For those using Blender 4.0+: The expression on the wheel's driver should be "tan(-var)", rather than just "-var"
Yoo thanks for keeping people informed!
Thanks
ME TOO! IVE ALWAYS WANTED TO DO A CAR ANIM. THANK YOU TAHNK OYU THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!
Yeaaaah! And with this method it's so easy to get great looking results. :-D
What’s the name of the app used
That’s what i don’t know
The software? blender!
Crazy how realistic it is! I’m trying this as soon as possible!
Just a note: In the "View" panel, you can check the option to lock the camera to the view. It allows you to use the normal viewport controls to move the camera around and I find it *way* easier to do than trying to manually move the camera around.
Good one! I use it often, but sometimes you get more control with the regular tools I think.
@@KaizenTutorialsif the car has camber wheels is there any way to make it work I can not get it to work without wobbling no matter what I try. I can set it so the local is set to a plane on each wheel and that will work to animate it but I can get it to work with driver no matter what I try thanks
thank you so much bro u helped me a lot for a thing in which I was stuck for 4 hourss !! loved it !!
Amazing tutorial, no words! Awesome man! Thanks
Thank you and glad you like it!
made it !
tanks bro. loved the whole tutorial
THANKS A LOT SIR , IVE BEEN CHECKING CZcams TRYIN TO FIND HOW TO DO A CAR ANIMATION EASIEST AND QUICKEST WAY, THNX A LOT SIR , APPRECIATE IT
Glad you like it! Thanks!
Great tutorial! Easy to follow along and the result looks awesome. Thank you!
Thank you! Cheers!
That was a lot of good Blender info for a 10-minute vid!
Thank you very much!
I bet if you were to animate the rotation of the HDRI to coincide with your beginning and ending keyframes it would help sell the look even more. Great Video !! Going to use what I learned here a lot - Liked and subscribed.
That’s definitely a nice addition to add some extra motion! Thanks for the sub 💪🏻
so power packed information in one go.
Thanks!
Very nice explanation thankyou so much 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 you solved my problem
Happy to hear that 👌🏻
This tutorial was so great thanks man
Thank you, you’re very welcome 🙌🏻
I learned a lot of things from your video. Thank You very much!
Glad I could help!
Great job man!!!
Thank you!
Great tutorial, thank you!
I added a suspension effect to assign the wheels and the body to two different empties.
Thanks! And nice work, thatll add a lot of extra realism
What an awesome video and tutorial. Makes you stop and think before buying one of those "ready made" add ons! Very many thanks!
Thanks a lot!
Thanks for the tutorial it was a good one
Thanks you’re welcome 🙌🏻
Hi, Awesome tutorial. So glad that you rig the wheels yourself and not just use the popular add-on to do all the fun work. I was just wondering, you add a constraint to the car to follow the empty but you parent the wheels to empty. Why not parent the car to the empty?
Thank you! Glad you like it.
I suppose parenting the car to the empty would work fine overall, but it gives less flexibility. Since the constraint gives you an 'influence' parameter, which could enable you to get better control over things like the car body bouncing around (due to suspension etc). I guess for this specific result both options would result in the same. It just shows another approach to 'linking'' together parts I suppose! 👍
That is a great tutorial!
Thank you!
Thanks for the tutorial! Really helpful on my Car commercial custom car lol
Glad it helped!
I love car animations sir your so good boy I like this channel I am fane this channel I love love this channel my favorite channel thank you so much
Thanks a lot, appreciate the kind words!
Great tutorial as always. I love car animations, they always look good when they're done right.
Question: I know you said this was a basic car animation but in a situation where the car changes direction I presume you would have to alter the code for the rotation of the wheels if you're going from a y to x axis ? or even the z axis if it's going over a hill ?
