I think its safe to say that the Shifters out in California were the original roots guys that brought back the resurgence in traditional Hot Rodding. They showed the world that Hot Rods could be built without a six digit yearly income. Older guys like Rollin Bones picked up on the trend soon after, and didn't follow the high tech Street Rod movement like their peers . This was an entertaining film, and glad its being documented.
I think you'll find the truth of the matter is that the resurgence of traditional Hot Rodding started with the Low Flyers in the UK with the ethos of building as much fun and speed as possible with as little as possible.
@@jackbmth7783 Seeing those (then kids) back in the 1980s, then exploding in the 1990s, I must respectfully disagree. Their cars weren't the only thing that was a throwback to the 1940s and 50s, they were equally as nostalgic. This is what I was referring to. It was a total lifestyle/package, and appears to be that way today.
@@jackbmth7783 yeah something tells me that resurgence happened at the same location it originated
@@jackbmth7783 and I find it confusing that Volvo powered, right hand drive, fiberglass bodies... in someway equates to "traditional Hot Rodding" ...........
The men responsible for traditional hot rodding are the guys who built these things in the 30s 40s and 50s. EVERYTHING is a copy of what they did. NO ONE born after WWII can take any credit for traditional hot rods. TF outa here with that shit yo.
Outstanding people building, driving and racing Outstanding cars that reflect the history of hot rodding.
Simply beautiful.
Always fun to watch these guys. RIP to Ken Schmidt, he will always be a legend.
Thanks for taking the time to watch THREE MILE.
One of the best car videos I've seen on You Tube. The camaraderie and the love of the sport at Bonneville is like no other place on earth. This video really captures that.
Been a mechanic for 20 years, and all I ever got to work on was modern crap. I still have a welder and plasma cutter for my own projects. I turned my 76 stepside Silverado into as close to an old school hot rod as I could manage. Big block, 4 speed, flat black. Made my grill instead of buying one, made taillight holders. This spring I'm going to put a 57 Chevy wagon tailgate on it and do a roll pan. If I ever got any money, I'd never buy anything new.( Newest thing I own is 1999, and even it's a bit too new). I was born in the wrong time
Thank you for using these cars as intended.
Road zombies for life
Love It! Nobody does it better than the Rolling Bones Boys!
Wow , what a great movie ! Those rods are awesome ! Great job everyone involved.
I agree Kevin!
That was epic!! Hats off to you boys building rolling art, it's timeless!!
AWESOME, just AWESOME. Makes you wanna be there. Great music to.
These guys are BAD ASS. A can of WINDEX lasts them 100 times longer than its supposed to. One wipe and the entire windshield is clean. Great stuff here! Thank you!
My boooooooooys! Now that is living the dream!
Fantastic movie! I'm a big fan of Rolling Bones cars and guys!
I have known about Bonneville since being a kid but have not seen anything that covered the event as well as this video. Thank you for making this video available!
So true Will
I really enjoyed that, very well filmed and documented. Thanks
All of the cars are kick ass but that yellowish 3 window really turns my crank, damn.
Thanks for a great video.😎 Bonneville is still the bastion of homegrown racing & thanks to SCTA & USFRA the widest variety of vehicles can still be seen running on the salt. If you ever wanted to go, do it "Soon" as we are losing it at an alarming rate to Mining supported by the Bureau of Land Mismanagement for profit. Weather permitting there are 4 meets open to the public with Speed Week starting on the second weekend in August.
Skydog!!!! Miss you man. Love that "rusty" 32!
Wow what a great video. Traveling in convoy sure has its advantages when something goes wrong always someone to lend a helping hand. Awesome cars and fun times had by all on this road trip to Bonneville while living the dream😎👍
This was a great documentary! Looks fun as hell.
Outstanding, I love the film !
Great story. I felt like I went along for the ride. Save the salt.
Flatties Forever!!!
This is a great movie, I can almost smell the shops
Love the Rods bunch of cool dude 👍😁🇱🇷
f---ing love this film!
I like these guy's. If it's not honest & on time, they don't have time for it...
Truest form of hot rodding, amazing documentary for a Gear-head guy like myself. 😊😊😊
What a well done movie, I'm about half way through. Tire failure just about has to be under inflation. And the best soap for patching leaky gas ⛽️ tanks is Fels Naptha Laundry Soap .... it's what I got my mouth washed out with as a kid
Always cool seeing these guys at boneville. You know its them when they pull up without seeing anything saying they are.
That was fantastic! Loved it! Thank you!
Jon is a legendary guy for sure always heard about him can’t wait to meet him one day at the flats and the whole crew
Hells Yeah!!
