Yes. An injury to the brain. The organ that controls the entire psyche of a person. An injury to that organ. An injury to that organ couldn't possibly affect someone's function.
A brain is a muscle and of course any injury will cause issues to anything.

As a licensed health care professional, it makes me SO angry that someone who probably took 1 psychology class is spreading so much malice and misinformation..ughhhhh
So he did work as a counselor / group coordinator at the inpatient rehab I went to a few years back, but as a health care professional, you’ll know more than I do about what is any credentials are required to get that position. I know the BHTs don’t need any type of degree, and I know the therapists that do one on one sessions and make the ‘treatment plans’ with us have full degrees and credentials. So I’m honestly not sure / don’t remember what his education was. It would be kind of messed up to charge our insurance companies the tens of thousands of dollars they did, to put us in groups led by people with no credentials, but it honestly would not be that surprising honestly. A lot of those places, as I’m sure you know, are for profit (almost exclusively) and you kind of have to just take what you can from the groups.

Addiction runs in my family (father a recovering alcoholic, mother currently an alcoholic) and taking the non addictive anxiety meds is so hard. I dont want to take things that could possibly make me addicted, but you are right, they dont work as well. So I will never shame somebody for not wanting to deal with anxiety, because even with non addictive meds, its draining and crippling at times. Hearing Chris just absolutely shitting on people who take meds and relapse is so angering to me. Not taking meds doesnt make you any better than somebody who does. Relapse is hard and such a sensitive time. You have every right to be angry!
once read something that said not to feel bad at all for taking medication for mentall illness because we’d never shame someone for doing that for a physical illness AND these medicines help to replace chemicals that neurologically “normal” people already have flowing steadily. i wish i could have put that as eloquently as the post i read, tho
I’m a recovering meth addict & alcoholic. I am prescribed Valium, 10mg a day for my anxiety. My anxiety is CRIPPLING. If I don’t have my Valium on hand if I need to leave the house or if I’m having a panic attack then I’m just totally unable to do ANYTHING. I stick to my dose, sometimes I only take 5mg a day if I’m feeling okay, sometimes I take half that even... sometimes I take the full 10. It depends on how high my anxiety levels are. I check in with my doctor regularly and make sure I’m being cautious with my meds. I’m still in recovery... it doesn’t mess with your clean time if it’s prescribed by a dr for legitimate reasons and you stick to how much is prescribed. Only you as an individual know if you’re being honest in your recovery like... I could be just saying all this about my Valium but behind closed doors I could be popping pills left right and centre. Who knows... I know and that’s enough. We should never put anyone on blast and undermine their recovery it’s gonna do more harm than good!!! No one’s ‘opinion’ should matter like the only one who knows what’s going on is the individual and nothing anyone especially not some knob on the internet says will change that... I hate people who shit on others in recovery cos they take necessary prescribed medications. Without my prescribed meds I would relapse - I know that. I take mood stabilisers for my bipolar and I NEED anti anxiety medication because my panic attacks are so bad if I don’t keep them under control I can’t function - and the way I do that INCLUDES taking medication. I see it a lot in the NA community - people shitting all over others who use subs etc to help get clean. Like bitch why are y’all mad?? If there was drug replacement therapy to help get off meth you bet I’d be on that. I’m quitting smoking rn and I’m using patches... I’m still calling myself a non-smoker but ooh whoops I guess I’m not really cos I’m still dependent on nicotine. Ugh. If it makes it easier and you’re honest with yourself in your recovery then there is absolutely no harm with using medication to help you in different areas of your life.

As someone who loves English classes, I LAUGHED SO HARD.
The brain injury things is just bonkers. I study neuroscience, which is not psychology but very closely related, and literally we use people with tbi/brain damage/stroke/lesions to study the function of brains areas BECAUSE THEIR BRAINS DON'T WORK THE SAME. Saying some one's brain doesn't function the same as other doesn't mean they cant function in society.
And on the medication thing. Yes there are addictive medications and yes you should avoid them if you possibly can but there are going to be situations where it may be unavoidable. Unless you are this person's medical doctor you shouldn't be commenting on their medication.

