    CarPlay and USB-C are best friends! You just have to know which cable to use. So, do not be scared, watch this and learn something. I am using an iPhone 15 Pro with seven cables:
    1. An ordinary USB-A to USB-C (Type C) cable - no data support
    2. IKEA LILLHULT USB-A to USB-C (Type C) cable
    3. Baseus CATYS-02 USB-A to USB-C (Type C), 1m, 66W
    4. Belkin Boost Charge Flex USB-A to USB-C (Type C), 1m
    5. Tellur Led Glowing Connection USB-A to USB-C (Type C), 1,2m
    6. and 7. Two high speed USB-A to USB-C (Type C) cables from NVMe enclosures.

    DISCLAIMER
    ============================
    All tested cables in this video are working with iPhone 15 Pro and Mazda 3 2023 without issues. This does not necessary means they will work with all cars. There are reports on different platforms that many users have issues with iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max and cars with USB-A port. Your choice for now is to test as many cables as possible and make sure they are known and reputable brand. Also, mandatory DATA CABLES. Some users report they have been been able to get around this issue by using cables from Belkin, Sony, Baseus and even Nintendo. Others had no such luck. It probably depends of the car or combination between the car and the cable you use.
    Also, sometimes rebooting the phone will make it work. You still need a data cable. This is not changed :)
    Of course this is something which should not happen and Apple should come with a solution (a software update for sure). Per MacRumors (www.macrumors.com/2023/09/29/..., the issue has been reported to Apple and they are currently working on a solution.

    I could not get my iPhone 15 Pro to connect to Apple CarPlay in my 2018 Honda CR-V. got a data/charge cord (the Belkin one mentioned in this video). In order for it to work, I had to reboot the audio system in my CRV (hold down power button on audio for 10 seconds). Now it works! Thanks!!!

      @@zubilitic I have a 15 pro but not the same car, my CarPlay system was retrofitted via MMI box. The phone is still new so not much information is out there regarding this topic, you’re one of the few that has information related to wired CarPlay. I also have an iPhone 11 that is on iOS17 and the lightning cable works just fine so it’s not the OS nor the CarPlay system as CarPlay works just fine with USB2.0 speed through lightning connection. However my 15 pro would drop signal after ~15 seconds.

    • @zubilitic
      @zubilitic  Před 8 měsíci +1

      Thank you for your willingness to check for me. I will contact the manufacturer on this end and see if there is a newer firmware version. On the other hand, I have tested 2 more USB C 3.2 cables and my 15 pro's Carplay signal still gets dropped like others. One of them came with a C to lightning adapter and my 11 connects just fine. Hopefully it's a thing Apple can fix with a new update since carplay only needed 2.0 speeds.

    • @zubilitic

      Yes indeed USB2.0 is enough for CarPlay. It seems for certain combinations (e.g. cars and cable and phone), there may be some incompatibility. Kindly please keep us informed.

    The problem that most of us iphone 15 pro max owners experiencing is that most of these Cables Don't stay connected to Carplay. Mine connects for about 1 minute and then goes out & back on again, so it's completely useless if your trying to listen to music or using it for Navigation. Can you please post an update on which one of these Cables you have had no issues with plugged in for at least 1 hour?
    Thank you!

    • @zubilitic
      @zubilitic  Před 5 měsíci

      Hello,
      I have no issues with any of these cables tested in this video, even used for a longer period. I have shown briefly there that they work but I have used them longer, took them one by one and used them during my trips. No disconnect.
      There are 3 parties involved in this: the car, the phone and the cable. OK, 4 parties: also the phone's software (iOS). OMG there is also 5th: the software part of the car. I'll stop, there are so many parties involved. Do you can see how many variables we have.
      As long as the cable supports data, it should work. If you test more data cables and you have problems with all of them, then the issue is not with the cable. It's either the car's software or some compatibility issue between the car's software and iphone's. First thing is to signal this issue with your car dealer, maybe they have some software update for your car. Then you can even call Apple's support and let them know too. If they do not know, they will not work on a fix.
      I do not own other car with CarPlay so this is the only car I have tested the cables with. When I did this video, the main topic was the cables but this issue evolved and a fix here is not the same fix there. And more people will buy and use these phones with their cars, more different problems will appear. Clearly something must be done and seeing so many issues with different brands, the solutions stays on Apple's side because CarPlay is theirs also, no matter the car.
      So my only suggestion is if nothing works, bombard Apple with complaints.
      Sorry for the long response.

    • @zubilitic
      @zubilitic  Před 8 měsíci +1

      Hello,
      Why Apple does not have such cable yet is indeed strange. However there are cables from other brands (like Belkin) on their page.
      I have not tested any dongle because going that road most probably will bring more incompatibilities. I'l make time to test some with an original USB-A to lightning cable but often the price is around the same range so why not get directly a cable.
      While I have not tested any Honda yet (I have an old one from 94 but it doesn't have USB port or CarPlay :), I do not think you will have problems with Belkin. Also, it is around $10 so it should not be that difficult to test it. In the worst case scenario you can also send the cable back.
      Thank you for your comment, hope my response is up to your expectation and kindly please share the results.

      Yes, as mentioned before: data cable :D
      I have added in the comments, link to the presentation page of cables tested by me (successful ones) but you should not limit to these only as I have read over the internet that many data cables are working. To some even ordinary no name from Amazon.
      Also, if you have a USB-A to USB-C cable in the house that is used only for data transfer (not charging cable), like for external disks, try that one because those types are 100% made for data and they should work.
      The problem with them is usually they are short and thick but use one just for testing purpose.
      Thank you Terry!

      Between 1 and 2 meters should be more than enough. You can use a shorter one only if you plan to only keep the phone around the port but it would be difficult if you want to use the phone while stationary. Longer than 2 meters (unless the port is very far) kinda makes no sense in a car. I have tested a 3m one and there was too much cable :)

      Hello, most of the time, the brand and model are the same all over the world so I am sure you should be able to easily find them in your area. If not, as mentioned before, stick to known brands, take a look at apple's website for inspiration and buy them from where the price is lower. Also, feel free to try any brand as long as it has DATA. Finding an usb-c cable is easier than lightning because usb-c is a standard port available on multiple devices and they no longer require to have MFi (made for iphone/ipad/iwhatever) standard.
