was a psychopath at all, he was neglected and had daddy issues by the looks of it…
Stevenson's side story is one of the best things about this film. A journeyman gone good and gets the winning goal.
These movies have no business being as good as they are
I'd like to see a 3rd film, where modern science fixes Glatt's shoulder and the Highlanders go the distance in the playoffs and win the cup. A fitting ending with Glatt's family (and his kid) seeing him win a trophy.
And he fights Ryan Reaves or some other big enforcer from the nhl
these fictional characters are way stronger than ryan
Dude what if the third film takes place when Doug’s kid is playing and he is just as good as laflamme but not tough and Doug teaches him how to fight and defend himself against goons.
What an utterly worthless movie that would be.
Bring Jared Kesso in as the bad guy in the next one.
Reminds me of the Red Wings and Avalanche games in the 90s. Real blood on the ice and real hatred. Old time hockey.
Best hockey ever between those two teams
I thought the Battle of Alberta was good also (I think it still is)
Watching Lemuix turtle like a little school girl at the hands of McCarty has played in my head for 20+ years.
Like Eddie Shore
I like how people think this was a sport and not just fully fucking insane like Yh you can fight as much as you want but only if you take your gloves off first like it’s fucking mental how this was even conceived as a sport
Is no one just going to talk about how cracked LaFlamme is at ice hokey
8:03 my reaction to Doug breaking his ankle in the first goon

Part of me likes to imagine Wolverine and Sabertooth did this to pass the time in between fighting the wars they were in.
Seems like something theyd do i mean who makes a better enforcer than a guy with a healing factor and bones nobody out there is breaking anytime soon
shut up bro
Captain America already getting his ass kicked
😑 U hate the actor?
@@crimxhi Not at all. Completely the opposite
You mean U.S Agent
5:43 laflamme defending rhea 🙌🏼
It all comes full circle doesn't it? Especially with Rhea as a Highlander for the last game
I wish they had the same director and writer from the first one this one at times feels like a comedy and the first one was all serious fighting and real hockey playing this one is just brutal gory fighting
For sure. This one was kinda silly.
If Im not mistaken both movies were written/directed by that scrawny, weird looking guy. In the first movie he had a hockey fights website. Also the guy who plays Weasel in Deadpool, I think he wrote a lot of this movie. Hes a sports newscaster in it.
This is based on a book about a real life minor league hockey player/goon.
Jay Baruchel is a co-writer on both, and directs the second. It's why it's not 'totally' off, but the second definitely feels different.
@@hectorrico8661 Very loosely based, about as accurate as that POS movie based on Saints coach during his year suspension.
Wyatt Russell is so badass in this scene. I can see now why Marvel picked him as John Walker. 👊
He looks so different in that with no beard and a haircut
It's cool glatt and rhea team up. Ross gets Doug back in the game and he returns the favor
The guy with the beard whose trying to fight them is Kurt Russels son and almost had a career in hockey til he got injured
Now he's Captain America, life could be worse.

Anders Caine.
im actually upset that Glatt left the team after that
good point
Remember that before the match, his doctor told him that he would never be able to play again if he threw a punch with the right arm. Well, he did.

Ross was a better villain

Nah. Ross was a better antagonist. More nuanced and interesting, but this guy is a villain. Crazy and violent of the sake of it.
Good thing we now have Shorsey
It is still so weird seeing Stiffler beating the shit out of people
It’s scary how much Zack Kassian looks like Sean William Scott here

At least cast someone that can skate like a real hockey player. Nothing ruins any type of hockey film faster than actors that can't skate.
