  • Hi everyone! Today I wanted to talk a little about one of the oldest trees in existence. Not only is the Ginkgo biloba a living fossil but it is also a beautiful tree to behold in the fall when its jade leaves turn to the most gorgeous shade of yellow. This tree does have its special set of quirks, for instance the tree usually grows taller the further north it is. Most tress benefit from the other way. Be sure to watch the full video so you can learn how to keep your Ginkgo thriving like I do! As always, Plant Prudently!

The history is amazing. Older than flowers.

No kidding. They've been around so long too that they don't have much that ails them. Also I'm not even gonna mention the stunning yellow leaves that grace us in the fall!

dude i just found your channel and i love it! i have about 16 small plants in my room, and i’m a beginner, but i’m hoping to get some bigger and more interesting plants soon! your videos are super informative and great, keep making them!

Thank you, that means a lot! That's where I got my start was with smaller plants, mostly cacti and carnivorous plants. After I caught the "plant" bug, and really got into them, especially with the bonsais, I wanted larger plants. The goal is to one day have my own large green house so I can have more room for the larger cacti and trees. It's cool to keep some in the house but then you start to run out of room. lol. Let me know if you have any questions or if you want to see a video on a plant! Good luck!

Dogwood tree fruit smell a certain way as well...I have a cute bonsai 😅 I stuck mine in the ground (pot and all, and fall leaves stuffed around like a blanket) for the winter, however our winter in the east coast was pretty mild so it’s hard to tell if that’s why my ginkgo was fine or not.

Do you keep your gingko bonsai in- or outdoors? I have a really small apartment without a garden but I really would like to have one :/ is it possible to keep it indoors?

I propagated a whole bunch of these in spring 2020 and they are still absolutely tiny with barely any growth.
About half made it through winter and woke up again. But They aren't really developing any leaf mass greater than what the cuttings had to begin with.
How do I make it grow faster ?

What is the best way to winter wrap a 6ft ginkgo? It gets down to -5Celcius on a bad winter, but spring frost killed all the leaves on our tree last march/april.

Hi! I have a 2-year ginkgo, I noticed it rotting at the bottom of its trunk, can you please advise me on how I can take care of that? I really want this baby to live

They need well drained soil and don’t tolerate sitting in water well, it may be over watered or not drying out enough where it is located
