This car still looks amazing over a decade since it was new.
As always you’ve transformed it Matt, it now certainly doesn’t look 11 years old, I hope it turns a profit for you ❤.
Its either becuase the mercedes designers are to lazy or to good
My father worked for over 40 years as a motor mechanic and always said that cleaner cars were treated better than those that came in looking like a bomb site ... So yeah I agree clean first then take it to the mechanic
Cleanliness is next to Godliness they say and people appreciate that.
Was very interested in this vid as I have exactly the same car, C250, same colour, same wheels, pano roof etc, 2011 with 65k on the clock. Had it for 8 years, best car I’ve ever owned, 37mpg everyday driving, 55mpg on a run, loads of torque. Surprisingly practical if you don’t have kids, plenty of boot space with the seats down.
Cure the sunroof squeak by tilting the roof, get a sponge and spray with silicone lube, then soak the rubber seal under the glass using the sponge. The seal dries over time and sounds like polystyrene!
I also have scuffed wheels, they are positioned very close to the nose so scuffing is a fact of life.
Lovely car though, I’ll keep mine for as long as i can until it starts causing issues. So far it’s just been general wear and tear.
I normally buy from main dealers . But I'd gladly buy a car from you your honesty shines through .
You're selling yourself short Matt, I reckon your total spend was £680.59 not £880 so you made more profit than you thought.
That said I like the way you never cut corners and always try to do the best for prospective buyers. I know I would gladly buy a used car from you anytime.
Lol and he hasn't calculated in his you tube profits either.
he never fixed the corroded brake pipes though did he? :(
Had a 2012 C250 Coupe. Loved it.
I was a passenger in a friend's E Coupe and went to have a look the following week at the dealer.
Heart beat head and I bought the C Coupe same day on a good deal. Well that's what my heart told my head.
The front styling sets it off nicely - understatedly aggressive.
Always used its 200+ horses when called/needed and not thirsty, would expect 55+ on a motorway journey.
The panoramic glass roof was a good option to help stop the rear feeling like a hermitage.
Mine was the premium spec so had the heated fake leather seats and the intelligent lights that follow the steering in a Citroen DS fashion.
Yours should sell quickly and give the next owner a nice gentleman's cruiser.
Re: No one does this! With reference to spending money on a car before selling it. I do! Like you Matt I like to keep all my cars (currently all 4 of them) in pristine condition. If I were ever to take a car to an MOT and get an advisory, I would consider that a personal insult. And I’ve never had.
Mind you, when I’ve found that perfect car, the one that I would trade in one of my 10+ cars for, the car trader just looks up the price in whichever guide, then offers my that price. No consideration of service history, condition, cleanliness. I may have just as well not bothered. That’s why I currently have 4 cars. Soon to have 5 as I don’t trust the trader to vet the potential buyer to ensure they are worthy of the pristine example.
More often than not, I’ll buy a car, then start spending money on it to get it to the best it can be stage.
I’m lucky because I can afford to do so. But I think about cars like that advertisement “a cars not just for Christmas” it so much more than that.
Great outcome Matt. The service and maintenance history suggest its been well cared for and a sound purchase for the ascertained buyer 👍
Great review, love the Mercedes body lines. Did really well at the mechanic's especially for all the MOT advisories 😊
Your videos are excellent. I particularly like the fact that you are saving modern classics! Getting things done properly and using top quality parts is definitely the way to go. Been using an independent mercedes specialist for the last few years and the difference is noticeable. Keep up the good work.
Friday became instantly better! 🤩 Appreciate the video!
Love the, love the design and the W204 in general especially the AMG and Facelifts, best 1st car to buy!
Great video and buy as always Matt, those Mercs run forever! :D
Always had a soft spot for the Mercedes Coupe. A friend of mine had the 1st 300ce 24 in the UK back in 1990 and it was love at first sight.
One of my bucket list cars ( a convertible one would be primo )
Excellent presentation as always, Matt. Love the C class coupe... Great colour too. Same colour as my E class. The leather in mine is real leather by the way. It's Italian Napa. Nice repair of the " leather " by your upholstery guy 👍🏻
Love a coupe. As a tall salad dodger, they are great to get in and out of and give loads of legroom.
That is a very nice car. Great video Matt.
I’m sorry but what does ”salad dodger” mean? English is not my first language.
It means a fat person.someone who doesn't eat salad. 😁
@@MP-FinHe’s fat.
Matt, great to see you re Mot’d the car so there was no long list of advisories. Did you get the brake pipes replaced as you did not mention this in the mechanics bill?
