      In Houston. I used to wait tables in the Galleria and we'd sometimes get celebrities in. Usually it was ok but sometimes it sucked. It was horrible trying to get people to leave them alone. The other waitstaff were just as bad sometimes too. This was the 90's so at least we didn't have to deal with cellphones and cameras. It would be really hard now I imagine.

    When I lived in SoHo in NYC (90’s), celebrities lived among me. It was very common to see famous people in coffee shops, restaurants, etc. It wasn’t really a big deal. You’d notice them, and maybe say, “hey, hope you are well”. That would be it.

      Well you know how some of those ancient Hindu and Egyptian mythologically based philosophies that went back thousands of years had the kind of "porn/non-porn" sexually explicit depictions carved into their architecture and sculptures? And they considered it to be something profoundly mystical spiritual and meaningful in their belief system and ancestry? Well I think that's precisely what Anthony has done when he wrote lyrics for blood sugar sex Magic for example, to me he just turned all of that "porn-non porn" and sexually explicit literature into something beautiful magical mystifying and liberating.. and he was the first ever to do so and step away from the stereotype of what is meant to be good lyrics and meaningful and profound such as that considered in singer-songwriter kind of lyric writing. But that is just me so I'm speaking from a completely subjective standpoint

      Why torture kids with 23 years of terrible music? Freaky Styley through Blood, Sugar, Sex, Magik was the last time the Chili Peppers were any good.

    • @wasitworthit1
      @wasitworthit1 Před rokem +2

      @@DaneGerAhead27 I wouldn’t say after that album was the last time they put out anything good. I would say afterwards that’s when they started experimenting. I remember being a teen, high af listening to their discography, and up until that point their latest album was “Stadium Arcadium “, and after a those two albums they went from being confined by a certain, specific, or particular sound to experimenting with different sounds, and using their inspirations as well.
      If they would have stuck to their earlier sound they may not have even made it past the 90’s, or early 00’s with the up and down trends rapidly happening throughout all genres of music.

    • @DaneGerAhead27
      @DaneGerAhead27 Před rokem

      @@wasitworthit1 While that's true it kept them relevant, they might as well have faded into obscurity. Not to knock the Peppers but limitations seem to be a lot of bands savior. Also I don't know if ripping off Hendrix licks or copying genre trends of the time really counts as experimenting. That's like saying Load was experimentation instead of the shameless numetal rip we know it as.

    • @wasitworthit1
      @wasitworthit1 Před rokem +2

      @@DaneGerAhead27 while knowing you’re limits is good in most cases, sometimes experimenting also broaden the possibility of listeners. Call it selling out if you want. The Chili peppers never went full blown pop. I grew up with my mother listening to Motown classics, funk, RnB, rock n roll. So when the chili peppers implemented those elements it changed the way they could do things. Sure we never want a good band to move on, but to say they were terrible is just your opinion.
      Most “trends” are things from the past that have another revival. Drawing from the past is more common place then many realize from design, sound, art, fashion, ideologies, literature, and so forth, and is often the inspiration in the first place. If a mixture of trash/ punk/ hardcore is what you’re more into then of coarse those two albums will resonate with you. If you’re looking for a mixture of a band who can go heavy, funky, slow, and more then of coarse it has the probability of resonating with much more individuals. “A Jack of all trades is not a master of one. Better to be good at all things then just a master of one”.

    And there's the flipside of L.A. where people who live here can also choose to leave celebrities alone when they're out and about and respect their privacy, like many of us do, without being jaded and self-obsessed or anything like that. The city is a big, busy place to live. Many people are cool with simply getting on with it and minding their own business. This can also be the reason why celebrities choose to live here. That's just an egoless personality developed from a lifetime of substance use (look at his shirt and style). It makes you more 'genderless' due to the understanding you don't need to put on a constant facade of masculinity to impress anyone. You could say Mike Tyson's personality is a bit camp as well, but you know he would knock your head off.
