  • What is the difference between the UMX P-51 and Micro 450mm P-51? What is UMX? Will the Micro P-51 bind to my Spektrum Radio? Which should I buy? Confused and wondering any of those questions, then this video is for you. I compare and contrast the E-flite UMX P-51 and HobbyZone Micro 450mm P-51 to help answer those questions.

BRGT350 we talked on one of your prev videos is the micro 450mm mustang or Xcub 450mm better for a second airplane? i would also like a little bit of aerobatic capability that the xcub just doesnt have. Mainly at least a 1 to 1 thrust/weight ratio. also the cub is out of stock until at least october xD. and as you know it needs to be able to take a beating

The Micro Cub and Micro Mustang are very similar in terms of flight performance. The Cub doesn't fly as much like a Cub as it looks like it should. The Mustang also isn't as aerobatic as I would have expected, but I also didn't do much in terms of aerobatics. You could easily go from one of the Micro trainers directly into a UMX plane or larger plane as your next step. They provide a good amount of challenge without being difficult, which is good for a trainer, and also don't make it so easy that you get overly confident. I have handed both the Cub and Mustang over to pilots with little or no previous experience and both were equally successful. If you go with the Mustang, I suggest removing the gear and painting the prop tips bright yellow. Both planes fly much better with the gear off and just land in the grass. If you can master either of the Micro planes in intermediate mode, you are fully ready for a UMX model or even step up into the 1.5m Timber.

Fly both of these in a companion video please.

I can try to get that done. They are so very different that a comparison video may not have much value. The UMX P-51 flies very much like a larger P-51 and have a hundreds of flights on that airframe. I only have about 5-6 flights on the Micro P-51. The UMX P-51 fits my flying style, but that is also from years of flying and years of flying UMX Mustangs. I had the original 1S UMX P-51 and the first 2S UMX P-51, which is the same airframe as the new 2S/3S P-51 that is in the video. I also fly the UMX P-51 on my NX8 that has a lot of tuning to get the Mustang dialed in to exactly how I want it. The Micro P-51 transmitter doesn't have the ability to fine tune the controls like my NX8.

@@BRGT350 To do a proper "Apples to Apples" comparison just buy a cheap 4-in-1 Multi Protocol Radio and run both on that. You can get the bottom-of-the-pile Jumper T-lite V2 for the same price (or less!) than the TopRC re-brand. The T-lite will come up short as regards switches against your flash (and not cheap!) Spekky Radio but will match it in programmability (once you learn how) in addition to being able to fly/drive/sail almost any make of toy.

Again, a well made video. And even remains quite comprehensible when run at 2x speed! 😉😊

to do so is beyond the point of the 2 planes. They aren't intended to be compared or be similar. One is for beginners with little to no flight experience or frame of reference. The other is designed for intermediate pilots with a great deal of experience. One is designed to be a trainer, the other is far from being a trainer. You shouldn't learn on a UMX model. There is no point in doing an apples to apples flight comparison as they are intended for different pilots and different skill levels. That was the point of the video. If you are asking more complex questions that you have learned to ask from experience, then the UMX is for you. If you have never flown a plane before, then the micro is for you.

    Proprietary or... Radiomaster 😊

Radiomaster may work, but not sure.

Save your money buy the micro P-51. Probably hold up better.

the Micro P-51 is cheaper than the UMX P-51. It will hold up better to crashes, but gives up a lot of scale fidelity and flight performance. For me, the UMX P-51 is 100% the way to go, but I am also not looking for a first plane to get started. If I was just getting started, the Micro P-51 would be high on my list.
