  • After 35 years of hard work the jack on our pony hauler started to bind and fuss when we needed to hook up to the truck. The easiest way to get things back to normal was to remove the old jack and install a new one. So join me on the once in a lifetime opportunity as we keep a monstrous steel horse transporter on the road with a little cutting and welding.

Thank you so much! The jack was binding up on our 1987 Travalong gooseneck stock trailer as well many years ago. I was too afraid to weld a new one on, because the welds are actually on the outside piece of the jack tube, so I was afraid of accidentally going through the outside tube and welding it to the inside part of the jack that slides. Now I know to just tack weld and let it cool each time. My Grandpa ended up just hiring the trailer dealership to weld a new jack on for us.

What brand of jack did you install? Great job!

The jack is a bulldog brand. They are on the self at tractor supply.

Did you grind off the paint from the new jack to ensure solid contact with the steel?
