- This was another incredible milestone. Being able to cook with gas is really important to us. Getting the gas supply installed to the Thetford 2 burner hob is a really big step in the build of our Volkswagen Crafter Self Build Camper Van. If you enjoy our gas supply and gas bottle locker install then please consider liking the video.

Being a gas engineer, I’m glad you got your work tested by a professional. Well done matey👍🏻
Thank you. It’s pretty scary stuff
The vans coming on, cooking on gas mate. You've done so much well done.
I have a LWB crafter being built for me because I knew I wouldn't have the time to do it myself. In my old T5 even the simplest job would take 5 times longer than I'd expect and would involve constant swearing.
I'm a plumber too and I'm glad you had it double checked. There is no harm in making sure it's tight.
Keep up the good fight. You'll get there!!!!
Well done 👍🏻 as you say a big step forward and the biggest achievement is doing it yourselves. I know you would have used a professional to check system but good to show that and discuss it.
You have done so well, and having checked is great. Self-belief is so hard to accept because we question ourselves all of the time keep up the good work.
Thank you very much 👍
Happy days! Bacon baps and coffees all round! Did I see the back door is scratched? 😬😬😬
”It's warm" he says as he puts his hand over an open flame 🤣....I had to chuckle, but under no circumstances am I laughing at you. What you said was an excellent example of stating the obvious when we feel very chuffed with ourselves for accomplishing something difficult and important for the first time! You have every right to feel chuffed and pleased with yourself. I think you did an exemplary job of plumbing that pipe in and installing that very nice hob. Very good work and good on you for having a professional check it.
I think I was so surprised it was a real flame 😂 thank you very much for watching 😊
👏👏Great to see a happy result . Keep it up 👏
Thank you very much 😊
Yeah, Man has acquired Fire 🔥!
May water be even easier.
Ha ha let’s hope so. Thanks for watching 😊
don't have a van yet, but the day I get hold of a nice one, it will probably be a diesel cocktop. have great respect for gas
Massive progress!
🙌
Well done, great job! 👍
Thank you very much
Brilliant job well done
Well done🤯
Thank you
Most camper/caravan taps are “lift to operate” style, whilst not all domestic taps are - watch out for vibration turning the tap on as you drive, even if only partially there’s normally enough pressure in the system (even with the pump turned off) to soak the sink cover chopping board.
Love the thumbnail!🤣
Not even photoshopped… actual makeup! The things we do for CZcams 😂
Thank you for your video's, really helpfull. I connected the gas pipes, but don't have a clue how to wire it up to the 12v. I only see a white connector block with two brown wires, but don't know íf this is the connector I have to use, and which is + and -. Could you explain?
Best wishes, Inge (Holland)
cooking on gate mate well done!
Thank you 😊
Best thumbnail ever 😂
Not sure that drilling a load of holes in the frame for your crash tested seat/bed frame was the greatest of ideas. Bonding in wooden battens between the frame to screw your panels into would have an alternative without compromising the strength of the frame.
The holes are tiny. The strength won’t have been affected
What drove your decision to install gas rather than going fully electric for everything?
When cutting with a 240v saw put lead over shoulder to prevent any cuts to cable !! THINK SAFE.....why did you not go for underslung ? I would have put the gas box facing side door for ease of gas bottle weight we aren't getting an younger !!!!😂
A domestic tap would be too heavy. Peter
Would have thought Induction Hobs would be safer and easier - no chance of running out of Gas ect
Yeah they are safer and easier but we don’t like the idea of “putting all our eggs in one basket”. We like cooking with gas and if we run out of electricity whilst off grid we can’t cook. Induction hobs take a huge amount of power and if we like in the future we can always get a plug in induction hob to use when plugged into shore power.
@@ABusAndBeyond Nice work. Induction is great, just as controllable but more efficient than gas and there's minimal residual heat left in the hob after cooking. Simply carrying both portable induction and camping gas cooking hobs would cover both bases and allow you to choose which you use at any given time without requiring the permanent gas hob which takes up valuable worktop space when you're not actually cooking. No more large gas canisters to store or potential gas leaks to worry about either. Just a thought.
Just an idea….we put a small piece of insect screen over our gas fallout so ants and other creepy crawlies couldn’t get in but fumes could still escape.
Ah good idea. 👍
