About Me:
My name is David Hoffmann. Since starting David’s Been Here in 2008, I have traveled to over 1,400 destinations in 98 countries to experience and document unique cultures on my CZcams channel, travel blog, and social media.
I highlight culture and historical sites, but my passion is food! I love to experience and showcase the different flavors each destination has to offer, from casual street food to gourmet restaurant dining.
Thanks for watching and subscribing!
First time I watched you David, it was 2010 as I watched one of ur morocco-vlogs, at that time I was not married nor had any children. Today I have been married for 12 years and have a daughter turning 11 and u are still here doing travel-vlogs. Surreal lol
Wow, that is amazing K! I can't thank you enough for such a lovely comment and for supporting the channel for so long. I basically shed a tear of joy from how much this means to me. I have two daughters as well, and it is so beautiful to hear you have a 12 year marriage and a family! Thats such a blessing and yeah, I have always enjoyed traveling and making videos and I feel truly lucky to still be able to do this! That said most of my time is also spent working in my studio for my channel, and being at home with family and friends just relaxing despite the travels! Wishing you peace and blessings K and wow those Morocco vlogs really bring back memories. THANK YOU K!
@@Davidsbeenhere Few channels on CZcams bring back memories like your does. All the best!
If you are reading this there’s a reason……No matter how good or bad you have it,wake up each day thankful for your life.Someone somewhere else is desperately fighting for theirs ❤️🇧🇸

Hi David san. I am a local who has just subscribed.
You had amazing companions during your stay. Frank san and Bryan san are definitely pros. Their Japanese is super good and they know our culture inside and out. I could see that they made a conscious effort to avoid the touristic places and also accommodated to your taste preferences at the same time.
Glad you went to Sunamachi. This place is a great representation of how Japanese high streets used to be 30 years ago. My daughter actually worked for half a day at one of these stores as part of her school project.
Pretty sad that these local high streets are dying out every year due to huge shopping malls depriving of their businesses.
Oh, and you definitely need to master how to unwrap a convenience store onigiri. It was just so wrong lol :)
Welcome and thank you for such a kind hearted and thoughtful comment. Thank you Sonny san! Welcome to the channel, and have a great week too!
Hey I've seen the Onigiri opened in a much simpler way. Just pull down the flap labeled 1. Then pull the side ones labeled 2 and 3. Beats having to undo the wrapper.
The cool thing about Japanese food is that it may look like a lot but because its in small plates/bowls/pots even, the focus is on tastiness and variety! 80% of the food is very low caloric. In comparison a extra large pizza with extra cheese and full toppings is probably more than double the calories David ate in this entire video. The Japanese really have mastered the art of food on every level. Full respect to them!
David this was the best video ever. I could not stop watching from beginning to the end.
that makes me so happy!
Even though Tokyo is so crowded they def know how to keep the city clean!
The place look so clean and the food look so so tasty
So good ❤😂
Thank you. My son's dream land. Sure to visit with him.
he has too!
i hope you go back soon! this video series was amazing to watch.
aw thank you!
yes this is amazing! Great job David. The food in Tokyo is incredible!!
Thank you so much! Grateful to have your support.
@@DavidsbeenhereLove watching you explore Japan & the rest of the world in your videos David
Can't help laughing, as I'm watching your friend Frank delicately eating his ramen, then it's over to David who picks up nearly half the bowl of noodles on his chopsicks & in one go you pretty well shovel it all into your mouth like you're competing in some crazy Ramen noodle eating competition😅
Reminds me of how my eldest son eats...just smashes in as fast as possible, splattering juice all over the place, but really enjoying his food! A crazy sight to behold for those of us watching though!
Take care & keep up the great work with making vids for us to enjoy, thanks David! 😊❤
Do any black people visit Tokyo that often? All the videos I've seen only show black people being profiled in that worst way possible. I'm just curious before I plan a trip there.
Oh you were so lucky to be able to hang out with Sanichi from Tabi Eats. He is such a sweet person. I love his CZcams channel with his partner Satoshi. I truly hope you enjoyed your visit to Japan it's a beautiful wonderful country.
Yesss! Loving these videos. I would love so much to go to Tokyo, it looks absolutely fantastic
It's so good! ❤ one of my favorite trips of my life 💪
Wow such a fantastic time you had in Japan ❤.
Such a diverse country with so much to offer.
A gorgeous 😍 tour with amazing food 😍 and beautiful buildings.
Take care guys and be safe Simon and Beth ❤❤❤
oh I loved it there!
Take the bus from Narita to Tokyo station is cheaper than the train. It's only $10 and gets there in 65 mins.
Love watching you eat the traditional Japanese breakfast. Thank you
Wow. I've watched so many Japan travel vlogs. Yours is outstanding. In Tokyo alone I saw so many gems that I haven't seen in other vlogs. Awesome job David😊

