In Šumava (mountains in the south of Bohemia) they say - there is no bad weather, only bad clothes. It is true everywhere. :-)
I thougth this was a Norwegian/Icelandic saying :D
Well, try to pick clothrs for twister... :) but generaly ot seem to land well.
@@ultramarinus2478 I'm wearing "řopík vzor 37" for the twister. Little uncomfortable, but proven. You don't? :) But more seriously. In the mountains, sometimes the weather changes in a minute, and several times I was glad I made it back at all. And the Krkonoše in particular can do this pretty badly!
@@rpoulova I heard it first in Sweden. I don't buy it though. There are no good clothes for sunbathing in the rain, for example. It is just an excuse used by people who are stuck with bad weather.
@@paulselinger6658 I actually like bad weather. Not many people are outside and I like the contrast of me being dry and warm in my jacket while the elements are raging everywhere around.
When I was a kid, I had pneumonia. I was sent to recuperate at a school in Krkonose for the fresh mountain air.
The goats were so cute, especially the first one.

Interesting video, I liked the guy playing Nohavica´ song so well :-) You reminded me of my first english course shortly after the revolution in 1989 in Krušné hory, it was also raining and foggy almost all the time :-)

před 3 týdny jsme byli na stejném místě, i když jsme spali v údolí. Krkonoše mají své kouzlo a jsem rád, že i cizinci to mohou ocenit.
PELIŠKY !! 9:09. Tak dobrý flim. I developed my ear for Czech by watching this pořad dokala, maybe 20 times. The book it's based on is a good read as well (Hovno hoří by Petr Šabach) is also a great collection of stories.
I hate that movie because my father used to be the same as the character played by actor Kodet. When someone lives it there is nothing funny in it. But all of us 3 sisters are used to argue with encyclopedy in a hand. Pure logic.

Great video, we are a "Czenglish" couple who are based about an hour north from Prague. We were in Prague not long ago and it is beautiful but its nice to see how gorgeous the rural areas are as well. :D
I was in Šumava month ago and would love to go back or to beloved Krkonoše right away I love nature and countryside even with my alergies it imbues me with energy where city just gives me anxiety these days :D.

Hi Jen, the Old Quibbler at your service again! ;) Pec pod Sněžkou is my weak spot - as a kid I spent my best summer vacations in my life (just in the other "bouda" on the other side of Green Creek) and I love it there far more then in "Špindl" as Pec retains more of the spirit that Krkonoše mountains had before someone started to "aspenize" Špindl in 90's...
But let's skip nostalgy. Watching the guy singing "Nohavica" with american accent reminded me of an old idea I had for you. You have not made any review for a long time right (while you are quite good in it - no question about it!)? What about to do a review (or anaylsis) of something that you did not do in so far (as far as I know) - of a song? ;)
I have particulary one specific Czech (folk) songwriter and singer for you - Karel Kryl. In fact his songs are musicalized poems - so what about to check your Czech, your sense for poetry, music and Czech spirit at the same time? ;) Choose any (or all if you like) - of following songs and make your review - what do you say(?) OMG so cool Jen! :D. I would like to take part in some 100% english week so my english speach could improve :D. Also, Černá Hora is my favorite mountain in the Krkonoše, so I am glad you have visited and liked the view , its truly astonishing! :D :O. ALso, if you want to visit some other mountains, I really recommend you Jizerské Hory / right next to Krkonoše, a bit more west on map :D, then Šumava mountains located don south, very beautiful too, you can visit wild wolves there for example! :O Anm my no.1 place in the entire czechia- The Malá Skála! :D. Located in Český Ráj, close to town Turnov, its a Breathtaking paradise, excellent for summer week ! :D. Just visit yourself or first take a look on the google, im sure you wont hasitate with visit! :D. Great video! ;)
While living in a city of cancer (seriously), also know as Ostrava, I really miss those green roofs of mountain houses and hotels and the overall architecture of czech (near) mountain buildings. It's not as fancy as in Alps but not as rustic as in say Georgia, country not state. They are somewhat old but not ages old. It's just nice in my eyes.
If in Ostrava, then you should have the Beskydy mountains really close by...
Hi Keenmate, there is a small difference between the words “czech” and “bohemian”. Those chalets are bohemian beacause they were build by the Sudeten Germans.

