  • Hello and welcome to another episode. Viewers that have been following my channel know my 88 Toyota is currently dead in my driveway. This has prompted me to take my daily driver on some 4x4 trails.
Meet triple threat, a 1998 JGC Limited 5.9L. Chrysler decided in its last run of the ZJ to fit it with a 360 from the dodge pick-up. This engine is bolted to a beefier 46RE transmission. Coupled to a 249 all time awd transfer case with option for low range. With only 14,286 sold across the globe, not only is this thing mostly forgotten, its a very rare model.
This particular ZJ has no modifications. It is as it was when it rolled out of the factory 20+ years ago. It has very well used 225/70/16 winter tires. This does not seem to hold it back at all. This awd station wagon is a legend. I hope you enjoy this video as much as I enjoy driving this underdog of a car.
Cat in the video is Sampson, he loves to go for long drives, go mountain biking and hit up gnarly 4x4 trails. He's one of a kind.
    Thanks for watching.

What stock 4x4 cars can come close to competing with a 98 Jeep ZJ?
Must have a unibody to qualify as contender :]

True it ticks a few of the boxes, but 4runner has open diffs, cloth interior, no ac and no factory heated seats lol.
In todays economy the 4runner is the better option. 5.9L has an affinity for premium fuel.
