  • Peace family, I couldn’t even WAIT for the follow up to my last video; i was so upset by the sound quality. Namely that loud HISS that was coming through on my recording. I sat up all day exploring my devices, and i figured out some interesting things!
Allow me to share my findings with you in this quick 3 minute video.
If you have a good Lav mic to recommend, or post editing program to suggest, i would definitely appreciate it!

Tried to record an audio, no turn on receiver with iPhone (Rode original 3.5mm to 3.5mm TRRS). Dunno why the sound clip is heavy hissing sound....

Peace. Im going to be honest man i think it was a software issue. It can be fixed in post production for sure, but since Rode put out their last two firmware updates i haven’t had any hissing/feedback and i literally didn’t do anything else.

Thank you thank you thank you thank youuuuuuuuuu!!! Seriously, you are the only person I have found online who solved this issue for me. For me the fix was turning off the "record stereo sound" on my iphone. Have a good day :-)

Great video! Did you connect the mic system via USB-C by any chance? Or were you using the 3.5mm analog cable? Asking because the gain control doesn’t seem to work when connected via USB-C to my iPhone. Interesting!

Appreciated! I use the 3.5mm TRS to TRRS cable (sold separately) and the 3.5mm to lightning adapter that came with one of my earlier model iPhones. Im not familiar with any iPhone that has a USB-C port. Interesting indeed!
Does the gain control work with your camera or any other device? Rode seems to be pretty good with customer support; reach out!
