Thanks for the updates Marcus. The Double is an amazing drama that I am slowly falling in love and I think the Douban rating should have been higher than 6.9. The talented actors , their undeniable chemistry, the story plot and the directing has made The Double a must watch drama. The Heroes opening Douban rating is right on point. I am surprised that there is not more chatter or promotion about Heroes. It is the unsung drama of 2024 thus far.
The double is really amazing and addictive, binge watching 10 episodes yesterday and I was hooked
I also have been hooked despite the over the top beginning that was extremely dramatic, theatral and with dramatic music almost the full episode.
I have to share this. I rewatched the entire S1 of JoL, then waited a day and went on to S2. It was like an extended S1, because almost everyone was there and didn't look any different than S1. What a delight that was.

Thank you Marcus! The DOUBLE as entertainment, 10 points. I made a stop at ep. 14 waiting for 5 or 6 chapters to be uploaded (I can't resist the anxiety when they upload 1 per day with a dropper!). GENERAL WELL is light and quite funny (it would be much more attractive if they didn't insist on making a warrior woman speak with the childish voice of a 4-year-old girl...) The Double started rather thrillingly as a horror story with buried alive woman's arm emerging from mud grave on cold mountain, and digging her way out in white, very ghost like. Next there was another murdered woman, whose place she took to restore their both reputations. But it actually was a rather thrilling tale, with lots of "assassinations" (but not much poison, Joy of Life style - well ok, there were two instances of allergenic stuff causing rashes) and twists and turns, among which a pair of maids which looked lifted as live action from the evil Siamese cats in One Hundred and One Dalmatians, and other part funny "extreme" moments , and a very good looking Duke... Awaiting ep18 now. Douban rating is probably correct.
The Tale of Rose had me in stitches for the black humor at the marriage bureau and the goofy stupid old suitor, causing some trouble on home front for Yigui /Meigui the Rose, who was no nonsense about her wanting a job. After having berated some hapless women colleagues about the pitfalls of love unrequited, hah ! she dived into a love affair herself. On the way, she extorted some cash from her dad, hinting blackmail about a plant. So he unearthed (yes it was buried!!) his secret fund of blue and grey 100 yuan banknotes.... That's where I paused. Not red? Eh, yes, in the late 1990s, early 2000s, two different issues of paper money circulated simultaneously, known to numismatists as the 4th and 5th series. The blue and grey design featured the profiles of PRC founding fathers Mao, Zhou, Liu (Shaoqi) and Zhu (De)... A line-up of luminaries on paper that, to me, also brought back memories of Mount Rushmore and North by Northwest movie. So: will there be thrilling stories upcoming? Will the over-eager and harassing gentleman get poisoned? Episode 7 tomorrow.
The Fox Spirit Matchmaker, despite smile pasted on face Gong Jun with a freeze-dried Yang Mi, has a difficult task keeping my attention on the various evil-doings of the former Fox Clan chief, revived, flanked by an evil white fox, and soon a host of escapees from fantasyland high security prison. I had a peek at the donghua, and the former Fox spoke in exactly same distinctive manner. So the drama must be true to model which should satisfy some fans there. But, me sighing : must we go through three variations of that childish story, airbrushed in pastel colors? --- Some did not like Sword and Fairy 4 when i rather enjoyed it (some xianxia haters even had issues with the Azure KIng anf her Last God); I find I have perhaps less tolerance for the Fox franchise, despite foxes are cute critters (ah well, maybe white and blue snakes are cuter). Also, many characters are not as clear as they ought to be in this rosy hued landscape and the blood issue, the power struggle are also not that well defined, in my opinion. Some side orders of poisons and poisonous haze and fogs are strewn in the mix. This drama is not over yet, but I'm dragging my mental feet and lagging behind at episode 22/36. Five days to go until end...
Now, the story of Fan Xian, the hidden prince, and heir to the Poison Master... if S3 happened on the heels of that of S2, I'd be cheering. I was delighted by S1+S2, despite what I felt as a bit of a rushed ending in S2 ; reconciling myself to it through re-watch. Waiting for 3 years? A big charm of S2 was that so many in the cast had come back (only noticed 4 replacement actors/actresses, and they were mostly similar looking and in character, so had to check closely to find the ones who could not come back). I doubt it can be done again...
Happy drama watching to the avid ones who also venture viewing several ones almost simultaneously, including those who view it as a mental combat arena to weigh which ones will stay memorable and which ones won't. Have a nice week. Take care of your health, and avoid unnecessary poisons, lol. 🌚 🌚

Hi Marcus, I've heard really good reviews about Heroes and the Douban opening ratings seem to reflect that. I've always liked the main actor Qin JunJie, so am looking forward to catching this drama.
I notice the shows in the Top Ten for TV stick a lot longer than the ones in the Top Ten for web. Is it because the audience is bigger and they watch the show on repeat in China? Just wondering.
Lastly, Crystal Liu is the most ethereal beauty. Gosh, that woman is gorgeous. This movie should be showcasing all the facets of Crystal!
Could be a number of reasons why top TV dramas stick longer. A bigger audience could be one. The type of drama could be another, and I think also because more web dramas get released than TV ones is another

my rated dramas so far are: the double=7.5, the heroes=7, joy of life S2=7, and the tale of rose=7. all these dramas are very good dramas in it's own way. we are halfway of this year, we already got good dramas, hopefully the rest of the year will produce more good dramas for us to watch.
So there's still a chance for Immortality and Eternal Faith to pass the review right??!! We will not lose hope.😢

Heroes completely deserves it's opening Douban ratings interesting plot, interesting characters and set during and interesting time in Chinese history. Tale of Rose....I have tried so hard to enjoy, but I just can't. I posted a few days ago how Liu Yifei playing an almost teen/ early 20's was not working. She is a beautiful skilled, mature actress and no amount of face blurring, silly In-Line skating, teen wardrobe, or begging daddy for a cellphone is making her look like a fresh face youth. I felt bad took down my post and continued to "CRINGE"watch. I kept trying even though most episodes are just a 20 minute contrived "photo shoot" of Liu Yifei with some story. Now we get to college and OMG, they did not cast Lin Gengxin as a college student?????ARE YOU kidding me! The actor who amazingly portrayed the male lead in 'To Love', currently starring in the 'Legend of Shen Li'. These two are wonderful actors but you are asking the IMPOSSIBLE of their acting abilities for them to portray the angst of youth. Am I the only one cringing???? Why, why ? If you want to cast all these high profile actors yes, I'm all for it, just give them a believable character. Hate me if you want I tried so hard, Liu Yifei is one of my favorite actresses, but 'The Tale of Rose has put me over my CRINGE tolerance. 😢