I'm always amazed at how you don't sound bored to tears doing the Car Vertical plug. Keeping those acting skills sharp just in case 😊
Crikey Matt you are definitely coming up in the world with regards to luxury motoring!
Awesome video. Have a nice weekend, Matt🥰
I was looking at these on the web, I’ve always liked them and you’ve put out a video. it’s a sign… anyways I think you’re right with the first job being getting it cleaned, it’s much nicer to work on a car that is clean, first thing I always do when I bring home a shitter to do up and sell on.
Coupe version of these is quite timeless. The C63 version is legendary..
Looks great mate , a nice drama free video for a change.
I hope you’ve massively overspent on this.. 😂
I hope the headlghts need a good buffing😂
He probs has knowing matt eh matt ;) :)
Don't forget new number plates !!
I have a 350 version. Love it.
They instantly lift a car
If this were June next year I’d heavily consider having this, sadly not quite the right time yet. Love these even despite their flaws.
Great work done by your team
Best Wishes Always for You & Your Team
💐💐💐💐💐💐
I have a 62 reg C180 Coupe on 85k miles. Full service history and loads of receipts, Selling it after Xmas as need something more practical but I love the car.
Great turnaround and in between keeping another customer happy proper job ❤
quality video like always
Lovely looking cars. It sounded nice as it purred away at idle too.
Hi Matt, really nice cars. I used to own a clk 320 , it was very quick 3.2 litre v6 😊 enjoy the Mercedes 😊
i just picked up 2011 c class saloon as am upgrade from my a class... what a difference in driving... c class just feels some much nicer to drive....
that coupe does look good though
A good sample for someone if you like the coupe version.
I prefer the estate and an E class one, the interiors as you mentioned
on the C class doesn't wear well and looks a bit cheap.
At least you should make a decent profit on this one for a change.
one of my fav C coupes of all time! to this day
IIRC, MB put a gearbox service at 40k / 4years into the service schedule for cars with the 7G tronic unit. Also get the pan roof lubricated - that was at 40k / yrs as well.
The 5-speed auto also has regular fluid change.
I almost bought a two year old one (1.8 petrol) for £18k back in 2016. Nice colour and low mileage but I didn't like the dealer's attitude and so I ended up buying an Astra GTC with even less mileage for just £7k. It still keeps my backside 6 inches off the floor to this day and I kept £11k in the bank.
The Astra over six years on hasn't depreciated much but the Mercedes would have tanked.
Incredible isn’t it how you could buy a 2 year old anything for £7k back in 2016
September 2016 I bought a 2014 reg Mercedes C220 2.1 CDI Blue Efficiency Diesel with about 54k on the clock, paid £14,000 odd for it, was driven down to my address (SE London) from Newcastle. Had it for around 18-19 months before there were DPF regen issues and a leaky boost hose which kept causing the car to go into limp mode. Took it to Mercedes in Caterham and they charged £30 to diagnose it, ended up quoting me £110 (for a part I could buy for £55) and 2 hours labour at £220/hour, for a total of £550.
I ended up getting the car fixed at my home address by a dad's mate who has his own mobile mechanic business and he spent probably a good two hours working on it and did it for a bargain price of £80, plus me providing the part at a cost of £55.
Once it was repaired, for less than £150 when I was quoted £550, I part-exchanged it against a 2017 ford focus st-2 which was 16 months old with 5k on the clock. I got £8,000 for my Mercedes and at the time it had around 87/88k on it.
Early 2022 my Focus' engine literally blew up whilst on a dual carriageway, apparently a known fault with the ecoboost engines whereby a pipe that goes behind the engine can in some cases suddenly and very rapidly overheat causing a pressure build up and it bursts. Ended up selling that car for parts to co-part for £4k and now have a 3 litre BMW 335D X Drive.
@@thefiestaguy8831 how is the 335d xdrive?
yeah hows the x-drive?@@ahyaan2552
Why would the Mercedes tank? I have a C250 coupe (same colour) petrol and it’s kept its value
i have that estate amg sport version since nearly new now140k miles up , used as my daily commute for 82miles round trip and i get 50- 55mpg. it has been one of the most reliable cars that i have ever owned
Another very good video. Has aged well this model. I personally would tint the back windows on any coupe. Especially this one in silver. Really sets if off for me.
