- As part of our mini research project, we interviewed three Japanese who are currently staying in Malaysia, particularly in Universiti Sains Malaysia, USM, about the difficulties and challenges that they are facing during their stay in Malaysia. All credit goes to the interviewees, Professor Hideyuki Nagao, Ms. Matsumura Miki & Mr. Kyohei Sato :)
//Just to clear a few things up - Both Ms. Matsumura and Mr. Sato are exchange students from Akita International University, AIU. Mr. Sato lived in Malaysia for about 8 years when he was a kid (he went to Garden International School in KL) and another 2 years (as an exchange student in Penang) before this interview was conducted. And yes, Prof. Nagao is a practising Muslim.

its not hard to throw rubbish into dustbin - ayat padu
Menunjukkan tahap tamadun org jepun amat jauh dgn org malaysia ...

"Saya tak faham kenapa sampah bersepah di jalan dan senang sahaja nak buang sampah ke dalam tong" - Padu dan tajam.
tak cukup senang bro... paling senang ialah buka campak selesai... haha... masa muda cam tu la.. dewasa da mau kemas..
Didikan dari kecil salah
I miss Dr Nagao, such a great lecturer. He has to adapt to Malaysian cultures and his supervised students have to cope with his Japanese ways. Still can't get over this video. He is such an inspiration, his whole family reverted and become good practising Muslims.
+naz husna is that true? then its too bad with the thing regarding her daughter being not accepted into sekolah agama
That's a sad thing. He shouldn't have done that. Hope that he reverts back to his original religion.
Jyo Shigeru is it true or not ? I never heard about it anyway...
Johannas Sebastian you just saying things like "owh no.. he supposed to eat rice.. I hope he will eat rice instead of noodles"
Hello 🙋🙋 it's freedom of choice. No one asked him to do that.
Agree. so Lina Joy should be allowed to convert to Christianity. That's her rights and choice!
I know Dr Nagao, he teach us plant pathology!very understanding, punctual(😄), religious, and had a memorable accent!hi Dr Nagao 🙋
Atiqah Khalil is he muslim? About sending his daughter to agama classes?
yes he is
@@mahadir7 lecturer USM mna?
That is because Japanese people back in their home country are already used to be punctual and they take their punctuality very seriously
@@Hae182 ade sejadah kat kerusi dia
the young guy speaks fluently english without any japanese accent.
he went to international school...no wonder
Chun Hong Cheng he lived in Malaysia for 10 years
And he went to school in Penang... Can completely understand I went to school 2 years in penang where i learned to speak english fluently(im of french language origin), but my bahasa melayu is so very very basic. A bit of a shame, but its just the way in penang I suppose...
Wait untill he say gorira...
Blood Rogue HAHAHAHAHA
Two biggest lessons we as Malaysians need to learn:
1) Promise not accomplished (like 15 minutes late)
2) Lazy to use garbage bin
I think we need to learn from Japanese too. Thanks for the feedback.
Prof Nagao taught me during my degree in USM.. He is so nice.. I miss his lecture ;___;
I know a japanese couple whos been living in the east Malaysia for 15 YEARS. I was surprised when they first speak bahasa to me, they were realy good. The lady in the video said she kept getting darker, its impressive how the local malaysian chinese can keep their fair skin without using sun cream. Thats the results of adaptive evolution 😀
I am susprised she is getting darker since she is from Okinawa. Their climate there is similar to the Philippines. So should be more or less like us too. Maybe she is just the sensitive type.
Malaysian Chinese do use sun block.
@Alisha most Asian women prefer fairer skin.
possibly Japanese and Malay are come from same stock (ancestor). But the climate is the difference.
die ckp tu betol....bkn susah pon nak buang sampah ke dalam tong sampah..
zz asofis betul tu
Kann......
Typical Malaysian.memangla
Dia punya ayat padu macam darah dah kat Malaysia doh hmmm savage 😂💪💗
Dah didikan xbetul
Yes it's true. The public transportation system in Malaysia is terrible.
Chun W Tan not in selangor except KTM
Akmal Azmi
agreed. public transport is a pain in PENANG. Not so in Sgor, KL, even N9.
Here in perak it's also a mess
in KL, the public transportation is great
Not in Selangor? Are you living under a rock? Bus never on time. They don't stick to a timetable. Putra LRT always delay becoz of breakdown. Even the new MRT have problems. Yet they never learn and still continue to implement the driverless train system. Ampang LRT have a driver, it hardly ever breaks down but still unreliable because it has to share tracks with Putra.
I am Malaysian but I live in Japan one year. I like Japan but I like my country too.
'Promises always not accomplished' 'always 15minutes late' lol even Japanese recognise our bad habits 😂
the most words we hear was on the way(otw) but take it 30minutes laters..haha
Betoi betoi betoi....
Haha btul. Bkn nak ckap org lain, abg aku sendiri janji jam 10 datang jam 11.😂Org Jpun lain diorg dtg lbih awal dri masa dttapkan.
And you guys are proud of it instead of working on correcting it
we have "malaysian time"... if u wanna make an appointment, make sure u plan to meet them 1 hour earlier...then u can meet them on the time u desire...
Love Japan🇯🇵 from Malaysia🇲🇾
Living in malaysia for 10 years its a must to learn Bahasa Melayu. And supposedly you have to know our basic language. The Bangladeshi workers here can speak in Bahasa Melayu only within 1 year.
Hey! I know the lecturer! He is a nice but quiet guy. Probably because he just came to Malaysia on 2007? Good to hear he is doing fine.
ingatkn pakcik tu malaysian at first.
Ye lab npk mcm org msia jer 😅
itu professor nagao..lecturer di usm..baik orangnya:)
+hanim fyka english please
mf mohamed, hanim says the old professor is professor nagao, a lecturer teaching in USM (Universiti Sains Malaysia) & he's very kind.
Mysha Park kan😂
Japanese looks so kind and friendly. I hope I could make friends with a Japanese person.
It's been 7 years for me :) as an Japanese xD

