- I am starting the 2023 gardening season the right way, I have been thinking about making this video about my youtube channel for my small gardening channel in the hopes that it helps someone out there on the fence about their own starting OR keeping up with their own channels.
I am sharing my journey in CZcams, my begginings, my numbers, how long it took me to get monetized, $$$$ reports, video gear and I am answering a few questions from you guys as well.

I’m a long time farmer/gardener with no desire to do a CZcams channel. I just want to tell you how much I enjoy your videos. They’re real and in a zone that most people can relate to. Every thing you do can easily be done by normal people. It’s so great! I watch another channel where the woman has paid help and thinks nothing of spending 5 thousand dollars on potting soil. And while it’s fun to watch…it will never be me. So thank you for being so real. Your garden is gorgeous.

I stopped watching that other channel on the delivery of the greenhouse that looks like a little vacation home. It's off putting when a gardener thinks nothing of planting "a drift ' of plants that probably would cost you or I $600++ (because we have to pay retail) or dropping $3000 to buy some trees. It's no fun to watch anymore when you're not learning about gardening and instead watching an unachievable continuous promotion for things I choose not to afford on a plot of land bigger than 1/2 my neighborhood. Talk about jumping the shark!
Roxana has been my favorite gardener for a long time, introducing me to new techniques and aesthetics that I can literally duplicate in my own home garden (like nurturing plants from a clearance rack at the garden shop!) Love her garden and her vibe. She's a great teacher with a great sense of humor too. I share your love of this channel, Darlene.

Well holy smokes! Now I can't believe I found THIS video of yours Roxana, after just discovering your channel yesterday! Thank you so much for being so generous with your time to do this video and your sharing of your CZcams experiences. I'm a senior lady and relocated to the snowy UP of MI 4 yrs ago ... my downstate MI garden was easier to handle, but now I'm faced with all kinds of new gardening challenges. I have wanted to do something online with this garden, but I hesitate. I'm terribly un-photogenic, and I know next to nothing about how to make a video. But your words of wisdom here will now be ringing in my head ... not sure where to start, but perhaps I will give it a go! You and I are so sympatico ... I love to garden and am seeding like crazy as we speak ... I love learning the best ways to care for my large collection of houseplants ... and I discovered microgreens not long ago and am loving growing those! Thank you for all you do, and happy gardening!

Hello Roxanne, I started CZcams in June of 2022. I am very grateful form my 830 subscribers. I started out on my journey because I felt like God would not let me sleep or get rest in my soul until I started this journey. Everything I dreamt about it read about was pushing me towards documenting what I do in my garden. So first I dove into it with feeling very uncomfortable in front of a camera. Learning everything I needed to post and share a video from bits and pieces from other CZcamsrs. And secondly I can give my kids a legacy of my gardening. I do work full time doing ultrasound. I rely on this for paying bills and buying my plants. Lol. But now that I have been doing this for 6 months. I really dream that I can make a good part time job out of this. Congrats on your 20k subscribers. I feel if we are consistent with posting we all will achieve our goals.

Your video moved me to tears. My teenage sons and I are starting a CZcams gardening channel for exactly this reason. As my father is aging it has me thinking about how to let my garden live beyond my years on Earth.
I actually sell plants and seedlings in my local area and I'm constantly asked by customers how to take care of this or what I recommend to do for that and also wanted to start making the videos for my local customers to help with their gardening journey.

. I really enjoy your channel because you are so down to earth and obviously love plants and diversity. This can't be said for everyone, and as soon as I'm tired of a utuber's easy come easy go attitude towards plants, I simply don't watch anymore. You have the size garden that most of us have etc etc. I kind of watched today's video out of curiosity, but I'm not a utuber, just a retired teacher and a gardener, and if you earn a little money for all your effort, then good for you. Hello I'm trying to get back at starting my indoor hydroponic vegetable gardening channel, but it has been a struggle for me. I started over a year ago with my channel, but became discouraged and battling with depression and PTSD it's still a struggle. I hope to get back into the game and stay committed for the long run. This is a great video and super encouraging! I gave up on getting monetized and definitely got that feeling of "no one's watching this" and it got to a point where it didn't feel good or fun anymore. It's nice to see how much fun you have in your garden, and I'm excited to get back to that feeling.

This is the first video of yours that I have watched. I have a CZcams channel also to document my garden. After posting my first video, it took me 7 months to post a second. Now I have 5 up with 22 subscribers. I’m struggling with the editing but want to figure it all out. I hope to earn some money one day but I realize it takes time and consistent effort.

I am relaunching my youtube page in July. It will be urban agriculture and lifestyle. I have been pulled by how to niche down but be authentic to the fullness of skills and personality. Your video clarified and reframed a things for me.
I really appreciate the time you took to explain how things work on YT. I am not interested in starting a channel but was curious. It's hard to believe the highest amount of $$ someone made from YT last year was $400M - more than $1M/day. SMH.
I find the YTrs that are more authentic, those that are not posting controversy, and those not in it for the $$ are the best to follow IMHO. I think it makes a difference.
I enjoy your content from seed starting to harvesting, from flower arranging to rebuilding your raised bed area and in between. I also love your photography and music selection.

