It was meant as a joke and it went over everyone's head.
Part of what makes her so attractive is how attentive she is. Look at her body language, listening and reacting to every word Conan says. I think that the audience lives that feeling vicariously (In no small part due to the host being good at his job).
She seems to be present and enjoying herself, like most successful people do naturally.

Yes. She is exactly correct. The like is a filler for a pause in your thought. It also represents a period and several other forms of punctuation. People are just not confident enough to let the pause be an empty moment, so they say err, uh, like, umm, etc as a filler. Maybe people fear giving up their turn to speak, so they keep making sounds identify that their thoughts are not done.
Try talking without saying "like," and let the pause fill the space. It feels weird at first, but after a while, you realize, you sound more confident in what you say. Even if that is not the actual case.

"you know" is a big one too, and it is like you're asking for agreement or validation to keep going in the sentence, you know, like, when you're not sure where you're going with something?

people barely even talk in the UK never mind asking someone out, so i wouldn't worry about it. when i used to drink sometimes girls would approach me in nightclubs etc, but never in the street/gym etc. people here are already shy, and with the invention of dating apps, now there is basically no chance of anyone asking out someone in the UK unless there is alcohol involved.

Seriously, in cities with night-life like Newcastle you go out and you feel as if you are in a porn movie.
In Greece you ll still see lots of gorgeous women, but not as many.
There is a reason for it. Fitness madness and plastic surgery is way less common in Greece.
On the other hand, on a Sunday morning, (when the women who look like Jabba the Hut wake up to go to McDonalds) what you see in Greece is way more beautiful.

That peer pressure is also around in early adult life. I remember there was an Australian student in one of my classes in junior college. She sat near the back of the class and when she answered any of the professors questions almost all the students turned around to look at her while she spoke. I think they were more fascinated than anything else but it was awkard for her, so she'd try to go into an American accent most of the time.