LOVE this kinda stuff!!
Good memories in Wendover 76- 79.
Amazing group, and amazing movie! Thanks for putting this out there.
Ridin for the Brand. Means no crossovers. Which in turn means no cheavy engine in a FORD. PERIOD!
UNLESS...... U WANT IT TO GO FAST
@@helpfullhand-ub3hc tell Bob Glidden that.
Fantastic video, great bunch of guys who work together to be together. That's a nice brotherhood of men !
Great video enjoyed every minute of it 👌.
Great film, enjoyed it to the max. My bucket list is Bonneville, I’m just afraid I will catch salt fever.

Really cool movie/documentary. Making it to the Salt Flats with my 51 Plymouth is on my bucket list
The Rolling Bones cars are Wonderfull vehicles .🇬🇧
Sweet freedom...don't let them take it away from us
Great show ! Thank you for it 👍
Awesome video
RIP Ron Hickman.
Enjoyed!!!! 👍👍
Great movie... thank you ✌️🙂
I was wondering why they didn't film multiple rods rolling down the highway ?
It seems like that would've been the money shot for the trip !
RIP Joe Didio.
Fantastic, sure looks like fun!
Great movie really enjoyed it 👍
DAM that was good!!!!
I got to go buy the largest TV screen to watch this , and have a gallon of gasoline , oil aroma to pretend I'm there , I love authentic cars and authentic music !
Don't forget salt!
One theme I see that's consistent with my world is how crappy after market parts are these days. Such a pain in the butt to install a new part, put the rest of the engine back together only to be pulling it apart again not long after due to that new part failing.
Well done gents,
great movie!
Sweet !
Awesome vid👍
GGGRRR88T STUFF BROTHR"Z THANK$ !!! ... .. .
Does Brian know you have posted this?
greatr
Everyone should go to Speed Week at least once in their life
How cool was that trip, maybe we can a trip sorta like that haha be fun! 18:10
Someone here had an original from the 50s, they were selling it for 10K, should have grabbed it, the flat head was torn apart, they were setting it up for The Race of Gentlemen, still had the original markings and stickers on it, a time capsule.
What's the grill on that Ford pickup at 30:05? Upsidedown 61 Chrysler or something like that? Looks pretty dang good
this is so cool..."i'm salivatin' like Pavlov's dog" for one of these cars. Anyone know the name of the Rolling Stones-sounding song at 6:00?
The video is awesome! Killer rides and story. Loved it. Also loved but can't find the music that starts @15:40. Have Sound Hound and google lyrics but no dice. Can you let me know what the song and who the artist is? Thanks!
The band is called the TELLTALE SIGNS. The singer/guitar player is hot rod builder Andy Koehler.
Good Rods are nice, but if you break a valve stem or valve spring and break a piston the rod may come out the side of the block..
24:30 Denver Detonators
these guys need to do a drag and drive event like dragweek,
Killer.
What’s the song at 5:44?
Say you guys, where are the vintage trucks and campers!! Can't be using that new junk to pull the parts van!
When the boys at Vitton Motors get my engine done , we will show them what's what .
So what's the trick to keeping the salt from destroying your car?
Alot of trying to romance the building of a hot rod shiny paint having someone build it for you and calling yourself a builder not impressed 😅
Pieced a model A truck together..one piece at a time..6volt..started off trying a hotrod built 390 and S10 frame but went rusty pile of parts .but original frame lined up better
Poor folk jalopy
Self assembled oh baby
21:28 lol
How the hell do they wash every last grain of salt off the cars after the event, so they don't rust into the ground?? I would think that salt would hide EVERYWHERE!
Apparently this is an hour long commercial.😢
Great film and especially the comments by the participants. The music is OK but the singing sucked
Should have run a real generator with a regulator instead of the fake power gen. Just say no to one wire alternators.
Why?
Blue oval blindness
Loved the film. Hated the "music". Awesome cars fellas.
NO! I'm sorry. But when they swapped EVERYTHING out on the car. It died for me. Hot Rodding is, to me, race what you brought. Not swap the drivetrain, strip the interior and fit a pre build cage and all the other stuff. Dreaming of having a flathead, manual 32 coupe. But what these guys are doing, kinda makes me not wanna. That said. The multiple car cruising, the friendships the times spent working on the cars. THAT is Hot Rodding.

What are these guys on about? Babbling on and on I think they’re making out like their awesome? Whatever... if you gotta tell everyone your cool. Then your not!
Petrolheads eh...what are you going to do? Doff your hat in respect.