Love your work 👍🦘
Thanks again Nigel! Yeah you’re absolutely right. This ‘rig’, if you will, is only usable to go forward. You can add in rotation on the Z axis, depending on the movement on the X location however. So you could add basic ‘turns’ as such. It is very limited though and if you want to do more ‘advanced’ movement with cars it would be better to just use the car rigger add-on to generate fancy rigs which will allow you to do all the natural car movements. The add-on is free btw, but i’m not sure exactly what it’s called. But Google is your friend ;-)
@@KaizenTutorials Thanks for the info. I didn't know there is a car rig addon, i'll look into that.
Cheers 👍
Good work!
Thanks!
amazing tutorial
Thank you! Cheers!
What is your favorite car? I'm not a really big car guy myself, but I've always had a soft spot for classic cars just like this Datsun!
P.S. If you're having trouble setting up the materials; here's how I set mine up for this car specifically; imgur.com/a/kEGyqAh
I loved the Audi Skysphere when I heard of it. Its just a concept car right now but the thing is super cool. It has an adjustable car and with one touch, the steering wheel goes inside and the car activates self driving mode. Also super dope thing is that it physcially elongates itself 🤯
1970 Dodge Charger
Nice thats a great classic!
What's the next video you are working on?
Something to do with #TeamSeas! I hope to get it out tuesday at the latest. It will be something with underwater scenes, lighting and particle systems and supporting the cause!
thankyou very much, your content helped me so much
Happy to hear that!
Great👏👏
Thanks!
Yess! I made my first good driving animation haha, thank you for tutorial!
Glad I could help!
Great tutorial. Can you edit the driver expression to increase the rate the wheels spin? On my example they spin very slowly when the empty is moved (using a different model)
I guess you could, but the best way to do it is just to have the object move more distance. This keeps things realistic in the way the physics behave. More distance in the same time = more speed. Also you can up the motion blur to make it seem like the object is moving faster than it is.
Great tutorial, everytime i add a driver my wheels changes the position on the coordinate system. I applied all transformations of the empty and the wheel. Both having 0,0,0 on local, but when i add driver the wheel moves to a different position on x axis. Thanks man
That sounds strange since you have applied transformations… weird! Fee free to mail me some screenshots of your setup at kaizentutorials@gmail.com and ill have a look.
@@KaizenTutorials wow thanks, i try again and if it does not work i wil mail you! Thanks, i saved the mail,if you dont want to have it public, you can remove it.
Nah it’s fine i’ve got it posted under several posts and it’s also up in my channel bio so no worries. Good luck!
I figured it out. My cars wheels were in qanterion WXYZ coordinates. Changing this to Euler XYZ fixed this in the object properites (wuhere the x,yz, is)
Yeah!! Car animations are sicc! I always wanted to make them in Blender but considered out of my league. Can you share the beam thingy model that you made in timelapse 🥺🥺
I am not that good in Blender so it would be super helpful also appreciate your work. You uploaded so quickly after that rocket sim video thanks
Nice! Yeah I'm trying to keep 'm coming sooner, rather than later now.
But like I said in the video the tunnel is very simple. It's just a plane with some simple extrudes. The beams on the top are even easier; just scale a cube on 1 axis and make it big. Then apply the scale with Ctrl + A, go into edit-mode and add some loop cuts with Ctrl + R. Then just take the two most outside faces (on the bottom side of the beam) and pull these down with G. Afterwards make sure to add a Bevel modifier with a low value and unwrap the model with U > Smart UV project. Add the material from Blenderkit and voila, you got it!
I'm sure you can do it! Good luck :-)
Thnx I will make it soon when I get time :)
Let me explain better. I made my own Tires using the torus mesh. When I add the drivers to the wheel the wheel rotates sideways instead of the way a wheel normally rotates. I would greatly appreciate help if possible.
Yeah that's probably because the current rotation needs to be applied! It already has a given rotation (since you rotated the torus mesh) and now it get's messed up. Alsomaybe try recentering the origin, by going to mesh>origin>set to geometry. This will make sure the centre of your torus is the actual point of rotation. Hope this helps!
