- In this creative session, Enrique Figueroa from Frankentoon Studio talks us through some of the techniques he relies on to get out of creative blocks, using old sketches as raw material. He also shares some insights into making artistic decisions and executing them using Affinity Designer, Affinity Photo and the Frankentoon content packs which can be found on the Affinity Store.
The Frankentoon Concept Master Vol.1: Nature Brush Pack and Neptune Illustration Kit featured in the session can be purchased here: affinity.serif.com/store/prod... and affinity.serif.com/store/prod...
Enrique is also offering a free Frankentoon Creative Session Pack to use alongside the creative session. It contains 16 sample brushes from his packs, Affinity templates to follow after the session, 2 colour palettes, 1 hi-res paper texture and references of the finished artworks. These can all be downloaded here affin.co/FrankentoonFC.

Frankentoon was one of the reasons why I bought affinity designer, I honestly believe they have the best content for illustrators who want to start using this powerful program. Thank you very much for this video, it was great!
same here! he and mr lemonade are the reasons why i bought affinity designer.
Sameee!! haha
Same! I bought this Sunday after see his video demonstrating the Placard brushes.
Oh, that's just amazing, thank you Carlos! Appreciate the support :D - Enrique
Me too!
Can't believe I missed this! Love this guy, his products, his work, and this app. 10/10
I feel that you poured your heart out and unreservedly gave us important resources to work with. It is very rare to find a professional designer who shares templates of their work, 16 high-quality brushes, textures, etc all for free. You Sir, are one of a kind. Thank you and may God bless you.
Thank you, my friend! It's my pleasure :D - Enrique
Thank you for all your hard work. Your brushes have helped me to fully transition from Adobe to Affinity. I am a professional designer of some 18 years, and was heavily entrenched in Adobe. Then I discovered Affinity. I took the plunge and said goodbye to Adobe last year. Myself and my business have not looked back.
Same here, Matt! I said goodbye to Adobe about four years ago. Our small staff also works with Affinity only. Hoping more studios take the leap in the near future :) - Enrique
Im floored by Frankentoons's presence! Nice to have a face with a voice.
Thank you so much John, that's too nice from you! - Enrique
You, my friend are no designer... you're frigging magician. You're the Merlin of Affinity! 😀
Enrique is pure gold. Not only his art is amazing, he has amazing personality, teaches well and deliver awesome products. He really is a good spokesperson for your products at Affinity :) And thank you guys and gals too for the best art package out there
Thank you, Matheus! That's really flattering :D - Enrique
I really appreciate the session pack with even a "water" smudge tool included! Great demo!
Great tutorial! I love Frankentoon brushes and it's such a joy to see Enrique use them in a livestream. Please bring him back for future Affinity livestreams.
These guys are the best ambassadors of this brand.
At last I meet the genie of the wonderful lamp!
Haha, nice comment! Thank you for watching, Jorge - Enrique
Enrique the best!! love frankentoon really inspiring
Aw, thank you, that's really flattering :D - Enrique
Thanks for igniting my creative spark again. Awesome!
Enrique's personality seems to totally match his style. What an entertaining and helpful session. Thank you for the free pack, Frankentoon! This generosity of sharing your skills, knowledge, and products keeps me coming back for more digital assets. (I own many of the packs used in this video, so I will have to do some more experimenting with all this inspiration in mind.)
Hi Affinity, just wanted to say thank you for this incredible valuable content you're delivering for free. It's also nice to see the faces behind members of the affinity community like Frankentoon or Ian. I really enjoy watching these videos and I'm always amazed how simple and effortless their work seems to be. So thank you a lot!
One small improvement: I personally don't like the premier function of youtube. When I get a notification about a new video from Affinity, I'm thrilled until I notices that it's just a premier that'll take place somewhen in the future. I personally prefer to get the video as a regular upload or a premier that's announced just a couple of hours before. But that's just my opinion :)
Keep on the great work!
Your approach and view is great! Thanks for this great suggestion. I'm already looking forward to do something funny with my collected sketches ...
Love me some Frankentoon! Waiting to learn and get some tuts on with him.
Thank you, Athena! I'm glad you enjoyed the session :D - Enrique

It’s always good when you are starting not to follow the rules and just practice what you want and how you want. Think outside the box.
It's the best isn't it? so liberating... Thank you for watching! - Enrique
Brilliant video! I’m only using designer on the iPad at the moment, but I’m going to download it onto my MacBook too so I can use all three app together! Love it, thank you!

I demand you bring back Enrique.
Waiting
first in line?
Thanks, I have some of the Frankentoon sets for AD and Procreate and always like to try the free sets too. One quick note, it appears as if it’s still impossible to import color palettes into the iPad version of Designer.
Hi, thank you for being so generous! How did you convert the pencil into a transparent pixel layer?
EEEEEL MERO QUIQUE 😂✌🏼
Sam, ¡maldito! Qué dice... jaja
I took a look at your website and I love it. Do you sell website templates? Thank you.
do you use the pencil tool with the mouse?
is there a way in affinity designer pixel persona, to snap a line to a perfectly straight line or perfect circle ; at the end of a stroke ( kind of like procreate does it?)
why rasterise the layers? what does it do for you?
Can you clarify your reasons for occasionally rasterising certain layers please.
Hi! To keep painting over 'clean' layers by applying or flattening the live adjustment layers. I hope this makes sense - Enrique
I've been using Affinity photo and bought Affinity Designer when it was on sale :- ) Do you have a link for instructions on how *you* use Designer? p.s. I also bought your Frankentoon pak thru Affinity.
pps I was looking for fun and creativity. Thank you for delivering!
Hold on one moment. I need to pick something up and put it back down again.
I don't get why would you rasterize vector. If I can keep everything vector then it can scale to no end. I don't see the advantage of it.
Will affinity photo ,design ever come for Android
this is a good video, want to be youtube friends?
i need Chinese cc
the one thing I still don't understand is why do you still rely so much on raster stuff with affinity designer, the whole point of a software like designer is to be vector based so that the picture can be resized to any resolution with a guaranteed 0 quality loss, when we do raster stuff, we might as well do it entirely in affinity photo
Lots of workflows use vector as well as raster, it's useful to have both in the same app!