LOL , we like Japan , u guys like malaysia. We like cold weather, u guys like hot weather. We like Japanese food, U guys like Malaysian food. everything are Sarcarsm ... LOL . I love to learn Japanese
Ichimaru Denshigaku thanks to the dorama hitotsu yane no shita i have started to learn japanese bit by bit...its quite hard but if there is a will there is a way...oyasumi....😃😃😃
I ...I don't like cold weather tho, warm weather is better.
You need to learn English first because the use of "sarcasm" in your comment was totally wrong ^_^;;
and we like Maria Ozawa too.. agree?
@@zam023 I think the person meant to say ironic but I'm not sure
Maybe it's already obvious what was actually meant and I was mistaken 😅
Hahaha Dr Nagao pun ada, pernah mengajar aku subjek Plant Pathology... Very nice man, glad he featured in this video
Very good I love Japang too! from Malaysia 🇲🇾💯 Watching the video in 2021.
my friend is from Okinawa also and good to see some people from same place some to Malaysia.
I always saw Dr.Nagao in the mosque of USM last time......long time do not see him around USM like used to be...hope someday he will be back teaching at USM
There are 20 000 people with japanese descendent in Malaysia. It is reflected to the japanese colonization in malaysia from 1942 till 1945 before the British claimed back the land. After independence in 1957,there are still some people with japanese decendent. There is a japanese school located in Subang Jaya,Selangor. Some of them can still speak japanese although most of them speak malay, chinese and other malaysian language.Other country with japanese descendents are Brazil and Peru.☺
That Japanese school is normally for expat children, if I am not mistaken.
The issues with punctuality, littering and grouping were spot on! Although not all of us are like that, these issues are still a bother to me especially littering. Litterbugs are everywhere!! They can't seem to hold on to their rubbish and find a rubbish bin, they just pretend to drop it or throw it out of their car. *Facepalm* I apologize on behalf of their shameful behaviours *bows*
Well well! It's a pity that there are some of us like that?
Though I'm rather happy to hear about the nice people part~
Shunkai92
agreed. I don't get this. Why some get it, wraps are to be binned while you have those who dumps rubbish as they please! Its the same with toilets, but heck, its the same in China
😛
Shunkai92 Yeah. Susah nak educate kan org Malaysia part ni. I always nag people to not litter. They don't like it lol and I'm not popular because of that haha.
Anak dulu pon suka buang sampah kluar tingkap keta.. pernah 2 kali aku berhentikan keta suruh masing2 kutip balik....
Alhamdulilah..... mereka sampai skrg lbih disiplin bab-bab sampah ni..
Kadang2 ambik sedikit masa utk mendidik... can make a lot of different.
We need more people and parents like you.
I have seen documentary on the Japanese eduaction. During pre-school, the school focus on teaching children about hygiene, keeping their surroundings clean and respecting people. I doubt our pre-school teach this. I know that the pre-school my sister's child go to doesn't.
Ayat prof tu memang makan dalam sebagai student U. Hahaha!
Aw... that is great and I am happy that they love Malaysia and to be frank I love Japan too. :)
Promise always not accomplised..hahaha...that's why we call it "janji melayu"
YES YES YEEESSSSS. Kalau benda start pukul 7 make sure inform pukul 6 dah siap. Like serious duhhh T.T benci sifat mcm tu
Janji Malaysia bukan melayu
Melayu gak
Melayu gak kena
Entah..... patutnya semua org kena take note termasuk sy sendiri..
pls need more video malaysia-japan
hii I‘m japanese too😊
Promises are not accomplished! Hahaha janji di capati!
He must have been refering to all the late assignments >_
I like this interview... i always here.. malaysian people are good, nice and so on... i really want to hear their opinion for our bad side
A good video but somehow it manages to attract negative people in the comment section too.