Im wondering what the file type you imported was? I don't normally import objects I havent made, and there were several options on the download
I believe it was an FBX or an OBJ, i hardly ever use any other format. Sometimes, if no other option is possible I use an DAE file. But usually just FBX or OBJ.
Bro please make more video like that about car blenders....... We really need this
Thank you! I will definitely consider it 🙌
hey man, great video. just curious how long a quick animation like this takes to render out? Thanks in advance!
Thanks! I can’t remember exactly to be honest but I think this was about 250 frames long at about 20 sec per frame tops. So about an hour of rendering. But if you optimize it and set the samples and everything up right, according to the tips in my render video you should be able to get it a lot faster. 20 minutes should be doable 🙏🏻
Wow 🤩 This animation looks polished and good tutorial too.
I needed some help, when I import the car model, it looks all black and all the materials are black, I checked it in the shader editor and I see that all the different nodes have a grey BSDF and the normal map is put into the Normal socket and the color in the normal map is a purple tone.
One thing to note is that the Principled BSDF is put into the surface output of the material output node. So, I am not able to troubleshoot the issue
Thanks a lot!
Yeah, this is somehow an issue with the model. You will have to fix this manually, sadly. You can do this by just deleting the Principled BSDF node for every material and replacing it with a new one. I have no idea WHY this works, but it does. Good luck!
@@KaizenTutorialsOk thanks I will try that also there are like no image textures or roughness values that I need to keep in mind. Its just a BSDF node and a Normal Map. So can you share a screenshot of anyone material that you did?
I've made some screenshots for you. Here you can see how I set it up. It's very basic, but it works. imgur.com/a/kEGyqAh
@@KaizenTutorialsThankyou soo much. I get it now and I would be able to make the materials. The node setup is really helpful. Usually while importing models from sketchfab, sometimes the textures are missing but in this one, its a whole new case
Hii firstly thanks for this great tutorial this is very helpful and i am having the same problem what I have to do to solve this ? The link u provided of screenshots is not working can u please help me out from this problem
Subscribed ❤️❤️
Thanks! 🖤
Exactly what I was looking for…
Awesome! 💪🏻
Thank you sir 🙂
You’re welcome!
im stuck with with the UV Editor, instead of the grid showing at the far left like on yours, it's filling up the entire grid with wide rectangles, when i adjust them and add the road material, it doesn't look right,
The wide rectangles probably mean there’s some scaling issues. Make sure to select your road mesh and apply the scale with CTRL+A and then hit U and choose unwrap. Hope that helps!
It is amazing and very releastic!
Btw, I like the background music you used in this video, where did you get it from?
Thank you! All music in my videos comes from the CZcams Audio Library. :-)
@@KaizenTutorials @Kaizen Tutorials I tried to find that, but didn't find it. Can you pls... link every bg music you use in your videos. So that we can also listen to it separately. Plus, can you just link this music in the reply you post to me. Thanks!!
You need to click your icon, top-right, then go to CZcams Studio and then you can find it on the left side. There you'll find thousands of songs which you can all use in your video. I can't link them, but the names of the songs I used are; No Sugar - Stayloose, Storms - Stayloose and Overdrive - Corbyn Kites.
Great tutorial, I have a question about the sky texture. It looks different now in blender 3.0. I only got 2 options: Hosek/Wilkie and Preetham.
Thank you! Could it be you're not using a stable build? So maybe like an alpha build? I'm in 3.1.2 (stable) and definitely still have the Nishita Sky Texture!
@@KaizenTutorials and how do I know that I am not using it😂. Is it a add on or option you can enable?
Bottom right cornor should say which version you're using! If you can't seem to get it to work feel free to send me an email at business@kaizen3d.com so I can help you sort it out :-)
@@KaizenTutorials ahh thanks, It worked! I used blender 2.85🤦🏻♂️
Great tutorial. I have a quick question on the car speed. Your car speed animation comparatively slower than mine. My car is fast. Am I missing anything ? I have the same linear interpolation and 240 frames.
