- Ideas on what to do with crystals and minerals we find. Working out what to do with Druzy and Crystal Clusters can be tricky. Some only requires cleaning but others need to be cut and process to turn it into pieces for jewelry making or display specimen.

The black crystal at 7:10 is beautiful, it looks like alien architecture. I was glad when you said you were leaving it as it was.
I love what u do mame, I find a lot of inspiration on what I will do with my vacation or holidays. Thanks
I love your videos! You do a great job of explaining as well! Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for sharing such interesting information about crystals. I'm new to jewelry making and my inspiration comes from nature itself. Reading about crystals is one thing, but seeing how it's formed and worked is so much more insightful.

CODbeast3553 Thanks for watching and commenting CODbeast and glad you enjoyed the videos. All the best, Liz
Your work is awesome. The only thing I see is that I prefer to keep my crystals raw and not polished.
So cool to look at all the different crystals and your strategy for modifying them, I could watch all day long. There is definitely a market for those types of pendants you make, you should sell online!
I will have some gems for sale soon but unfortunately not the jewelry pieces as I don't have the time to make them. :-( Cheers, Liz
I love how you show a piece and then actually cut it directly afterwards, wonderfully helpful. And thank you for showing the determining factors when breaking apart the bigger crystals, seems like all I get is bigger ones here (not a lot of druzy) Captions are extremely helpful as well. Thanks!
damok9999 Thanks for watching and commenting. Cheers, Liz
Excellent video, thank you very much for posting.
Thanks Byuda. You're most welcome and thanks for watching. Cheers, Liz
Literally a dream job ✨✨
This is a good video, I needed to see if my druzy would stand up to heavy vibrations of extraction and grinding. But I wish I could see more of how you got some of the druzy, because I found a large boulder with a lot of beautiful druzy ( always the biggest that are the most beautiful), and I was wondering how the hell I would get it out of the ground, forest, and into ( or around) my house.
i love your video
thank you for share
What is the name of the machine that you used and cut it marbles ?

Took you advice and found many videos on Lapidary. Also a local Lapidary club. Time to invest in new tools and start practicing. Thank You for for answering my questions.
You're welcome Nala and welcome to the world of Lapidary. Have fun and wish you all the very best...
Interesting as usual Liz :D
Can you tell us more about your saw? I am looking for a setup like yours. Love your work!
Thanks for watching Chad. The first machine/saw I use in this video is a Combination Lapidary Saw & Grinder. It has interchangeable saw, grinding and polishing wheels. I bought this to use when we go travelling. Cheers, Liz
Chad Vetter it's just a bench grinder with a diamond blade.
Just beautiful :)
Thank you, Liz! Nice video!

Hi there! love your video! This is just what I'm looking for! I'm trying to get into crystal jewelry making and I was wondering how I would go about cutting up some clusters. I can't quite catch the name of the plier-like cutting tool you keep using throughout your video...could you pleease tell me the name of that tool?
Kianna Harris Hi Kianna, It's called a TILE SNIP or TILE NIPPER. Don't forget the gloves. :-) Cheers, Liz
What did you use to polish them as well
Fascinating! Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge...really appreciate it! Kathy