I'm on a lot of medication, some of which is addictive. I'm on high dose codeine, which is an opiate. I need it to control my chronic pain. Yeah, it's addictive. I'm not addicted, I don't get a high from it I just get pain relief so I can do things other than lay in bed.
Avoiding addictive medications is only worth doing if there's a proper alternative. If there isn't, then you can't really avoid it.

I think it's very important to discuss The Rewired Soul. Think of all the people who are having mental health or addiction issues, or who are just really struggling right now, so they go to youtube to find comfort and advice... and they come across The Rewired Soul. When I think of all the vulnerable people who might think he's qualified and who take his advice, it really scares me. He's going to get someone hurt or worse.

Shannon M.L when I first started watching him, it really was real life comparisons that remained appropriate. It was when he got a little traction that he really showed his true colors.
I started watching him because I thought he was a legit social worker, but after an few uploads, he turned me off because of his attitude towards his subjects.
He wasn't this insane at first. I, sadly enough, was a person who actually enjoyed his videos at the beginning. It was decent stuff. Then he let his true colors shine. I unsubbed and don't even look at his channel anymore. He has an addict, and unfortunately found social media and drama as the next thing to be addicted to.
DANIxDANGER I (hate to admit this) actually liked him at first too. I liked the videos when he looked deeper into fictional characters from tv shows and movies that I watched. Pretty much when it wasn’t real people he was picking apart lol. I just looked at his channel for the first time in nearly a year and he is off his rocker now for sure.

I actually work in a psychiatric facility. Our patients with TBI have completely different treatment plans as their counterparts with similar diagnoses (such as bipolar disorder). This is because treatments plans are NOT one size fits all, and this concept called trauma informed care is incredibly important. You cannot effectively treat someone without being fully aware of their TBI because their TBI often affects every aspect of their life.
He is someone who may have a lot of “clean time”/“sobriety” but he damn sure doesn’t have a lot of recovery. He is such a toxic person especially to the recovery community and I pray he gets some more help personally and stops spewing all the poison that comes out of his mouth. As someone who is in recovery I really hate to see people like him abusing this platform when he could be using it for so much good.

Although politically I have some serious issues with Jordan Peterson including philosophy and practices of his that deter people from progressive ideas, when I heard about him going to therapy and relapsing I felt extreme compassion because I am a human being the sympathizes with his situation and mental health. What Chris did was not only disgusting but extremely counterintuitive when discussing the nuance and complexity with medication and mental health.

I’ve commented before after being in a 12 step program for 6 years. I’m only half way thru this video and I just can’t help but think that this is such an unhealthy way to navigate your sobriety. The biggest enemy to an alcoholic or addict is EGO and this guy is nothing but EGO so that translates to me that again, he’s not in a healthy, sober, productive 12 step program and he has major EGO issues which is not the way a person in true recovery and struggling to work the steps handles their sobriety and mental health.

I honestly did like him early on. I thought he was doing something unique and not really harmful but it got to a point where he is honestly just harassing people and acts like a victim all the time all while acting like he's better than everyone.
I unsubed a long time ago 😑 hell, I damn near felt harassed myself because he was posting so fucking much.

To be honest I was a supporter and a patreon of Chris’ for almost 6 months. However, after the threatening videos he made towards drama channels (where he called Dustin Rich Ashlee etc out) I was left with a bad taste in my mouth. The quality of his content plummeted and I unsubscribed and I started seeing why people dislike him. So sad because deep down I do believe he has good intentions, I’m afraid his ego and the “fame” of youtube took over.
I agree. I think he started with good intentions then just got so sucked up in all of it. I also think ever since his "cancelling" he has just become obsessed with proving people wrong about him and it's just getting worse and worse.
My boyfriend has been sober for almost two years, and I always was weary about him taking anxiety meds but you explained it so perfectly Hannah! Thank you so much for explaining it in such a non judgmental and informative way ❤️
Who knows what Chris does behind closed doors? Who knows if he’s actually sober who knows if he isn’t using addictive medication? His entire existence seems like a huge lie and finger pointing show.

