Resident Evil VII is by far one of the most anticipated games in the first quarter of 2017. It's been over 4 years since the last main title in the series, and the anticipation has reached a fever pitch for this new iteration.
For game movie purposes, the game was difficult to edit since there aren't many traditional "cutscenes." There are tons of cinematic scary moments, but in order for those to work, we definitely had to leave some quiet time before horror moments so that there would more surprises throughout the viewing experience. As always we used relevant gameplay, important dialogue and all cutscenes to create a fluid cinematic experience. We hope you enjoy!
MY THOUGHTS ON THE GAME:
There's been a split response leading up to RE7. There's one side that sees this new game as an Outlast/Silent Hills clone; a game that has drifted so far from the Resident Evil franchise that it no longer should carry the name. The other group of people don't care if it is a Silent Hills clone, but just are happy to see the horror back in the franchise.
I was one of those who criticized the game for seeming like a cash grab clone of the current horror trend. Where is Umbrella Corps? Where is Leon, Chris, Jill or any other hero from the franchise? After playing the demo, I was pleasantly surprised on how genuinely scary it was and how much fun it was to find all the hidden secrets. The full game itself is a more linear than the demo, but it has to be to push the story forward. There are still tons of secrets to find and a variety of fun puzzles to solve. In truth, this is probably the most like the original since Resident Evil 2. It is almost like playing the original in first person. Encounters with enemies don't happen too often, but each time it's tense and terrifying. Combat is slow and deliberate and it adds to the atmosphere.
The story starts with a simple tease. You are Ethan and your girlfriend has been missing for 3 years. Out of the blue you get a message from her telling you that she is alive so you set out to try and save her. It's simple but effective in sucking you in to the story. By the end it's much more complex and the story gets more and and more interesting as it unwinds. The story is definitely influenced by some classic horror movies.
Overall, RE7 is a return to form for the franchise. Before you cast it off as a cash grab clone, I'd say the game deserves a chance. Especially if you enjoy horror games. The game took 10 hours to get through the story.. After you beat it on Normal, you unlock the "Madhouse" difficulty, which could make it worth a second playthrough. One of the better horror games in recent memory

That cop was pretty reasonable to be honest. Ethan could have done a better job making his case, but then again he was probably scared and under the effects of adrenaline. It's hard to be rational in that state.

If you watched the video prior Ethans turn in the game you can actually skip the clown part and just go straight to the ballon a room and type in the pass.

Was going to say the same things about it being a Outlast & Silent Hill clone hybrid with a bit of Texas Chain Saw Massacre, but there is no for of spirit what so ever the game is know for, yes there are scares to it but more along the line jump scare, now in depth fear creeping on your spine, scuh Silence of the Lambs, I do not think I could talk to Sit Anthony Hopkins & see dr. Lecter, but this was hmm.......not sure to sure buy it but no, 5/10

That opening video made ME smile. Mia clearly loved Ethan very much, As did Ethan, even after she cut of his hand and tried to kill him he refused to give up, he could've easily just said 'Fuck this, you're on your own Mia". But he didn't he continued his mission, to rescue her or die trying. His resolve is understandable from ANY Husband's perspective...One who truly loves his Wife that is.
There is love, then if your spouse cut your hand of and turned into a possessed psycho when u haven't seen her for 3 years would u turn and run?

While the lip syncing in this game can be inexcusably bad at times, the voice acting is fucking incredible. It's one thing to sound crazy, but to actually convince someone that the voice actor may have came straight out of an asylum takes talent. I can appreciate that about this game.

The one good thing about RE7 is that it doesnt feel like your ordinary RE game, it kinda felt like a nice horror movie. If you're looking for something new then this is a game for you.

i thought maybe he was infected with some form of the virus that had the bakers (a form on the virus which makes it harder for the girl to take control of him? i mean she's able to control everyone else in some way so why not him?) allowing him to regain control of his hand as long as he could hold it on the wound. also allowing him to heal bad wounds, but still be able to die and not return.

RE7 and RE8 have one of the most compelling and emotionally driven stories out of any video game series I’ve ever played. Bawled at the end of 8, legit cried during realizations in 7.

I guess they wanted a different identity for the game outside of Leon, umbrella corps, etc which is understandable and actually refreshing they took a chance a did something new with RE I like this a lot.

I couldn't play it cuz I'm too much of a coward so I watched this instead
First impressions... I must say... Ethan’s reactions to seeing things like the dead body in the water etc are very unrealistic he should have freaked out and be more worried for his life and his girlfriend’s well being. Not to mention getting stabbed or seeing a disfigured face on his previous clean girlfriend. Outlast did that better, you could hear the player’s heavy breathing as his adrenaline spiked or almost feel his pain as he cried in horror. That said the game looks beautiful the character models and the way they move are almost indistinguishable from real humans except for the facial animations. I believe LA Noires facial animations would thrive here.
More Sam Raimi, less Michael Bay.
Good too see the series still has a bit of Hollywood flair, jusy glad its taking influence from places that make sense this time. XD

I love resident evil 7 with a passion everything from the antagonists from the setting I love it
I'm not familiar with the other six parts of the Resident Evil story, but this one seemed very interesting to me, and I'll probably buy it soon. After watching it, I personally thought that it was a really great story, up until the end. It felt really cheap to just have it end with a big monster battle, and then they go fly off into the sunset (literally). There was a lot of potential to make it very emotional and touching, because the backstory of Eveline is very intriguing and depressing. I haven't seen the other endings, and literally this video is all I know about the Resident Evil franchise, but those are my thoughts on it.
Michael Guiang That's the Mia ending. If you choose to cure Zoe the ending is a lot better in my opinion and makes more sense.

this was a really good game, but they should rename the title a spin off, cause everyone thought that resident evil 7 there would be a returning character and also another virus mutation. Overall this game rank as 8/10 for me.

Funny how people never called Silent Hills an Outlast clone, probably because Hideo Kojima was behind it so everyone automatically assumes it will be the greatest thing ever. There is nothing wrong with this game like people say, there's just no Leon in there so they will cry. If it had Leon, you'd see the haters praising the game like 4. If you play as Alyssa Ashcroft in this game with her flashlight and a camera, then yeah, it would be very similar to Outlast, but it isn't.
