    The crucial thing is to get a proper fitting here. Despite all the technical stuff, each club suits your swing or it doesn't. I'm getting a whole new set of clubs and went to the fitting dying to get the glamour Titleist TSR, but simply couldn't hit the blasted thing. Finished up with a Stealth (which I don't really like the look of lol), which I hit consistently shot after shot.

    Great video lads! I think some high handicap players would benefit from low launch, low spin driver models despite their slower swing speed and higher handicap. Often times the high handicap player delivers the club in a way that generates a lot of loft and spin and these “better player” drivers are exactly what they need. Obviously being fit is key but these better player drivers are not to be overlooked for all abilities. I think the marketing may scare some players away when it’s actually ideal for them.

      Newbie here. Does less spin mean less risks of diviating your ball trajectory ? Does less spin also mean better distance ?

    • @legend9018
      @legend9018 Před 2 lety +1

      @@William_Saint-Agne yes you are correct although some players can deliver the club in a way that can still make the ball go offline (poor face angle, club path etc). However lower spin on a shot that slices or hooks will usually end up better versus a higher spinning shot. As far as distance goes there is such a thing as too low spin which means the ball will not stay airborne long enough to get a good distance. That is why you should get fit to optimize those numbers. My point was that players should try some of these drivers and not just go to what’s suggested for their level. Irons on the other hand are a different story and mishits with blade irons are not as good as mishits with more forgiving irons. The driver is unique though because of the way we strike it perched up on a tee. Hope this helps 🏌🏻‍♂️

      @@William_Saint-Agne Low spin drivers tend to work best for higher speed players, as more speed equals more spin.
      Low spin drivers are typically less forgiving. So long as the players has enough speed to launch a low spin driver optimally, yes low spin can add distance, but it won't be more accurate.

    As you say many of the top drivers or clubs are all very good. Identifying what suits you but also what you like the feel, sound of and gives you confidence as a result is important as is choice of shafts. For example since my m2 have not found a driver that gives me all that until now in the stealth. Being a leftie some limited choices to test - such as mizuno. Don’t like the look, sound of ping nor the ltdx.

      @@todaysgolfer indeed as you say the numbers etc are specific to the day, to the individual etc. in the end it is about finding the right head, shaft and even ball relative to the clubs and how they respond that gives someone the optimum performance for their swing and their game and their course/s. I for example have seven different brands in my bag - if one counts also the ball.

    • @todaysgolfer
      @todaysgolfer  Před 2 lety

      Thanks for the feedback Robert. Possibly yes, but that spec would have been out side of our test spec, so it wouldn't allow an accurate comparison to the other models on test.

    • @todaysgolfer
      @todaysgolfer  Před 2 lety +1

      Really good question Anthony. Obviously on a launch monitor a fitter will show you what you gain by going with a lower spin model that's more suited to your speed, but ultimately most of us would rather be playing our second shoot from the fairway.
      obviously we know knowing about your delivery, but our gut feel would be to favour forgiveness, over just flat out speed and distance, which isn't your weakness.

      The majority of new drivers are launched at the start of each year. There are always launches later in the year and, when possible, we test these drivers separately and then include them in the following year's main test. If we were always waiting for every new driver to be released then we could never do the test as there will always be the odd one or two that launch at a different time.

      @todaysgolfer  Před 2 lety

      We can only report on what happened during testing Danny, and then make everyone aware in the video that we're not saying they will also gain the same amount that Neil did.
      As we say in the video, don't take Stealth Plus out of context. It's a low spin driver that worked incredibly well for Neil (when low spin drivers don't normally suit him), but in the big scheme of things there's only 3 yards between it and the Callaway Rogue ST Max in the forgiving driver category.
      In our opinion this year is like the perfect storm for our tester. Callaway have made a more forgiving driver (the Rogue ST), where the previous Epic and Mavrik were more forward weighted, for more ball speed, and used face tech to try and up MOI. Where the Rogue ST is more back weighted, which naturally slows ball speed. At the same time TaylorMade have launched a carbon face driver which is all about better energy transfer and less drip-off on off centre hits, and the Stealth Plus doesn't feel like the lowest spinning driver on the market, which is also a better fit for Neil.
      We don't usually tend to show total distance because common thinking in the industry, is that once a drive hit's the ground it's out of the golfers control as to what happens next. No driver is designed to run further once hitting the ground.
      Hope that helps.

    You guys put in a lot of effort/work but if you're really working with different (stock) shafts across the board the comparison is rather useless to be honest. Sorry if I'm wrong with my assumption but if I'm right this is a huge nogo. There's no way that you see 5° of launch and 5mph ball speed differentials with todays top driver models if you really compare apples with apples. All robot tests will show that as well. If you built these models with the same shafts, shaft lengths and swing weight and only use a decent strike pattern you will end up with around 1° and maybe 1-2mph ballspeed of difference between the models, not more.

    • @todaysgolfer
      @todaysgolfer  Před 2 lety

      Completely understand where you're coming from, but the majority of drivers are still bought unfitted, hence why we like to use stock shafts.
      It's a lovely idea fitting each driver with the same shaft, at the same length and weight, but in reality this often isn't a choice golfers will have the opportunity to purchase.
      We feel it's quite important to show a comparison between what golfers can buy off the rack. Especially as these clubs are at the spec brands have had the opportunity to 'tune/set-up (with the shaft of their choice, and a heavier or lighter headlight/swingweight)' for their intended target golfer.