Well done Matt.....great coverage of how you turned this car round and good insight to costs....I live in Dublin and the costs you spent on this lovely Merc c coupe would be more than double.....I like your relaxed approach, reminds me of another UK reviewer of boats....Aquaholic....Nick Burnham.... looking forward to making another visit to the UK.
nice result Matt I've had one myself great car and looks as you said 👍👍
Hi Matt great informative video as ever noticed your garage in the back ground on the first drive.
Always quite fancied one of these. Very handsome car, and it's aging very nicely indeed. Future classic?
The W204 C-class is peak Mercedes design and quality. I have a C350 4matic and absolutely love it!
Lovely purchase Matt, well done
I'm with you. Autumn and winter are miserable. Nice car.
Got one as well, 97k miles and it has been faultless during two years of ownership. I will be sad to see it go soon..
I like this guy, he has a nice way about him, and a wealth of knowledge. I could do with bumping into a builder version of him.
what a nice ride. I have a C280. Would have gone for full 'leather' seats. Love the sunroof and good job putting on new plates!
I got the 2012 220CDI version... bought it in February -23 with 120k km. I think the pano glas roof is stock option on the coupe... also the sport suspension
It behaved terribly with the cheap tires that came with it... the rear was all over the place, especially when cornering...
Premium car needs premium tires!... that's my experience of driving different MB's for 37 years.. installed a new set of Goodyear Eagle asymmetric 6... a completely better handling car...
Went on a roadtrip to Germany this summer and it did 220km/h without feeling out of power.. or the steering feeling "wobbly"
Love it! 😍
I agree Matt - Autumn and Winter can just get in the sea - which is where I prefer to be in Spring and Summer lol
I had two of these the exact same model the second one was to replace the first after a drunk driver ploughed into at speed causing my car to role three times coming to rest back on its wheels. I was able to get out and stand up for a short while before collapsing the build and safety features saved my life that day. Great cars amongst the best I've ever owned the engine was fairly powerful if a little agricultural they still look great and are reasonable to run.
Good car good video Matt👍
Good car. Great video as always Matt 👌👏
Cracking car, I had the C220 CDI coupe on an 11 plate with 107k on the clock. Drove superbly well. Traded it for the newer C300 coupe which is light years ahead in the cabin but I still think the W204 is the better looking car imo.
I think that was the best video so far. Not the car but just the whole production. Seemed better than usual 🤔
gummi pflege! gummi pflege is what you need Matt. Put it on the window runners/rubber. It is great for coupes where the window drops when you open the doors. Stops it freezing in winter, so you can actually get in the car. 😂 Helps with soften the dried out rubber seals and makes them look a little better.
You probably know that though. I am not a dealer but had enough cars to know. 😅
Do you remember how the Spanish rev the cars at the ITV stations while waiting to go in? Drives me INSANE!
They are such an iconic design inside & out. They look exquisite inside 👏👍
Once again another entertaining watch
Gotta hand it to you. Matt thank you sir. This is what I just was hoping for. Looking to get this car. In a amg and diesel variant. Should be a good ownership
I had the same wheelcaps, and went to the black with silver logo, really lifted the wheels with new tyres
Nice looking car for sure. Not the keenest on the wheel refurb though, the barrels look really rough where they're just doing the faces. I work for a wheel refurber down south, for another £100 we fully strip and powder coat. Really does make a massive difference having clean barrels, I think so many people run round with them caked in brake dust they forget what an impact it makes having them also clean!
Another great video and what a lovely car.
Looks great and it's definitely different from the run of the mill cars on the road.
It'll be fine and I'm sure it will sell
I love when Matt gets a Mercedes. Nice job
Nice one, as usual. Lovely car 👍
Agree that the C class coupe is a nice and quite understated looking car. You seemed to get lucky with this one and didn't have to "massively overspend" for once! It is a bit strange that a car that has been so well maintined would be fitted with such cheap tyres. Looked really smart after its valet etc and hopefully should not be on your forecourt too long.
Good looking car that for something 11 years old. The shape has aged really well.
Love the video's. What a cracking motor.
Hi Matt ! If you could pop the bonnet and let us see the engines running it would be greatly appreciated. A lot of those engines never made it stateside. Cheers !
This engine is absolutely bulletproof. They were used in the Mercedes Sprinter van as well but these ones are twin turbo. 204hp and about 300lb/ft torque. Surprisingly quick and 54mpg Uk gallons on a run.
Thanks for the video and wishing you well with the sale. That wheel refurb seems great value to me - I wish there was a firm around here offering that value and service. The centre badges were replaced (and they needed to be) so that was another fiver? 😉
The center badges alone will cost you $25 - $35 each or more. Do they have a branch here in the US?