Thank you! The speed of the car, in this case, depends on the length it travels. If you want it to move slower, just make sure the end point (final position keyframe) is less far away from the first point! Good luck.
In a car making clip, when you press shift + z, that part is colored, but when I do that, nothing happens.
Please guide me how to fix it
Sorry, I'm not sure I understand.
Do you have a video on how to add texture to the car if every part of it are join? I'm having hard time figuring out how to texture the car when all of it are joined.
No I don't, but you can always just simply separate parts with P or Alt+P and then texture them and after that rejoin them.
i need help i dont even know how to setup that 3d model and jow apply those materials to that car and make it ready to the point whom to which you started showing the car
You have to delete all existing materials, make new ones and use the textures for it.
amazing
thanks
from brazil
Thanks from 🇳🇱!
Thank you sir!
You are welcome!
Please upload more car animation tutorial.
How does the loop cut work into the uv editing mine turns into a bunch of lines rather than boxes?
I'm not sure I understand what you mean
tutorial was great but my only worry is the wheels spin in circles and not as if they were going down the road, have any advice? 😊
Thanks You can add generated keyframe noise on the Z location to get the wheels to bounce slightly. This'll make it look more like they're on a (not so smooth) road!
heyy, when i move the Empty, the wheels also moves with the Z location. How to fix?
Well I believe I only moved my empty on the X or Y axis, preventing this from happening. A workaround though could be to instead of parenting the wheels to the empty, use an object constraint 'Copy Location' with the Empty as the target and make sure to only enable the constraint on the X and Y axis and disable ze Z axis. This should make it so that the wheels follow along with the empty on every axis except the Z. Hope this helps any!
Everything working well, but my wheels are rotating slowly. It doesn't match the speed. What should I do?
You have your rotation set to Quaternion and it should be XYZ. Try changing that and it should work as expected!
One question please 🙏
Can I draw the car in illustrator but from one side and then export it to blender and do the same technique? Of course with the body set to one piece and the wheels separated
Yeah you could! As long as the wheels are separate objects it should work. You’ll just import the illustrator files as images.
Video muito bom, eu to tentando complicações na hora de adicionar o driver de comando na rotação das rodas com o objeto vazio, está dando '' python restricted for security'' ou Expressão Python Inválida, como resolvo isso?
Hmm I don’t really know why it would do that. You’re probably having some minor issue with the code. Try redoing the steps from 0 and make sure to follow along 100%. If that doesn’t work feel free to email me at business@kaizen3d.com!
can u link the whole blender tutorial u did so i can swap the car and all that
I’m not sure I understand what you mean. You want the complete projectfile?
After importing the car, the files were all messed up without proper grouping( the car was not labelled as 'car' and 'wheels', it was randomly named as cylinder 1,2,3,etc and planes). Do you have any solutions for this problem?
Yeah, I had the same. The naming shouldn't matter to much, but you're best off by starting to parent everything together with Ctrl + P, except the wheels. So make the entire car 1 object, but keep the wheels seperate. Then you have the same starting point as I did in this video and you should be able to follow along without any issues! Good luck 🙌
Alright, I will try that. Thanks!
When it saids downloads which one do I put there’s many like fbx usdz gltf glb sorry I’m just such a noob and need a lot of help
FBX is usually a good one for Blender!
I want to try this but I can't even figure out the control p part which is right at the start. It doesn't work for me lol
Could be your parts have already parented object. Make sure to separate the parts first by selecting and hitting Alt+P. Then try again. Hope it works!
Do you have a tutorial, how animate car, where it doesn't go only stright, but also turns right or left?
Nope, I don't. sorry!
I made my own car with its own wheels but i used a torus which is on its side so it wont rotate like a wheel is supposed to. What do I do? I need help plsss.
Make sure yo apply the rotation. So CTRL+A and apply Rotation. Then retry adding the drivers! Hope that helps :-)
When i download my car, it's all black? Is there a way to change it or do i have to colour it myself manually?
