- My first day of college has finally come! honestly it was a bit nerve racking cause i've been living in Japan for the last two years... but I'm so excited to attend the school of my dreams!
It's been a month since school started but I've been super caught up with studies, midterms, band, and a job. Definitely a lot to work with but fulfilling!
ABOUT ME!!
I'm Wanchai and I am a freshman at Brigham Young University. I am currently a computer science major and Japanese minor. I play snare for BYU's drumline and make CZcams videos about college, music, and just life in general!

If it's your first year and you haven't served a mission, Helaman or Heritage are great. Otherwise off campus might be better.

I graduated from the Y in 1989. Spent most of my time at the McKay education bldg under the SWK Tower. Looks like things are a bit different than what I remember. Where did the Tree of Wisdom sculpture end up? I heard it was moved. I sure couldn't do university life and schedules nowadays.
I wish I knew what sculpture you're talking about, but I wasn't on campus as much to know
@@WanchaiChab When I was there, the Tree of Wisdon sculpture was on the north of the library entrance. Do a Google search for BYU Tree of Wisdom sculpture and there are pictures. I had a class in the Jesse Knight building. Jesse Knight founded my hometown where I still live and named it Raymond after his son. Raymond, Alberta is that place.

Thank you for making this video!! I'm a sophomore in high school, and BYU is my top school right now. I was wondering, do you think a 3.99/4.0 GPA (unweighted) would make me a contender for BYU? I haven't taken the ACT or SAT yet. Also, would they accept me if I'm not a Latter-Day Saint? I'm Catholic, but I really like the idea of the Honor Code. Thank you!!

BYU’s admission process is super well-rounded! They really look at everything like extracurriculars and sports and not just grades! Also because of covid, I never took the act or sat and I still got admitted, but I know you’re a sophomore so it prolly doesn’t apply haha

I just got accepted and I am an international student from China, my gpa is 3.77 and I'm not a latter-Day Saint too. Don worry too much about that!
Thank you for the video! Do you study online or they allow to go on campus? Do you have drummer classes as before or it is cancelled? I want to know because I play trombone and don't want to pay tuition and study online.
Thank you for watching! Sorry for the late reply. Campus is open and you can study there. But masks are required. Band classes are a little different with social distancing but it is doable

How much tuition is there? Currently in UVU taking English clases and lookIng forward to enter here (UVU) or BYU. But need some savings before and need and idea of how much ? I am from Mexico

I don't think so. I wouldn't know much about transferring though
If you’re grades are good from BYUi and get some good recommendations and write compelling essays you can transfer just fine.
Is the rent expensive in the apartments that you live in.
Compared to other colleges in the US, the rent here isn't too bad

Yes, everyone is required to take the religion classes. They are quite insightful!

@@lonelychick4956 My GPA was 3.8 but I know students even with a 4.0 who were not accepted. GPA and test scores are not everything.

BYU is reasonable but also offering high quality education. I wish I could study there. However, I'm Japanese, and not Mormon. I heard that diversity of the school is lacking, and 99% are Mormon, so I’m worried about being discriminated or bullied….

Religion class not like Institute? Have you ever attended an institute class before? If so, you had a less-effective teacher.
It was only the first day so I didn't have much to compare it to. As the semester went on, I saw the similarities.
