  • "Israel will pay a high price whether they comply or whether they don’t comply."
Richard Falk, a professor of international law emeritus at Princeton University, spoke with MEE in an exclusive interview about the significance of the ICJ's decision.
He emphasised the importance of the ruling and stated that regardless of Israel’s compliance, there will be consequences.

Sheila recently had a guest on, that she complained to was raising his voice and shouting at her... she looked uncomfortable.. but he was not shouting & never raised his voice over his normal tone. It was the truth shouting out at her (on air & on record) so loud she could not fail to hear it.

I'm very glad to see Richard Falk. His report as the UN Special Rapporteur on the blockade of Gaza and the attack on the Freedom Flotilla motivated me to fight against the inhumane occupation of Palestine. For me, this was the first voice that called for Israel to be held accountable for violating international law. You are a hero of our time.

Saying that Palestinians were never able to create a powerful unit to create a force, is not of their own making! They are undermined, crushed, manipulated and annihilated! Palestinians existed for a long time before the occupation and the catastrophe of ‘Naqba’ in 1948. Zionism was too strong to defeat! Algerian kicked the French colonialists out of their country because their resistance was much stronger, everybody took part! Everyone had the same belief: die for your country! The same applies to the Vietnamese! 🇻🇳 I would say the Palestinians are capable of fighting this war given Israel was not getting all their weapon support and military forces from America and the EU. Palestine is fighting not only Israel, they are also fighting America, Germany, France, The Uk, the Netherlands and so on and so forth! Do you see 😢how difficult to face to multiple enemies!!!

Anyway the aim of an apartheid state like Israel is to fragmentize, segmentize and marginalise the colonised, in order to control them. In fact their very policies are aimed at preventing the expression of political will or the forming of efficient leadership. So I agree Palestinians were prevented by settler colonialist policies to do so..

What an astute and honorable American. At 72 , and a lifetime Democrat, I resonate with his insights into how we need to shift our cultural attitudes to bring change given all he laid out . With the current political dynamics of wealth and military agendas and weapon manufacturing world we need voices like his to lead us, find new candidates to bridge the young voters and the older voters , those who seem to refuse to see the future , the truth and get involved politically.
Where are these new voices that can be active against the power of AIPAC?

In my experience as a Canadian, having a viable 3rd party is critical for holding governments accountable to the people.
A credible threat with about 25% support, though never yet In power federally, the New Democratic Party often holds the 'balance of power' - the votes that mean the difference between a bill passing and not passing.
The two major parties will say that it "splits the vote" but of course they will. lol

Didn’t the ICJ rule that the hostages abducted by Hamas et al on 10/7 need to be released “immediately and unconditionally”?
That was over a week ago. So much for “immediately.”
And all I hear about are prisoner exchange deals. Or releasing hostages “in exchange for X, Y, or Z.”
    So much for “unconditionally.”

Richard Falk so clearly described the quandary faced by the American electorate. Democrats for years have adopted the strategy of offering candidates just slightly better than those offered by the Republicans. We do have some remarkable progressive members in Congress but because corporate America owns the President and the majority of Democratic legislators, there is little they can do. The Republicans, of course, are much more concerned about gun rights than human rights. My best hope, and it's a long shot, is that Trump is disqualified for attempting to suborn the election and supporting the insurrection at the Capitol and that Biden steps down to allow a candidate with values more closely aligned to mine into the race. A future of fascism or accepting a President that offers to unconditionally support an ally committing genocide?

I think it was a perfect prelim decision. I wanted an explicit ceasefire but I still thought the correct legal decision was ‘stop doing the genocide’. Even Hamas thought that - tried to swing it with a commitment to cease fire too, but courts can’t decide on ‘trust me bro’ and the right to resist the occupation would persist in any case.