Yeah this has to do with the import if the FBX somehow. Not sure and it doesn’t happen with every model. You’ll have to manually recreate the textures using the image textures and everything that came with the download!
How'd you separate the wheels from the vehicle model? I'm trying to follow this tutorial at the moment. Using a sketchfab model as well.
been 3 months since you asked this question, did u figured it out yet? im stuck on the same part :(
I guess I forgot to reply sorry! You can clear parenting by selecting the objects and hitting alt+p and choose clear parent! That should work.
Noice
the tutorial helps me out but im struggling on how to make a wheel spin. it wont move at all???
That's weird! Have you set up the driver and parented the wheel to the empty?
Can anyone tell me how to import it with textures and all materials pls I download it in glTF and tried the original tho
For most assets you'll have to set it up manually..
Amazing animation. Always wanted to make a car animation and this will help me a lot.
Question: Im stuck on the UV unwrapping problem. It wont let me unwrap the model. It keeps giving me errors saying that the object has a non-uniform scale.
How do i fix that?
Thanks! What object are you unwrapping? I think this means first of all that you should apply the object scale. So hit CTRL + A with the object selected and apply scale. Then also decide what type of unwrap works best. So hit U and choose one of the options. Usually the basic ones work pretty well!
@@KaizenTutorials I was unwrapping the road model but it gave me that error. You were right about applying the object scale. as soon as i did that, it unwrapped onto the UV editor. Thanks for helping! +1 Subscriber
@@KaizenTutorials I ran into another problem. How do I put the textures that came with the car, on the car?
Im a beginner at Blender and 3D animation so idk how to do it
Yeah it’s a bit of a pain. You need to recreate all of them with the supplied textures. Delete the current materials, then make a new one and give them the right textures. Hope that helps!
it's awesome and doo more like curving and crashing to a object etc 😍 😍
Thanks! This is just for simple basic animations, but I will definitely think about it for a future video. 👍
sir i want to do 3-4 renders of the car animation so should i make those senes seperate with differenct camera?
Hmm I'm not sure. It kind of depends on what you're going for. If the renders are fairly similar do it in 1 scene. If not make separate scenes.
How do we make the wheels seperate and the body of the car as one?
Using CTRL+P you can parent objects together. So you can select all the body parts, hit CTRL+P and combine them into one parent object. Then select the 4 wheels and the main body part. Now parent this and the 4 wheels should be in a seperate object, compared to the body. Good luck!
I have problem when adding a driver. the tires spin on location x but when I put location y they don't move
That's strange? It should work if you follow the steps in this video...
When I imported my car it wasn't well sorted like you had in the video.. the car model has tons of parts which totally had me 🤕🤧 still I haven't sorted it out please help me
Yeah sometimes imported models can be a mess. You can select parts and parent them together with CTRL+P. Just select all the parts and parent them together and it should be 1 thing you can use!
In which format you download from sketchfab like (fbx, glb etc...)
These days I almost always use USD. It's smaller in filesize and easy to load in with all the textures!
I have an issue after applying drivers wheel stops rotating after cover some distance
That's because your wheels probably still have Quaternion rotation. You need to switch their rotation to just use XYZ rotation, that should fix it! You can do this in the object properties I believe.
Hey! It looks great! I'm new to Blender and I'm trying to do what you are doing but keep struggling with importing the car with textures. Can I get any help here?
It's a bit of an issue as this specific car imports very strange. Everything is black and the only way to fix it is by manually remaking all the textures with the provided image textures.
Thank u brooo
youre welcome!
how did you add the car model in blender? its to hard to import the car model in blender!
It can be quite hard! I imported the model from Sketchfab. Made sure all objects were parented to eachother (except the wheels) with Ctrl + P. Parented the main object to the empty (which is used to drive the wheel rotation and actually move the car), aswell as all the wheels seperately. Then I created all the materials and added all the textures to them to make it look good!
