Great video. This is how I'd do it if I was just tarting it up to sell the vehicle. But I just did this on an old car that I'm slowly restoring, I did a few things better. 1. When masking, deflate the tyre so you can get the tape slightly under the bead. (If you're not removing the tyre) 2. Use zinc or etch primer first on bare metal before filler primer. 3. After filler primer, always sand it smooth using 1000 grit paper. And do multiple coats until its perfectly smooth. 4. Do multiple coats of colour, and follow up with 1-2 coats of clear gloss lacquer. This improves the shine and durability of the finish. 5. Do both sides of the wheel, and if possible, remove the tyres. I've done this before and without tyres/weights/valve, it's easier to hang the wheel from something and spray all the sides and inside the wheel in one hit. Plus, in theory you're removing/adding weight to the wheel so it should be balanced again for perfection. (Although I've done it both ways depending on the situation). Make sure you clean off the mating surface or mask it up, otherwise you need to retorque the wheel every 50 miles for a while, or remove and refit it a few times. I've had wheels come loose after being repainted because of paint on the hub flange of the wheel.
For really heavily rusted steel rims (say you live in New England) that has been neglected for years, I found it much more efficient to start with a screw driver/chisel/back of a hammer to knock loose and scrape off large chunks of road grime, dust, and chipping old paint. Then follow with a hand steel wire brush. Then coarse sand papers (80 grit). Leave rotary wire brush to the end because it can’t do much in heavy lifting.
Nice job but I would have taken the wheel weights off I would have taken the dents out of the rim that are around the edge and then maybe even replaced the valves so they're new other than that did a fine job

You did your van proud...I have the same design wheels on my Ram Promaster
Don't bother masking just smear washing up liquid over the tyre and wash off afterwards.
fine job, looks 100x better.

YAY! MORE ELECTRONIC DANCE MUSIC WHEEL REFURBISHMENT VIDEOS!!!
Nice job. How many cans of paint did you use?
Well done
The wire brush bit will be alright on a drill, rather than a grinder won't it? Good video :)
It will! Only, I find that the grinder is less harsh on the wrists and is a much quicker process altogether. The choice is yours though!

Have a link to the wire brush wheels?
looked up that primer, recommends 24hr drying time WTF surely not needed, how long did you leave b4 painting
And how do the wheels look now? 2 years later ;)
