Point of correction: I don't know about now but during my time in 2012 even if you've done National service before you can still apply to do it again and this has nothing to do with corruption or the system not working. At that time you could legitimately apply to do national service again because more people were needed.
Also I beg to differ if they say the system in Nigeria works better than Ghana. That is untrue. I have lived in Nigeria before and I have listened to more Nigerians who believe the system in Ghana works better than Nigeria. The system in Nigeria is more than broken. That is not to say Ghana doesn't have its own issues but it isn't true that Nigeria's system works better than Ghana's. Nonetheless I have really enjoyed your podcast and hope to see more.

So, where do the people running the bad government come from? How did they end up in government? Why can't the good people hold the bad government accountable or even replace them? Who created the good system in Nigeria - the bad government or the good people? What stops the good people from taking advantage of the good system they have to create better socio-economic conditions for their own benefit?

How can you say systems work in Nigeria better than Ghana?? Nothing works in Nigeria. If you go to Lagos, you can be in traffic for long, only for to get to the scene and realize that somebody is fixing his car tire in the middle of a busy road that is causing the traffic . Drivers drive through red light and get away with it. Drivers in increase fares anyhow. Each driver charges differently for the same distance. Yes I agree if u say our system is weak. A Nigerian will come to Ghana disguise him/herself into being a Ghanaian, learn a little twi, give a huge money to the bad boys and take our passport.
Whereas in Nigeria you can't do it.
Not that their system is properly managed...ooo but because u can't blend on easily, the language is hard to learn and u will not easy to get their accent, and your name factor for them to identify u.
The system is not working because every Nigerian in the country say he is half Nigerian and half Ghanaian and will be accepted easily.
The system is not working when a Nigerian will school here and after join our National Service Scheme whereas in Nigeria even when u are born there u are a foreigner u have to go to your country of origin and do your service, I have heard some Ghanaians born there and after school have to come to Ghana for their N. Service.
