I remember this concert so well. All the great stars of Hawaiian music Cazemiro brothers, Amy Gilliom but the Makah brothers and Jake stole the show that night for me. I live here now but this is one of the DVD's I always go back to for great entertainment!
The reason Jake Shimabukuro is such a great muscician is because he isnt in individual style, he plays in all sorts of ways to make antything sound wonderful, thats what ive noticed in his concerts and stuff, Jake is brilliant with an ukulele its unbelieveable to play considering his level of style and play!
it was probably newspaper. it was suppose to may the uke sound more electric, because back then he used allot of distortion and stuff. i've tried it, and it sorta worked.
I miss you uncle John Koko :'( RIP

Jerome Koko is hilarious. Long live the Makaha Sons.
oh that rocks, you can still see some of that kid style when he's performing now that he's older.
That was lots of fun to watch. Enjoyed it.
R.I.P. to Makaha Sons bassist John Koko, who died 6/25/2012. He was only 51 and was waiting for a heart transplant.
Missed sooo much, he is.

What a great song.
Jake just moves everywhere! I don't think it's possible for him to stay still while he plays...
The year the video was released was 2000 on PBS in Hawaii. I'm guessing it aired earlier than that.
