- A thorough explanation of HUE, Brightness and Saturation. How to use it in photo editing as well as in computer programming. There are a couple of color wheels that exist and using the correct one will make you better understand HUE.
HUE really is one of the key ingredients in understanding color fully. It's the foundation onto which all the rest of color theory is built.

Sumit Mandlik Thank you for the compliment. It must be CZcams's algorithm. I hear that everyone blames it on the algorithm lately 😊 .

Excellent video!! Very well explained. And the best part is that it does not contain any annoying, over excited online talk. music, expressions and "sharing" that is so common of the videos now-a-days. Great job Steve.
Thank you sir, this was amazing and deserves more views! I just started using DaVinci Resolve for photo and video editing and I had basically no clue what all those things meant.
Steve.. u were too good.. "spot" on.. ur colour wheel will make understanding this terminology much easier.. thks so much, Vernon Alvares, Mumbai, India
This was really great. I am colourblind and have difficulties seeing differences with many colors. However your straight forward explanation helps a lot how all things work together as originally for me I always thought that any change to HUE or SATURATION creates a new color.

Very good explanation Thanks a lot
Great video. Many thanks
Thank you so much for this video! I remember being conflicted in school growing up, 'cause we were taught the standard RYB model that could be mixed and painted, and there is obviously no mixing red and green paint to make yellow, but I always felt that blue-green/turquoise/cyan was red's true contrast and so on. It seems to me that each color wheel has its uses, and there's no point in feeling limited to just one.
You are so welcome!
You can checkout my video about RGB and CMYK. That would explain more about the additive model (using light) and the subtractive model (using paint). czcams.com/video/dlhjgO77DpY/video.html

Great video !
One of the best vedio.
Excellent video Steve! Very good explanation clearing up the difference between HSL and HSB, and what they are.
What I'm having difficult when trying to color correct is, how do I actually adjust each?The reason I find it confusing is this;
As you travel from one hue to another, the colour changes.
As you change the saturation at each hue value, the colour ALSO changes.
And the likewise as you change the brightness, the colour ALSO changes.
So what do I actually change first, since each change causes a shift to another colour? Is there a systematic method people do it?
Thanks!
Excellent , Thank You , quick understanding of colour. Sounds like a South African Accent !
Excellent - Thanks
