That was a violin bow JP was using on the guitar. He uses this technique on both dazed and confused and how many more times from the first album- its how he achieves the almost inexplicable sounds . It is definitely worth watching a live performance of these two tracks. The best live version of dazed and confused is the 30 minute version fromthe song remains the same film - Madison Square garden 1973. By then he had turned this into performance art. This is not available on you tube at the moment but you should keep an eye open for it. there are good versions live at Royal Abert hall 1970 and in London 1969. If you want to hear them doing amazing blues try Since i been lovin you MSG 1973 live performance and in my time of dying - maybe best to do a lyric video of the studio version first. Anyway we look forward to you doing the second album.

This is a cut down version that came out for online video about 10 years ago. It's kinda soulles in that way, cuts out the heart of the song. But hey, people that want to look cool and pretend they know what the fuck is up need to be satisfied. A cascade of clueless Zeppelin fans these days into an Isaac Newton triangle. Too much fashion, by those whom do not yet understand the ground upon which we are all born.
Edit: There are things known in terms of what the human mind can perceive in it's normal function, and there are things known in terms of what the human mind can perceive in it's self thinking function, and then after that there are things can only be revealed by going so far under your self as to be beyond your conscious mind, such states by definition must include psychedelics without 33 years of meditation, because that is the only path under your conscious mind that is feasible. Once such an understanding is reached between the conscious mind and the subconscious mind, then, maybe, I might listen to what someone thinks they know about fucking Led Zeppelin. the video is why this version is a good introduction to Led Zep if you haven't heard it before. It gives a quick taste of the sheer joy and exuberance of the band and gets new people interested in it. They then invariably go on to listen to studio versions. I must edit this again and say that you are correct in terms of introducing Led Zeppelin, that is very true you are right in what you say on that point, but that wasn't really what I was talking about but nonetheless you are correct yes.
