  • Knowing why your body is reacting to certain foods, with symptoms such as acid reflux and bloating, is key to your journey to digestive health. This week Rebecca speaks to Dr Norm Robillard Ph.D. Dr Robillard is the founder of The Digestive Health Institute, a gut expert, microbiologist, author of the Fast Tract Diet book series and the Fast Tract Diet app. The Fast Tract Diet, which has been used successfully by many people with SIBO to calm their digestive symptoms. Dr Robillard had his own gastric issues with acid reflux and this is what led him to start to explore the issues with carbohydrates and fermentation. Rebecca and Dr Robillard delve into the Fast Tract Diet, and talk at what gut health benefits can be achieved by lowering the fermentation of the foods that you are consuming. I really enjoy your podcasts :) You ask great questions and make it a bit easier for someone to understand something so complex as SIBO. I've learned so much from you and your guests. Thank you for your work in this field!

    How do I do this diet living in a van with only a one burner camp stove, no water, or refrigeration. I need to know simple low cost foods I can easily obtain and use without refrigeration. I don't need a list of foods I can't eat but a list of foods that are affordable, easy to prepare and I can eat..

      The FTD is a low fermentable diet. It can have pretty amazing results for people. Some of my SIBO coaching clients see really great results when they switch to this diet protocol.

    • @FrostyBud777
      @FrostyBud777 Před rokem +1

      herbal antibiotics and probiotics like Megaspore are added in to the diet to kill/clear/repopulate, while the diet reduces excess fermentation and inflammation. You are right, Diet alone cannot cure bacterial overgrowth and lack of probitiocs. I myself have current Citrobacter freundi and no growth of lactobacillus, Kill one and reseed the other , while doing diet and leaky gut healing things like bone broth and glutamine.

      It is NOT affected by oregano, caprilic acid, walnut hall or berberine. Cipro almost killed me and bactrim did nothing for it.
      I had no growth Lactobacillus. I even put a lacto probiotic up my butt to GET IT INTO MY BODY.

SO sick of this disbiosis, ANTIBIOTICS for 2 months (keflex brand) CAUSED ALLL THIS IN 2012 after a broken ankle surgery infection.
      Get probiotics into you. Get a comprehensive stool test to find the pathogenic bacteria and what strains they are , and what they are suceptible too. @@jamieb5679 I had trouble with sibo for 8 plus years. I have recently discovered prokinetics can be very helpful in jump starting the MMC (Migrating Motor Complex). The research I have done shows re-establishing the MMC is critical for eliminating sibo. I am using "Motility Pro" and am seeing very good results after 2 weeks. Good luck!!

    • @TheHealthyGuts
      @TheHealthyGuts  Před 8 měsíci

      Dr Robillard has assigned a Fermentation Potential (FP) to foods so you eat to a total FP value per day. Eg. If your daily FP value is 19, then you choose fits that don’t take you over a total of 19 points in the day. He has a really handy app which makes calculation super easy. Plus he’s written several books which explain the diet and give food lists with FP points.
