      It’s an attack on our history and culture covered up in virtue signals!! Nobody ever said that team name with any hate towards Indians, FFS. As a Cowboys diehard, seeing what has been done to a once proud franchise has been both sad and amusing, but mostly sad. The NFL lost something when Cowboys vs Redskins was relegated to the memories of old dudes like me

    My dad went to this game when I was a child. He was exactly the age I am now when he went. The Redskins held a special place in me and my family's heart. Unthinkable that someone was able to kill them. HTTR forever, and may God forgive Dan Snyder for the atrocity he committed.

      I missed the 1993 conference championships and Super Bowl because I was deployed on a west pac. It was my first time missing football playoff games since I started watching. It was really tough to deal with at a young age. I felt like I was missing history when really I was making it as part of the Somalia pull out.

    It was just near damn impossible to win at RFK in the mid 80's if you played against the Redskins at that time. The Redskins had two great pass rushers Dexter Manley and Charles Mann with Darrell Green as the corner and it was near impossible to run on the team. On offense Art Monk, Gary Clark, and emerging Ricky Sanders with George Rogers leading the way. Jay Schroeder was humming along in his second year. It's just that the Giants were just a better team in 1986 with LT playing out of his mind.

    • @gerrypeet4861

      Jay Schroeder wasn't really that good. He threw a lot of interceptions. That's probably why he was out as the starter after two years.

      @johnliberty3647 Před rokem

      Walton is my favorite Redskin Safety. Great tackler. I know we had better safety’s like Murphy, Taylor, Houston, Landry, etc.. but Walton was my favorite to watch. Played like a linebacker despite being under 200 pounds.

    • @NoBullsh_t
      @NoBullsh_t Před rokem

      @@johnliberty3647 I don't think Landry was better than Walton, but anyway all Walton did was blow people up for damn near six seasons, had a bit of Johnny on the spot ball hawk in him too. Don't get why they carried him for ex-Eagle Hoage and mediocre ass Copeland in '91, anyway...

    • @johnliberty3647
      @johnliberty3647 Před rokem

      I recall Walton being injured in 91 and Copeland who was acquired to play special teams and was forced into the line up. I went into the Navy after that and living on the west coast when not out to sea I didn’t see enough redskin ball to see if Walton ever returned. When I got back east after my enlistment The Redskins sucked and kept signing big name washed up players who couldn’t block or tackle. Kinda sad to see how bad the team had gotten. Walton did have some short comings if he had to cover a tall athletic receiving TE man to man. Petibone just did a great job of keeping Walton in position to take advantage of his strengths. He was often a laser beam zeroing in on the ball carrier. Great open field tackler. While wasn’t the hardest hitting safety his hits were hard and he hit players at the perfect spot to take the ball carriers legs out from under them. Reminded me of the pat Fischer highlights I have seen. Walton was a delight to see and I recall games being won due to his play like the non replacement game against the Giants in 1987. Redskins were down at halftime and Walton stepped up his game and shut down the giants. Yes the entire team stepped up that second half but it was Walton making the big plays on D fence

    • @NoBullsh_t
      @NoBullsh_t Před rokem

      @@johnliberty3647 so the end of the story goes, Walton came back after injury late in '91, played a little bit but didn't quite look like himself. Fast forward to the Super Bowl, Walton had bought his entire family tickets but the Skins opted not to dress Walton in favor of bringing up Terry Hoage off IR. Walton pleaded with Gibbs/Pettibone to at least him play special teams but they insisted on Hoage and by '92 Walton was gone..

    • @johnliberty3647
      @johnliberty3647 Před rokem

      That sucks, Walton was that defense to me. I know there were bigger stars but Walton’s fierce play set the tone of the defense. 91 was my senior year in HS and for some stupid reason teachers parents convinced me to do extra curricular activities other than sports to put on a resume which at that point in your life is empty.. I barely had time for football on Sunday and didn’t follow it. In my memories Walton was the strong safety one minute and gone forever the next. He really was a favorite of mine. He was tums neutralizer of the week for his first Super Bowl. I believe he elevated that defense that season with big plays. Sad he didn’t even dress for that last one