I have no horse in this race but I will say, he did work at the inpatient rehab I went to a few years back. But again, this doesn’t prove sobriety (currently, they did or said they did test their employees randomly I think). It also doesn’t prove credentials as I have no idea what they require for his position as a counselor / group coordinator. I do think he started out from a good / well meaning place. He was great at teaching us the curriculum the rehab was require to follow to be part of the network they’re in, which was informative. But it wasn’t always information he sourced.

He’s SO passive aggressive. He has not learned a thing since he was “canceled” as he likes to shove down our throats.
But even in his comment section, when he does videos on people I like, I watch so... I guess I “hate watch” but I noticed he runs off even new people to his channel when they have a simple question. He is literally his own worst enemy and is sabotaging any chance he has at redemption.

As someone who had to take addicted anxiety medication at one point, thank you for brining it up. Love your views and understanding. People seem to be more comfortable with people taking medication for anxiety but they don’t ever ever ever mention the addictive medications that at some situations taking something addictive is the better choice than not. ♡

Thank you for this video. On the addiction/substance tip - I was a drug addict, but I was self medicating. Now that I’m accurately diagnosed and on a mood stabilizer that works well for me, I can actually take a pain medication prescription as directed. AS DIRECTED. At one point I was taking 25 pills a day and smoking heroin when I couldn’t get any. I feel zero need for that now. I don’t take my anxiety medication as directed - I don’t take it as much as I’m supposed to - bc of people who say taking benzodiazepines is drug abuse. I have so much anxiety about taking my anxiety medication that I find myself white knuckling through life paralyzed by fear.

Most medication is addictive. I am on numerous medications for my mental health. I can’t just stop most of them because there will be consequences. But because I take these medications, that keep me well, I am not any more vulnerable to addiction. And I have dealt with addiction in the past - over 20 yrs sober and so proud of your own achievement in that area as to say it’s challenging is an understatement.

I have 12 years in recovery, and the idea of shaming someone for a relapse is the exact opposite of what the recovery/12-step community is about. And you’re right, doing so as a method of portraying yourself as “better than”, and profiting from that is so fkn gross - so thank you very much for calling him out on that. Same with the Med-shaming. And pretty much everything else you said. What he should be doing is acknowledging how relapse is often a very normal part of recovery/addiction and giving as many helpful examples as possible in ways to avoid it, while also giving kudos to anyone who is able to be honest about, and come back from, a relapse because it’s incredibly difficult to do, especially if the person has significant recovery time.
He needs to get off the internet. I haven't even watched this whole video yet but I am so annoyed with him. If you look at his recent videos he's back to his old shit but worse. I refuse to watch his content so I'll watch yours.
I get as passionate as you do when it comes to people in the meds they need to take to function. I still have panic attacks on my medication but it's not as violent as it used to be

Nobody is perfect and we all have flaws,but that’s what makes us human and I had a concussion about six years ago and it was very traumatic for me and took me years to get back from that. I have anxiety as well and sometimes get major anxiety attacks and anxiety is so bad so while I’m hearing you say this stuff about this guy and what he’s done it makes me so mad. He has no idea what he is talking about and how that truly affects others.
No idea who Jordan Peterson is but I find it appalling that Chris would shame him for relapsing, especially since he likes to talk about his own experience with addiction and sobriety so much. In any case I applaud the dude for recognizing he was having a problem and going through aa again, I can't imagine it being easy for him.
Also congrats to you for 5 years!! And thank you for making this type of videos, even though is stressful for you, you're helping lots of people recognize Chris's dangerous behaviours.
I recommend contrapoints video as well as philosophy tubes video, on him hes a psychologist whos well respected however he says some stuff that are quite oof

Soooo there are a lot of people who are unsympathetic to him checking in to rehab because he fanned the flames of the idea that you should be ashamed for needing rehab and "starting down that path" in the first place.

The video ‘I need to apologize’ made me angry because he talked about spreading false information and I just thought and commented about how he spread false information about at least Gary from Bipolar Corner (Chris called Gary a pervert and a sex addict) in his book. And his response to that comment was ‘I’m sorry you believed him’🤦♀️. Gary disproved those claims in multiple videos such as the one on his second Gary UnFiltered (I would recommend watching that one), Chris had no evidence for his claims other than his own words. It makes me so angry.