I recently visited Italy, France and Spain for the first time. I saw firsthand many of the cars you sell at your dealership. My wife admonished me several times for looking at the cars instead of the beautiful architecture! I said, “I know hon, but these are the cars that Matt constantly criticizes but then massively over spends on to make a few quid which I think are euros.” Oh how I now really can relate to your channel.
Onward and upward Matt!
@@cindybetten7573genuine ones unlikely cost that. Non genuine set off eBay likely £10 - won't last as long but will look good for a year or twom
As ever, another enjoyable video (thank you!) Apologies if I missed it, but did that long list of advisories also get sorted? I’m sure they must have done but just didn’t hear Matt mention it again. Please keep the shows flowing, always something I look forward to 😊.
Thats what i was thinking. They've disappeared from latest mot but no mention of any work being done beyond service and wheels.
@@redmed10the rusty brake pipes?
Given that Matt is consistently so thorough and careful in all he does I am sure he did have the work done and maybe it simply wasn’t mentioned in his summary on this occasion. Matt - your attention to detail and integrity are truly impressive.
These are absolutely solid cars! Cracking buy!
Having watched quite a few of these videos, there's a very important part of a SH vehicle's value/condition which Matt never shows. The underbody! Matt, get a mat and get down and have a look. The new jeans will wash.😂 we would also like to see, and better still, show us when it's on the lift at the mechanics, the bits that need doing etc. especially if they are common faults.
Nevertheless, I enjoy the banter. Oh, and I wouldn't scrap half the cars you do. 😮
My son has a C250 Coupe and it's a lovely car. Looks and drives superb.
Hi Matt sounds like darth vader is living in your Range Rovers steering column lol. You should be able to clear EAS inactive message if your turn the wheel lock to lock a few times. Great outcome on the C class though!
Lovely looking cars. It sounded nice as it purred away at idle.
I've got an E250, coupe same engine, I do about 600 miles (motorway) a week and I average 44/48 mpg on average and believe you me I'm not a slow driver if I nurse it I can get over 50/51 but that rarely happens, brilliant car, now got over 170k on the clock and apart for consumables it's cost me £300 on a sensor in 60k miles I'll be getting another when this finally dies in the next ten years!
I have that exact car, mine is 2015. Never skipped a beat, I've never even had to replace a bulb. It is a whole lot of car, for not a whole lot of money.
That’s a nice looking motor 👌
Mad watching these vids most pics took where me and my missus go for a drive out have some tea in that same spot off glossop rd lol great videos we live just round corner from your yard crazy That discovery video was good to watch i was goin to buy1 but defoe gave me the swerve Anyway great vids keep em
Comin mate
Nice one Matt, she looks well..😊
I see a lot of c class sedans, saloons, over here but I don't recall ever seeing a coupe, let alone a diesel.
That's a nice looking car.
Mercedes still makes a fairly reliable car and they are comfortable.
I guess they don't use that mbtex that they used to use. My 85 300d had 280k miles when I sold it and the interior was pristine. 😊
Another good video Matt 🚗🚙🚘⭐️⭐️👍👍👏👏👏
I was literally just watching your C Class coupe video from a few years ago last night.
After one for myself too, incredible timing fella.
They're great cars. Just watch out for rear subframes and brake lines
@@HighPeakAutosJust got my 2011 C class 200 CDI back from MB after having rear subframe replaced under warranty. Lovely car, had 4 years, spent quite a bit, paintwork due to lacquer peel ( Opal Red), wheels refurbished and Michelin Cross Climates all round, looked after by a MB specialist. Unfortunately a friend had to bring it back for me and I just SORN'd it yesterday as Doctor told me not to drive until had MRI and got an issue sorted. Much too nice to let go to a dealer if long term, would rather give it to a friend than be ripped off.
I had the same model for s few years and absolutely loved it. Never had a problem with it. Stupidly, I chopped it in for an SLK250, which, in 12 months of ownership, I had five DPF problems. I should never have swapped it, but hindsight is a wonderful thing isn't it.
I agree with you, Matt, about having decent tyres on it. Mine had budget ones on when I got it and it would easily fishtail in the wet, if I wasn't careful. A set of Dunlop Sportsmax cured that. Keep up the good work Matt.