When I bring up a plain axis, its showing up a blue dotted line, what's that all about?
Not sure what you mean exactly! You mean an empty? The blue dotted line could be towards a parent object… but i believe those are usually black!
Thanks for the tutorial. I'm on blender 3.0 and every time I move the car the wheels rotate for a short distance then after they stop. Do you have any idea why that is?
No problem! Yes, I believe this is an issue related tot the rotation driver. I suppose your coordinate system is still set to Quaternion instead of XYZ! Change that and re-add all the wheel drivers and I believe you should be good to go :-)
@@KaizenTutorials Thanks for your response I will give a try
@@KaizenTutorials It worked! Thank you!
Glad it did! 💪🏻
my road dont show up on uv editing tab like you? i am wondering what im doing wrong. i applied the scale and unwrapped it but its not showing up? i am in the render result view in uv editing, is that the right one? i dont see anything else to do
Hmm it should work. It could be your UV's aren't aligned with your texture or you are simply not inputting the texture in the material! Make sure to add an image texture to the materials and use the road texture.
Hey I have a question when you download with the 3-D model what format did you use?
I believe I downloaded this model in OBJ, or FBX!
@@KaizenTutorials thanks
how do i import the car to the blender
Download a car model, unpack the zip file (if necessary), go to file > import > and select the same file type as the car. Usually it's FBX, OBJ or DAE. Then import it and it should be in your scene!
How to do the extrude thing? I'm stuck on that part
Which part do you mean specifically?
for some reason my car wheels moving so slow when i move the car, how can i can fix that?
Set the rotation for the wheels to XYZ and not quaternion
Thanks for this tutorial!
I would like to ask, why my wheels spin a little slower than they should when moving the car?
No problem! You’re probably using quaternion rotation instead of xyz. Try changing that and it’s probably going to rotate normally
@@KaizenTutorials I see that I have rotation mode is XYZ Euler. Maybe something wrong with my car. I'm just using my own model, not the one from your example.
@@KaizenTutorials Tried on other simple model and it's work fine, but didn't with my current project (spin slower) :)
why when I do the thing to combine everything into a car object and then make wheels sperate does everything get scrambled and car parts r everywhere?
That means the parenting isn't done correctly and after removing the parent from the wheels all the other parts do weird stuff. Try setting all the origins to the geo for each part and parenting in a logical manner.
@@KaizenTutorials okay thank you
bro in which format you donloaded the car 3d modal
Fbx!
Great, but I still couldn't figure out how you add material and texture to the car!??
I recreated them using the attached textures!
Thanks
No problem
my pc says no🤧
Sorry to hear that
Hey man! can you please just tell me compositing settings values? I'm just not able to get that vibrant look of yours :(
I think in this one I didn't do much besides just use Very High or High contrast in the Look. You can find this in the Color Management, part of the Render Properties.
my wheel is not centering to the origin. it's creating a wobbling effect what to do
You can go to mesh > origin > set origin to geometry to get it centered in your wheel.
Lovely tutorial and very helpful ❤ I have one question tho: when applying the sky texture there are no shadows, I'm new to blender and so far I haven't found any solution to this problem
Thank you! I think you might be in EEVEE? EEVEE doesn't provide shadows for HDRI's I believe. Try adding a sunlamp instead.
@@KaizenTutorials Thanks a lot!
hey i cannot find the link of camera shake addon
Here it is; github.com/cessen/camera_shakify good luck!
how do the car tires keep turning even though the car is running on Y or X?
Make sure to set the rotation of your wheels to normal XYZ and NOT Quaternion.
when you downloaded the car how did you straighten out the wheels?
uhm just reset their rotation I think?
Wow! It's so cool! How long you've been working with blender?
Thank you! I’ve been working with Blender on and off for about 3-4 years. But I’ve been using it frequently for about 1,5-2 years!
my version of blender didn't come with 3D blenderkit pre-installed
You can download it for free. Just Google Blenderkit addon and install it :-)