@@DreamPrague yep, same here. İt's almost 2 years that we can't even go to the neighbouring state, not to mention overseas. And more than 2 months that we can't go beyond the radius of 5km. Very sad times.
Nice! I learnt just recently that "borůvky" are in fact bilberries, not blueberries!
Zbiral jsem boruvky v Cesku and I picked bluberries in Canada. Both are exactly same. Perhaps it is a matter of regional translation.

@@michaljanic1 Actually the american blueberries and european blueberries (billberries) are different species of plants, but of same genus. And there are differences in them. Blueberries (US) have white-green inside, are usually bit bigger. Billberries are smaller, darker in color and are also red/purple inside.
Yes, they can be grown anywhere, but thats where they originate from.
Similar problems and confusions are also with other plant translations. Very often are "brusinky" translated as "cranberries", but cranberries are in czech "klikva" while brusinky are apparently "lingonberries". Very similar species, same genus (also same as blue and bill berries) but different.

Just curious, is Tobik bilingual? How did his immersion weekend go? Did he try a conversation with the goats and wildlife, etc.? :-)
FYI, one of classmates just passed her bachelor degree state final exams and she probably would not have passed without all the extra language practice/assistance from one of the italki teachers that you recommended. So, thank you! You've made a big difference in helping someone else succeed!

@@pjaro77 Yankee (čti jenkí) je označení pro obyvatele Spojených států amerických, kterými je označují Britové, Kanaďané nebo Australané. Pro Američany jsou ale yankees hlavně obyvatelé severní části USA. Tato přezdívka údajně vznikla v době, kdy v Novém Amsterdamu (bývalé nizozemské kolonii v Severní Americe) vymysleli britští přistěhovalci jméno pro holandské sousedy. Má se za to, že yankee vznikl buď spojením Jan Kass (Jan Sýr) nebo dvou obvyklých nizozemských jmen Jan a Kees. Podle jiné verze přezdívka vnzikla během občanské války a vymysleli ji vojáci Konfederace k označení obyvatele Středozápadu, kteří bojovali na Jihu. Tato přezdívka se objevila ve známé písní Yankee Doodle a ve svém názvu ji má i známý americký baseballový klub New York Yankees
Our steps almost crossed twice with you this summer. We were in Česko-saské Švýcarsko, just week or two after you and we were in Krkonoše (similar location) in mid August as well :).

Hi Jan, Tobik came to us from Ukraine 5 years ago. He was sent to a Czech rescue kennel outside Prague and he was advertised on Facebook as needing a home. I think he might be trilingual!

Picking up mushrooms in National park?
When they are in the "Zonach klidu"(A zone of calm), which according to the new marking, is most of the peak areas, peat bogs and similary, they should also be specially marked in nature (tables, stripes on the trees) are not allowed picking. Alongside the sidewalk, and in other zones its allowed collected mushrooms, but not in large quantities.
Pred 4 lety jsem tam byl. Krkonose vypadaji trochu jako Nizke tatry. Kdyz jsme videl ty schody na Snezku, to se mnou zamavalo. K cemu to bylo dobre ? Paradoxne se mi slapalo po tech schodech hur nez po bezne lesni pesine.

Není za to náhodou i pokuta? Nebo jen když řidič nemá pás?
Pokuta hrozí každému pasažéru v silničním vozidle, který je přepravován na sedadle opatřeném bezpečnostním pásem neužívaje ho přitom.

Pozor na toho psa, nepouštět na volno, jinak ho někdo zastřelí. A bude to v souladu se zákonem.
Už se to tu jednou probíralo.
V souladu se zákonem pouze kdyby štval zvěř, nebo ji strhnul a byl evidentně mimo kontrolu člověka . Návíc střílet na psa smí pouze mysliveká stráž nebo hospodář sdružení obyčejný myslivec nesmí . A jsou s tím takové problémy že se tomu každý vyhne . Navíc toho jejich Seznama by nikdo netřelil ten moc paseky nenadělá mají-li jej neustále v dohledu .