loved this documentary!! thanks for showing.
Glad you enjoyed it ❤
Good morning David. Didn’t know you already went to Japan. I Follow a young lady Meljean Solon who is there now. She stayed one night in a pod for the experience then now in a hotel. This is a cumulative video. Gonna watch and enjoy in increments. No long winded comment as you know it will be ridiculous. 😂. You’re up to eating the snacks you got from 7-11 on the train. Love finger foods. And correct me and my apologies if I’m wrong; Happy Passover. And yes. The hotel is amazing. You’re about to have breakfast. Anyway. Thanks in advance for I’m sure an amazing Vlog/s. I’m back. Am I losing my mind? I see you and the sushi as the thumbnail but I also saw you , a gal and the Food Ranger 🤷🏻♀️.
this is a big reason why i am dropping Documentaries because most my audience doesnt know where I have been. Japan, China and South Korea docs are next :)
What is the 2nd good tour you went on and where was it? With Tokyo by Food? Thanks
Konnichiwa and arigato David. Thank you so much for showing this doc. on Tokyo. I actually chose this one because I was really excited to see it and I was not disappointed. I thought India was overcrowded but Tokyo is right up there with it's large crowds too. The city is so clean and the food looked so delicious, although I will pass on anything raw. In Toronto,we have masala noodle packs in the grocery. I especially loved the ramen noodles. It's a really beautiful city. They really take politeness and privacy seriously, something we need in North America. It looked very complicated to get around especially if you don't know the language. I think I would get lost😂😂😂. That bullet train is something else. WOW!!! Did you actually feel the speed of the train? There was so much to see and you did a very good job on this one. I enjoyed it very much. Once again, domo arigato. To you and your family I wish you all a blessed Easter Sunday.🙏😇💕🐰🇹🇹🇨🇦. Sayonara.
Bro shut up and get a life 😂
Spelt "Konnichiwa" love.
@@shanegeneral3874 thanks. I will change it.✌️❤️🇹🇹🇨🇦
cmon dont be scared
@@onlybetasgetoffendedbystri8030 no raw food for me and I really don't like huge crowds. I am ok otherwise.🙏✌️🇹🇹🇨🇦

So excited about this documentary. This was probably one of my favourite series that you did.💜
Woohoo! That really makes me happy to hear Krista. Thank you so much!
Hahahahh the fortune thing was very fun ,David even didn’t wish for anything but put his money in the box 😂😂😂😂😂
There is a trick to opening onigiri. At one of the points there is a pull tab that will tear the cellophane and then you ‘’clam shell’’ open the package. The rice cake falls into place …. Simple.
Funny enough because I didn’t really have a guide for that no one explained it 😂
Don‘t forget the Itadakimasu before taking the first bite… 😁
You read my mind! lol i wanted to befriend David just to teach him how to properly open an Onigiri! Hahaha love the video and your content. 😊 ❤

That was too funny. He ate that fish very quickly before you change your mind. Lol have to watch this video over a couple of days cause it’s so long. Thanks again David.😊
Thank you Vanessa and yeah this is one of my personal favorites that I've done, Tokyo is truly magical.
Great video. Man I like how you were just open about being in your thirties and finally going to a place you had always wanted. I did the same. 34 and i finally went to the places I wanted. Life changed for me and my opportunity came and I didn’t pass that up. Japan was great while I was there but I really loved bangkok and similar to you in japan, Thailand was my place. Been studying it since 9th grade, learned the language by reading and using google. First time I went there people thought I had been there long time and say I speak very well. That was cool. But hey you keep doing it man. Have fun. Good content.
Wish I was there trying all the food.
me too!
Wish I wasn't afraid to fly, Japan looks so beautiful 🥺
Just take the challenge to fly. It's amazing I can assure you. I only travelled as far as Hong Kong. Step out of your fear of heights and fear of flying. Wish you well on your future endeavours😊
Just walk
Watching you rip into the onigiri made me laugh so hard because my first trip to japan i did the same thing then i noticed the 3 step process and it made life a little easier lol

I love Japanese food names sushi
Queen of soups. I love your channel and I barley subscribed to you today!
love the Video ! a question how is the vegeterian selection in the country in general?
You’re unwrapping the onigiri wrong. If you look at it closely, you’ll see 1, 2 & 3. One is at the top and pull it around the rice ball. Then, just pull the sides away, 2 & 3.
Just came back from Japan. Japan is the cleanest country in the world. People are so disciplined when it comes to sanitation and waste segregation.
Yo next time you are in Japan hit me up. I’m in Tokyo moved from Miami.
David…you the homie but I can’t stand the way you open the onigiri 😂😂
yummy😄👍
Awesome I agree my previous life I was a seal. Nothing like fish. Growing up in the keys I always carried wasabi and soy on the boat.

Hi David, first thing I wanna say is that I truely like your video-content on CZcams! The way I see it on (28:40 / 3:49:53) you know that white little radisch ball: there are some tiny little fish on top!! Did you reconiced this yourself somehow?!? ..the way I see it..maybe I'm wrong?!? Allmost can't wait for the next one..!! Greets from thé Netherlands .. beybey 👋🏼👋🏼 zwaaizwaai!!
Stay tuned because I'm coming to the Netherlands for my NEXT COUNTRY! Next month I'll be there to explore the hidden gems and stories of the Netherlands! I can't wait! Also thank you so much for the comment.
Sushi Is My #1FOOD

I lived there its amazing
Really enjoyed this travel vlog you made. I'm wondering if you found out that there's actually a way to open the onigiri (1:24:42) so it wraps itself as you open it? There are numbered tabs that you pull in sequential order and voila; wrapped onigiri. I'm heading to Japan myself and will be landing on 11/26.
Good morning David how you doing hope all is well ❤
Morning! ❤ yes I hope you are too!
Thankyou ❤️ i😊
Thank you too Elizabeth!

Bro the way your opening the onigiri 😅
David, what luggage would you recommend? since you travel so much. Thanks.😊
Yesss/ Great video
Nice video! But be advised that most of the content from the beginning, especially prices and schedules and options is from 2019 - so much has changed since then.
Thanks for the tips! 😅
You probably know this by now but you dont have to unwrap the whole onigiri its only a three step process, check the wrapping, nevertheless Great compilation watching this as I goto sleep
yea no one taught me :)
