For those of you who don't understand what the controversy was about basically it was a heavily politically charged commercial in the sense that they implied that all you need is solidarity or love in this case in the form of a Pepsi to end all of the worlds problems/protests etc. The Pepsi was symbolism for love and union, it essentially had a good message but at the same time it was ridiculous, obviously 🙄 our problems are much deeper that just loving one another since clearly love is not enough to keep people together.

For all the people confused let me explain why it was offensive by both Pepsi & Kendall.
A huge company like Pepsi making a commercial at the same time multiple black people were murdered by the cops and the marches were at a high was extremely insensitive, almost profiting off the deaths of individuals. To top it off they choose Kendall Jenner of all people to lead the "march"? Not a protester, never attended a Black Lives Matter march, never really spoke out on the subject, probably never experienced institutional racism/racial inequality.

No it is very offensive in the sense that it uses the power of a protest of political movement and unity in diversity to promote a product in this case a drink. It assumes that a Pepsi could solve police brutality. It glosses over the reality of classes and injustice (only attraktive, young, healthy, happy people are shown) which is cleverly disguised by representing diversity. This is done by most ads but taking this highly political topic and instrumentalising it for profit is going way too far.
