Spotted puffer fish are able incredibly small and survive in brackish water so they're often sold in freshwater fish shops
Fun fact, dolphins will intentionally play with pufferfish so they can get high off the poison. Dolphins literally puff puff pass.

@ComradeCatpurrnicus Dolphins are sometimes very cruel. They've been known to bully smaller porpoises and other animals. With extreme intelligence goes extreme behaviour.
@@castleanthrax1833 That's very unfortunate, hopefully, with time, they evolve away from that behavior. Humans are certainly still working on it, and we supposedly have great "intelligence", although sometimes, I really wonder.
@ComradeCatpurrnicus I don't know if it's the behaviour of ALL dolphins, or like humans, there are some more hostile individuals. Whatever the case may be, I'd say it's unlikely to change. Even humans who display great empathy are capable of terrible bullying, too.

isn’t it interesting? many things evolved to have traits that would get rid of predators, and yet we find the things we consume bland if they don’t have those very things. caffeine, mint, spice… I guess this doesn’t necessarily apply to pufferfish because you have to remove the toxins but yknow. I guess the point is that those things never stopped us. we might even like it, which was the opposite of the intended effect!!!
@@moonlightnymph7975thats the legendary fugu, its not a mild toxin like those you mention, its deadly and people die every year eating them. They also have a nasty bite able to take fingers off or just chunks of flesh.

All these people holding them are basically scaring them. It may look cool, but the puffing up is a defense mechanism and they only do it if they feel threatened. I once took care of a porcupine puffer for a while. Not once did I see him puffed.

I’ve swam with puffer fish before. I was on a trip and on the beach there were these floating platforms you could rest on with hammocks ect, anyways I was swimming to one of the platforms completely fine and normal when I see like 50 puffer fish in the water below me, I freaked out and went quickly on the island where I saw all of them looking up at me. Stayed on the island for a good while before I jumped to get off, meanwhile there was this lady literally petting them

Pufferfish can live in salt or fresh water. I got one for my aquarium once and they have puppy-like personalities, but it ate all of my other fish.

I take care not to trouble myself with any enemies, like winning and losing, that would cause me to lose sleep at night. That is how I deal with society, and I know that is what brings me happiness. Although, if I were to fight I wouldn’t lose to anyone.

Not really, the smooth back pufferfish is fucking disgustingly looking, I got 4 while fishing, and it doesn’t even look like a pufferfish, it just inflate and it got some good strength (they were 50cm long each)

I live in Virginia Beach. I found one on the shore once. I was in shock because I didn't think we had them here. It was yellow and brown, dead, but still in its puffed state.
