I've watched this video 100 times, and still get emotional. It's a tearjerker.
Same with me, I only just noticed that the man who married them is the coach who was the only adult who supported him
the first verse is from the perspective of someone calling the hotline, the second verse with Logic and Alessia is from the perspective of the Crisis Operator on the line saying 'I want you to be alive' and then the final verse says 'I finally wanna be alive.'
When this first came out, the hotline saw a spike of 50% of calls following Logic's performance of the song at the 2K17 VMAs, where he performed the song with a group of either survivors of suicide or fam members of people who committed suicide all wearing white shirts with the # printed on them
The way the vid ended makes me think that this was a flashback to when he was a teen and was just discovering that he might be gay and kinda reliving how that felt, being ostracized by by his peers and fam. Part of being a teen is discovering who you are and accepting yourself for who you are. And then at the end, it goes back to present-day, with him getting married and his dad is there and he's finally accepted his son for who he is
Mental health has always been a taboo subject. That's why there needs to be more discussion about it. To get rid of the stigma. And that's why things like this song are a great step. When Logic first put this song out, during interviews, he's said that he wanted to portray the main character of the vid as someone who faces some of the same struggles that people today face. That's why he made him a gay, AA male. Bc the LGBTQIA+ community has been facing a lot of criticism and also AA have also been the target of oppression

Logic is a genius... Rap doesn't just have to be a caricature ... the basics of rap is social commentary .... and Logic doesn't hesitate to talk about issues that are often tabooed.. Big Kisses to you beautiful Woman from France.
Whenever I watch the music video, I bawl my eyes out. The whole song represents how i live my life. I don't get into it much on the internet so all i will say, I attempted to give up on life and the results made my family very emotional. Alessia's verse breaks me though.

I just really felt for the guy in the video because I know this kind of thing happens in real life...this is reality for some people & it makes me sad that they are rejected, just because of who they are attracted to or who they love. We should all try & walk in someone else's shoes & imagine how we'd feel if it was us going through a hard time. I try to do that in any situation or hearing about anyone's story. You never know what someone is going through so we should be kind. ❤️ I'm with you & I really do care.

This is the first time I came across your reaction to this video. Thank you for understanding and saying you want to keep everyone safe. Thank you because I struggle with depression and I have reached out to the crisis line because I needed help. I had tried to commit suicide because life was too hard but listening to you made me at easy.

I’m straight but I find the gay community very great for the world I know people disagree but it’s not about genders or anything else. It’s about love and happiness and dammit if your happy with the same gender so be it I support my cousins and my family all the time. As long as someone is smiling and living there best life count me in. I’m in college and I see these type of relationships and all I can do is smile makes me happy the point of living is to love and if someone is out there and can’t come out be yourself and stay true to who you are and what you want. ❤️❤️ May be a stranger but I’m always here to talk and listen I’m very good at it.
Totally agree 👍 Love is love regardless of which gender it's with. ❤ So sad that even in this day & age, some still have an issue with it & it forces others into this type of decision...like they feel like they have no way out. I get that it may be a shock to friends, family members & parents, but I believe that if that person is happy, that's all that should matter. If either of my children came out to me, I would not feel differently towards them or treat them any differently. I would applaud & respect them for their bravery & courage to be who they are. 🙏

I have unfortunately felt this way since age 12.. im now 30.. on lots of meds and still feeling like this everyday but im trying my hardest to fight it and hell, ive made it this long so far. Maybe theres hope for me.
This reaction absolutely warmed my heart, the kid in the video was me about 15 years ago and I wish I would've had a kind soul like yourself in my life at that time. This was absolutely lovely. If this is a topic you'd like to explore further Heaven by Troye Sivan is a song about coming out in a religious upbrining that hits spot on. Shane Koyzcan has a spoken word piece called To This Day here on CZcams. It might not sound interesting, I know, but I would recommend anyone that has ever dealt with bullying, addiction or mental health issues to go watch that video because it is so incredibly powerful.

On a serious note, I'm sorry you had to go through such a hard time like this. It shouldn't be that way for people. Love is love & it shouldn't matter who you want to be with or who you're attracted to. I do not know what this is like but I really felt it because I know people go through this just because of who they are & they can't change it. And they shouldn't have to. As far as I'm concerned, you are not hurting anyone or affecting someone else's life & you should have the right to be happy. I hope you are in a better place now & you have more understanding, love & positivity around you now. ❤️🙏🏻
This is a mum reaction... but for this video in particular it’s the reaction that was most needed! With having a gay brother I understand so much about this situation and it just shouldn’t be going on in the world that we live in. If you have never had to call this number I’m so happy for you !!! But if you have!! Tht means your strong and know you needed help!! I remember calling and getting mad when the police showed up at my house !! But i got the help when i needed it and my boys still have a mom because of it!!!

Many people live this reality every day so I feel that it is important to address it & bring awareness to how people struggle. Unfortunately, I came out as gay in 2005 I was 11 and neither of my parents agreed with it, they were both abusive alcoholics. I spent many years living with friends, and staying at their houses because i couldn't be at home. I lost 3 friends to this between 2006-2009 and lost another friend last year to suicide, i honestly don't know how I'm still here.. I survived two suicide attempts as a teenager. As a 26 year old adult now, who is studying for a masters in forensic science, one of my adopted children is transgender, and two are bi-sexual. I cant comprehend how someone can treat their children so badly based on their sexual preference, i wouldn't love my children any less, we were lucky our children felt they could tell us about it. I wish there were more mothers like you in the world, so many more of us would of made it through the first years of LGBTQ becoming a gradual existence in society. There's nothing a child wants more than their mothers acceptance, I really wish there was more people like you in this world, so many young teenagers would of survived and many of my friends would still be here today.

And I really do believe it's important to raise kids to accept and respect others' choices for their partners. As long as that person makes someone happy, it doesn't matter what gender they are or how they 'label' themselves. That's how I will raise mine. I want them to surround themselves with good genuine people who are loving, fair-minded, caring and open-minded about everything, whether it be sexuality, religion or colour.