Congrats on your success, I just discovered your channel. I'm doing the same too. Leaving a legacy for my children to hopefully continue. Gardening is a relaxing interest for me and my husband. We hope our channel will grow as we would like more people to discover our gardening in zone 11/12 in Hawaii. We just started in October of 2022, so we still have a lot of learning and growing.

I’ve thought about having a channel and my children want me to. I don’t really want to be on camera but I love helping people with gardening and such. I love watching your videos because you are in the same zone as me ( I’m up near Purdue University).
You can try starting with face-less videos, a lot of people do those only. I was horrible about this, to the point that I would film a video 2-3 times and ended up not posting it because I hated the way I said or did something, it gets easier as you do it!
I am here with no intentions of starting a CZcams channel heavens no!!! I am here because I have so much free time on my hands and nothing to do with it. I had a Victorian English garden for quite a few years but it was very simple I had a beautiful arch and when hurricane Ian came a rolling through it destroyed much. So I wanted to find a way to do some thing with my hands that would be more rewarding more satisfying more challenging and I think you have taught me so much and have inspired me so much that in just a few weeks I have started a Garden with vegetables and flowers. Nothing is in bloom yet but I can’t wait for that to happen!!!

As a viewer I would like to say I actually stop watching a video or go as far as unsubscribing if a CZcamsr talks endlessly and just stretches the time.
Here you are just talking about the time you invest into CZcams … i follow you on Instagram for years and I think I recall that you had already many people following your journey there. That’s all time you invest.
One part I would have liked to see covered is the sponsoring part. When Proven winners sponsored I would imagine that helped jump your channels growth, gives a reason to make new content and it’s nice to get some free goodies. It not it anything else it’s a compliment that you got recognized.

I have been thinking about opening a channel yet I am hesitant because of all the work in posting, and editing.

Hi Roxana, I was happy to discover and subscribe to your channel back in 2021, but this is my first comment. Social media can give me a bit of anxiety so I prefer to be a quiet subscriber most of the time :) That said, had I known about your negative comments (so sorry that you have to deal with that), I would have left a comment much earlier. Your channel has a beautiful aesthetic - lovely framing, views, depth of field, music - and you have a really comfy and approachable, friendly and fun demeanour. It keeps me coming back to enjoy and be inspired by your gorgeous garden. Just wanted to say thanks for this helpful and very insightful video. I am a graphic designer in Canada (zone 4-5) and I'm very lucky to have a garden space that I've been slowly working on and that has lots of room for improvement. I keep thinking I'd love to start a channel (no strategy, no schedule, no pressure) just to track my own progress and really see the changes as they unfold. Maybe I'll try this year :)
I think that documenting the journey of the garden this way is truly magical, for me anyways… I keep watching my garden tours from the summer because I miss them so much!

Hello. I have been following you on CZcams from spring 2022 , I think. I was ill and I started watching gardening on CZcams and you pop up as a recommendation. I loved the beauty and calm of your channel and subscribed. I have been thinking about starting a CZcams channel on and off for about 10 years. lol. I have finally decided to give it a try as my children are both in school now. I hope to start a gardening and home channel sometime this year. I started my channel in jan 2021. I loved watching other gardening channels and tours. But I'm in a townhouse with a small yard and laughed at the thought of posting a garden tour, I was like mine would take 5 mins.
But it made me stop and think maybe there were other people out there in a similar situation. Maybe I could inspire people with a small yard to grow a lot of good and flowers in a small space and lots of containers.
I think it took me me 16 months of hard work to hit that 1k. I was stuck in the 800's for ever hahaga
Oh goodness, there is a lady I followed and she was in the city with a very very tiny balcony, like the size of a raised bed and the way she did so many vertical growing was amazing, there are people out there that can get inspired in the same situation.
@@SoilandMargaritas YES I follow some people with just a balcony. Where there's a will there's a way.

Love this video! I have been making practice videos while I look for property to buy. My garden is currently in the living room of our temporary apartment. Hoping to share and make memories with my teens as we build up a garden/mini-homestead. I work full time and don't expect money from it for a few years, but love to see that it is possible. Especially since I am a newborn CZcamsr just trying to figure it all out 😂. Thank you!❤

Wow! 20K is fantastic! I too would like to make videos of my non existing gardens. I have 2 acres with a tiny house. This year, we built the foundation of a 15x15 gazebo and dug a 65'x90'x10' deep swimming pond. My problem is I don't have a consistent income coming in. Therefore, I cannot guarantee that the gazebo will be built this coming year. I fear people will lose interest in the lack of video content. The other thing is I don't have equipment needed for the videos and I don't really have the funds for it either. However, I do have all my plants to put in garden area. They are all sitting in my veggie garden. I have 40 roses. 12 of them are climbers. I still need to install the post for them to climb on. 2 reblooming lilac standards, 2 variegated willows standard, 1 double flowering almond tree. a larch, a purple sand cherry standard, a smoke bush, 8 different kinds of hydrangeas and quite a few evergreens. I have much more but I think the list is long enough. I don't want to make the videos for money but to see the transformation of the property as we are doing it all ourselves. I love your videos. they are calming and makes me want to garden more. I suffered from iron deficiency and therefore I always have low energy. Thank you for sharing. You give me hope.