Hi Lupe. Just saw your comment. I'm glad you enjoyed the video. Thanks for watching and commenting. Cheers, Liz
Muito bom legal
She's gonna hold on to the shaft while she polishes and grinds it yeah baby
Are the grinders and cutting machine specific to gemstone use? And what grit are your stones you use for cutting, grinding, and polishing.I have a 8 inch bench top grinder and use it for metal work. Thank You for sharing the love an knowledge of your craft. Thank You
Grinders specific for gemstones needs a constant water flow so as not to burn the stone. The grits start from 46 to 100,000 and they have different applications depending on the hardness of the stone. Cheers, Liz
I recommend the Geni grinding and polishing equipment. They are the best of the ones my club has. For cuting your stones Idk which saw it the best
Muito bonita suas pedras me escrevi fica com Deus
Hello, plaise tell me how to clining it im from morocco
Where do you get the crystals
Hi im a sculptor and multimedia artist and ive been trying to find a place to purchase crystal clusters and druzy in a rougher unfinished form so far all i can find are the finished ones for jewelry with drilled holes or that are coated with metal any suggestions on where i could find smaller ones to use for my purposes?? maybe someone who would sell in bulk or ship in flat rate here in the states
Hi Tiffany, I had a quick look online and there are quite a few websites selling them. I just googled up "Rough druse crystals" and found quite a lot for sale. Cheers, Liz
Hi Liz, have you ever ran across any crystals with native gold in the host rock?
No I haven't. Would be nice to find one. Cheers, Liz
What is the crystal/rock at 00:52 seconds in the video?
OMG at 0:56 the most beautiful geode i have ever seen!!!
Thanks Stephanie. I just wish I found more of them. Cheers, Liz
Hello liz! I have two amethysts and I would like to cut the bottom of each crystal so it can sit on my desk. I dont have the machine you are using. How can I do that at home? Please answer. Thank you!
+Jiji Hm Hi Jiji, You can use a diamond coated file to grind off the bottom(patiently) of your crystal or you can use a 'blue tack' to make it sit on your desk. Cheers, Liz
Beautiful crystals, have you ever tried an Ultra-sonic cleaner on your finds ? They will get all the dirt from small hard to reach areas !
What type of ultrasonic cleaner?
@@daddyswitlgirl Brand makes little difference, they all work the same by sending an ultra sonic pulse thru a solution. They come in all sizes, some for false teeth up to tubs large enough to fit a small gas engine. Buy on E-Bay used as new units ARE pricey. I picked up one with a tub big enough to do the wife's Cat for $18.00 American. I use mine for cleaning coins found Metal Detecting, I usually bank over $50.00 in Pennies each year ! Some are so corroded they are not recognizable, 90 seconds later 100 coins are clean as new ! Keep your paws out of the solution when running as the pulse is hard on your joints. Small items can be cleaned by putting them in a plastic tub of solution and running clean water in the main tank, the pulse goes thru the plastic with no problem with no clean up involved, just place lid on the tub and store it.
Good luck !
Harley
I'm looking for a grinding/polishing mechine do you know where I could buy one used or new
Hi DP, I bought mine from Shelley's Lapidary Supplies, South Australia. Seen second hand ones from eBay also. Thanks for watching and hope you find some. Cheers, Liz
So beautiful
Kathleen Arroyo Thanks for watching and commenting Kathleen. Cheers, Liz
Have you ever looked into the the fuzzy crystals or look at the art work that looks like people or animals. Try looking with enlargement to look at like micro printing. I have found interesting results.
You know the crushed glass? I wonder if crushed crystals of geodes can be done?
Omg I found one in my school!!!
Awesome video ! WOW , that Geo, with the Druzy crystal and agate was really nice ! I like that one. All the one were so beautiful sparkling like that.
I had fun making this video. Gave me happy thoughts when I look at the sparkles. Glad you enjoyed it William. Best wishes, Liz
How much do you sale your jewelry for, for example like a little pendant to go on a chain, maybe a beautiful opal and something like the crystal in this video ?
*****
I've never sold any jewelry William as I only make it (for now) for family and friends. If I we're to sell any in the future, a lot of factors has to be considered like the size of the stone/type, material used, time spent making the piece, etc. to determine "Price." Example, say I use an Opal (what type), as price varies with Black Opal, Boulder Opal, Crystal, and so many more different types of Opal. Also the size factors into the price. The bigger, the more higher in value compared to a small one and also the intensity of the color plays a major part in determining how much it's worth. If I were to use a Sapphire, it would be the same as determining the value as Opals, for there are many different colors of Sapphire and also the size and "Cut" of the stone plays a major part in determining value. Cheers, Liz
Do you sell any jewerly?
What is the tool you use at 4:47? Also what do you use to cut the crystal? You are literally only video I found showing how to cut and separate crystals.
"Tile nippers" thank you I got it
How do you clean your crystals to. Make them shiny if need be
I just use soapy water. Soak and scrub. Thanks for watching.
How u make holes on quartz crystal ? Tks
it is common to use diamond or carbide to cut through crystals.
Hiya, What did you use to clean them with please hun? Xxx
I only use soap and water.
Liz, I want to know how you learned all you know about gemstones and lapidary skills?
Research, field trips and by trial and error.
hi from France. I saw a grey bear head in the last black crystal
What is the table tool called that actually cuts the crystals?
It's called a "Lapidary Combination Machine/Workshop." You can have separate Lapidary Saw for cutting and also Lapidary Grinding Machine for cabbing and polishing.
So beautiful!
But for some reason I flinch every time I watch you grind and trim bare handed; you're obviously very talented and capable, but I don't think I could ever go near a grinder without my heavy duty gloves; you're very brave! Lol
Thanks so much for sharing, again, so beautiful!
Hi Katie, Cutting and grinding gemstones is quite easy. With supervision, even a 10 year old kid can do it. There are a few safety precautions to keep in mind but overall, it is a relatively safe process and most of the time, all one need is patience....:-) All the very best, Liz
I've cut and ground stones for years and never cut myself. I only saw one person get cut and she said it was entirely her fault
I like the "damaged" ones.
Ola decepció. Ver Prado Samora de. Campus España
What is the name of the machine you used to grind the crystals
I'm using a 4 wheel Lapidary grinder and polisher. The different grits of resin-bond diamond coated wheels are used for grinding and polishing. Thanks for watching. Cheers, Liz

where do you go to find these? how do you find these? and is it possible to find them in NZ?
jazzybingable All the gems I show on this video and my other videos, I've found in Australia. Would love to go to New Zealand one day to explore the area as there are a lot of minerals that we don't have here in OZ. I don't know of any specific locations to find gems in NZ but a bit of research on the net can give information of different localities where gems and minerals can be found. I would also contact the different Gems and Lapidary Clubs to get info or maybe in your case, join the club as I'm sure they have organized field trips to different prospecting spots. Good luck and wish you all the very best. Cheers, Liz
Thanks a bunch! :) also new to your vids but love them =)
You must have a huge cabinet for all your specimen s
We have a couple of display cabinets but most of them are still packed away in boxes. Thanks for the comments Joyleen and hope you're enjoying my videos. Cheers, Liz
How much this crystal
Where is the best place to search for coloured geodes in nature? Xxx
There are many colored geodes all around the world but some countries it's not open to the public. Here in Australia, designated fossicking locations can be found online.
Where's is the best place to find crystals
Research geological maps near you and have a look at areas which are associated with quartz. The fringes of these areas have the best crystals. Cheers, Liz
Do you buy any Missouri Druzzy
No I don't. We prefer to find our own.
Hi! Do u have druzy quartz on hand? Filipino too!!😁
Sorry Rachel but I don't have any druzy quartz for sale at the moment but will post a video when I get myself organized. All the very best, Liz