Why on earth would someone buy a roadster with a diesel engine? 😕
@@zsb707 I sometimes wonder myself!!! 🤦♂️
@@zsb707 Audi TT comes to mind 🤔🤔 BUT THEY DO
@@Theoriginalbigbrillo I really like roadsters, have driven many (S2000, Z4, MX-5, SLK, Z3, MR2) and have owned one (MX-5) for 10 years, but a diesel engine, no matter how smooth it is, shouldn't have made it in a roadster.
Mine is a 2014 c204 c250 cgi bought new with 31k on it now and looks like it came straight from the showroom floor, had to put 4 new Michelins on it this year as the factory Continentals had dried out and were cracking, never seen road salt or a drive through car wash, hope yo keep it for some years to come.
Fair play , I think a good clean before you give your mechanic a car definitely helps the end product, also it shows a bit of respect for the mechanic...
Got yourself a cracking little car there very well looked after
I love the 250cdi. You never mention that the 250 actually has twin turbos 😊
All om951 are twin turbo even in the sprinter
These c classes all look much better than I remember 👏🏻
You talked about a previous owner cheaping out on Chinese tyres, but then you only change the front tyres on a rear wheel drive 'sports coupe' leaving the Landsail tyres on the rears?
Reputation is everything , and yours is probably one of the best in the northwest. You need to change your company name to " Honest Johns Autos" seriously, well done yet again on giving a new lease of life to a car that deserves it.👏
Does anyone do a product that gets rid of the “shiny” and often sticky leather steering wheels? It’s often the thing that for me let’s older cars down… Great content as always and keeps us all coming back for more and those subscriptions growing every week!
“I have a fault in my suspension”…….”don’t ask” 😂😂
Your vehicle's interior is more luxurious than 90% of homes I've visited.
Hi Matt, I really appreciate your entertaining video's. I know that you really like JLR products but I have been watching the latest 'Geoff buys Cars' and the problems that customers are having with the Inchcape Derby flooding situation. A lot of the comments, indeed most of them are centering on the every day problems that people are having with their JLR vehicles. Would you / could you do a review on a late model Jeep Grand Cherokee, owners reviews rave about them, a more reliable choice than a Range Rover ?
Sounds to me like you're considering jumping out of the frying pan into the fire. JLR comes into a lot of criticism because their cars are so prestigious and so costly to buy in the first place, and rightly so. But as a used buyer, you're getting the advantage of huge depreciation as a result, and most problems are resolved during the warranty period. Costs of parts and repairs are a bit more expensive, but that's in keeping with their original pricing. The overall quality and luxury, driving and ownership experience of a Range Rover compared to a Jeep Grand Cherokee is positively incomparable, IMO. My advice, for what little it's worth, is to just get yourself an extended factory warranty with your late model RR and enjoy. And I'm almost certain that's the advice Matt would give you, too. Alternatively, if you just want a large SUV and don't care about prestige and ultimate luxury, why not just consider something like a late model Kia Sorento?
It's way better looking than the model that replaced it.
Currently in a '21 coupe CLA and it's just not pretty like this model.
If they’ve cheaped out on the tyres makes you wonder what else they might have cheaped out on?😮
I dunno. It's a relatively low-powered diesel. It's more of a show car than a go car. I'm not sure I'd put premium tyres on such a used car, especially if I were the kind of person who didn't shop around. As I am the kind of person to shop around, I'm pretty sure I could find budget premium-branded tyres for not significantly more, but many people just ask the garage to put on a cheap set or pair of new tyres. And here, you can see that the front got the cheap brand first and later the rear just got the same. The service history strongly suggests they didn't cheap out on anything else.
@@nigel.wcompletely agree. It would have been nice to put brand new continentals or whatnot on all four corners but that’s really an expense for the next owner - although Matt was thinking about it in the initial appraisal he clearly came to his senses. He also took a cheaper route on the wheel refurb in the end and use the mobile guy instead of Prestige.
@@stevena9305 It gets to me a little sometimes when Matt doesn't actually do what he said he was going to, but I generally understand, as I do here. The only thing I would have done differently is moved the rears to the front and put the new tyres on the back. It is after all a RWD car with good torque and decent power. The mobile wheel refurb looks just fine to me.
landsail tyres get great reviews. i have replaced avon's on the front with landsails and they are every bit as good
He never mentioned sorting out the advisory items he planned to have done, such as the corroded pipes.
You should add cleaning the steering wheels into your prep work - shaves so many years off the car if the wheel isn't gloss and first thing I always notice. But maybe thats just my strangeness 🤣
great video matt!
You really should run with a merc just looks more cool if I had I wouldnt mind awesome matt keep them cheap cars coming
