    My hat to the engineers who put that device together!
    Considering the multitude of sensors, hardware and software features contained in a single package, I can only imagine how many challenges they faced along the way to get it all to work seamlessly.
    The next logical step is to add a built-in 3D printer ;-)
    And because it has to remain small and portable, it will just print one layer at a time on water-soluble sheets which you then stack, rinse, and voila! you've got your 3D model :-P

    Just think, with one of these you can now completely scan yourself, copyright it. Trademark your name and identity details, and force companies to either pay you a license fee, or remove your personal details under DMCA- which will result in removal or litigation fees.
    Edit:
    This way no company can obtain, sell, posess, or distribute your personal details without license.

      But you are forgetting, the large companies write the rules of law and other data companies (CZcams) TOS, if lots of people followed this, or one person was promoting this idea hard, they would shut it down quick. For example I give greyjay 6 months tops to survive CZcams TOS.

    I received a stucco sprayer that is designed to work well with gas powered air compressors but with something like this you could easily design and aftermarket part to insert into it to make it work well with a smaller more affordable air compressor. Nice bit of gear! It...I would imagine...be handy for scanning plastic auto parts as well.

    Your self scan must have been first thing in the morning before a coffee and cigarette 😂
    It seems like a great product and I’m tempted because of it’s all in one package but it seems to me that this comes at a cost in processing power and will perhaps be only ever capable of quality and speed of its inbuilt computer.
    The dilemma of course is the standalone use without a pc is also very convenient but also limited in future upgrades.
    Any chance you might be able to review an Einstar model of similar cost comparing the quality and usability?

    I actually bought a revopoint Inspire and have been impressed with it so far. (only had it a month).
    Q. How would the Miraco be scanning the inside of a room, an alcove where you want to build custom lit shelves for example?
    The accuracy of the Inspire has been faultless and I managed to scan and print a damaged plastic latch for a Curver tool box first time with mm. accuracy . To measure accurately the inside details of a room or a car / engine etc and have a permanent record to refer to would be really useful !

    Another thing Star Trek is directly responsible for - the format of hospital CAT/PET scanners, and the setup of patient vitals/monitoring readouts onscreen at the head of the bed. It seems so self-evident and obvious now - but that’s because Star Trek props people worked it out back in the 1960s.

    3D Gaussian splattering is the new big thing in 3D scanning.
    But it doesn't create meshes so it can't be used for 3D printing. At least not at the moment.
    Because it represents the scene as a bunch of colored and distorted 3D Gaussians instead of triangles. Quite genius.
    But for creating virtual reproductions it's nearly unbeatable. I'm sure someone will make a converter for 3D printers eventually.

    • @ThinkingandTinkering
      @ThinkingandTinkering  Před 7 měsíci

      isn't that photogrammetry? but what you say doesn't make sense to me - if a captured image can be rendered in 3d by any of the rendering programs it can be 3d printed

    • @Embassy_of_Jupiter
      @Embassy_of_Jupiter Před 7 měsíci

      @@ThinkingandTinkering Don't get me wrong, it's possible, but just not at the moment.
      It is a totally new way to render 3D objects. All the slicers are built to work with mesh models, this new method doesn't use meshes.
      You would need a way to A) convert the 3DGS models to mesh models or B) slice models from 3DGS models directly. Since it's so new those don't exist yet to my knowledge. That's why I said it doesn't work at the moment.
      Regular 3D scenes are basically just composed of painted hollow surfaces, while 3DGS models are more volumetric and continuous across the entire scene.
      The thing is, you can't really replicate the fidelity of 3DGS with normal 3D printers.
      If you had a printer that could control the color and transparency of every point in the printed object, then you could fully leverage the fidelity of 3DGS models.
      Like replicating a Murano glass sculpture with complicated volumetric patterns of varying opacities inside, that's where 3DGS models would shine. Regular mesh models like from this 3D scan couldn't do that. And regular photogrammetric point clouds couldn't do that either.

    • @NeoShameMan
      @NeoShameMan Před 6 měsíci

      @@ThinkingandTinkeringtechnically it's a representation of light rays from multiple image, ie a light field, thus it doesn't have a real volumetric encoding, they can be seen as small screen floating in air to approximate all viewpoints. It's complementary to photogrammetry in that it help create new synthetic view for the solver to reduce into volume.