1.02 ."It is much different from Japan". Yes you are really right. There are many trashes at the drain and some places in malaysia. ☺
nice video.
my suggestions, maybe all 3 of you should travel on sabah, especially on your holiday time, because there much more to learn on here.... you all will not dissapointed here....hehehe....just too happy to have a Japanese people leave on our country.... nice video admin.... keep it up.... 👍👍
asia city ada byk japanese, tanjung aru byk korean kann
I really like them ><
they are so nice and I'll study hard so i can go to japan 😄
patutnya depa mention skali pasal troli kat mall.. padahal ada tmpat letak dia.. tp nk jugak biaq bsepah blkang kreta org.. yg paling best dia biaq sbelah tmpat letak troli.. inilah Malaysia kwn2.. those who asked why they don't bother to learn our language, maybe they did, but not that comfortable or hav courage to do so.. mcm kita jgk, kdg2 kita dh blajaq bahasa org.. tp bila nk bcakap jd x brani.. mungkin mcm tu..
Betul do,bukan susah nak buang sampah dlm tong sampah',aih😃
How can i call Matsumura Miki
macam nak wassap cik miki matsumara ye?
nak belajar japanese dari dia....
malaysia need to be stricter about cleanlines... not just in city, but towns and villages as well
Matsumura miki itu tinggal dekat malaysia lagi ke ??
Why is the video ahead of its time
I think Sato's English proficiency is revealingly good compared to most Malaysian 20 year-olds... I had a teacher in my primary days that looked just like Mr. Hideyuki...and Ms. Miki looks cuter and cuter by the minutes. :P
I love the way the prof. Speak little
yay they liked Malaysia!!!! YAY! satu malaysia!
LoL: It's a shame but true.
Japanese people are very kind.
Missed Japan so much!
MinumKopi0 yes ive started to like japan...thanks to the jodrama hitotsu yane no shita
lecturer tu macam familiar... macam judge miyio haritu lah!
i think people foreign should test all country in the world then choose one country that you like most and live.so there don't have any problem like you don't like in country
mcm mne nk contact かのじょ tu?
7:50 yes indeed..i cant understand it either
Bila masuk part stereotype, part yang paling deep dan kelakar adalah bila prof jepun tu kata "promise always not accomplished" hahahaha...it is normal for us as a uni student doing that kind of work(Malaysian)
how do I call you ?
Wau.. Nasi campur the best..!!!
Hey girl! It depends on where you eat! Don't go Starbucks or McDonald's which is expensive
Most difficult challenge to deal with?
"Maybe JPN"
AHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA, oh man I spit my drink hearing that.
I love that answer ^_^
about the bad habit even i as Malaysian i am agree about that....hahaha...sorry for our bad behaviour, haha but we will try to improve from time to time...thank you also about your compliment for malaysia
Japanese boy look MALAYSIAn 😂😂 honestly all of them look MALAYSIAn
Really nice people
Ooooo University Sains Malaysia
Well i try to do british speaking but...i mess up
the lecturer is literally Keiji Shibusawa
Very good
nah japanese not really hard to learn after you go chinese school i also go to chinese school when elementary i learn japanese when i age 16 it took me 3 month to learn the basic and can communicate using word or speak
I like hideyuki nagao
the whole Malaysia admires Japan so much, but Malaysians only live to enjoy life, life is free of hard purpose here, if you understand that, nothing quite matters.
I am malaysia i can pronounces english very very well

Japanese is very disciplined. I use to work in Japanese factories and us very clean. Malaysia the toilet is so so dirty. OMG

Damn that lecturer looks fun lol. I wanna be his student XD
People are kind here, more flexible than Japan and the people I really like , people are mostly humble .. that's enough lol .

Japanese are very polite, so different from the Malaysian Chinese.
So different from your mom.
@Belajar Nonsense.
"Many garbages on street. Its not difficult to throw the garbage into the garbage bins" Bapak deep doh . Betul lah ape dia ckp. Its not difficult to throw the garbage into the garbage bin.
