  • Here's a bit of video from last night's Peter Hook (from Joy Division and New Order) show at the Chicago Metro.
On this song, Billy Corgan from Smashing Pumpkins sat in and joined the band.

Kinda sad that Billy Pumpkinhead needs a cue card for the lyrics, considering he is supposed to be a "professional" singer. I saw him on stage with Bauhaus once to perform Telegram Sam and they had the lyrics written on a poster board for him. Otherwise, nice video. Thanks for posting it.

Billy Corgan looks more like Bill Burr in this video, between that cap that he's wearing & having to read the fucking lyrics of a song that I could have sworn ALL professional rock singers would already know?!

Billy Corgan really had no business being there.

Why would you say that? Billy Corgan is a life-long Joy Division/New Order fan whose music greatly influenced his work. So to have a chance to sing on stage with one of his childhood idols (Peter Hook) in his hometown of Chicago (especially at the legendary venue like the Metro) is a dream-come-through for Billy. It shows he is not just a flashing rock star but also a humble fan. Actually I was there also that night as humble fan in the audience, and I would have sure as hell done exactly the same thing as billy if Peter Hook invited me to jam with him. Just like millions of other Joy Division/New Order fans all over the world would have done also. So chillax Lin dude, I know it's only rockn' roll but we all like it. Greetings from Chicago:)

@@robertbauer3419 In the early 90s, my band played a show or two with his band. This was before anybody got famous. I remember Billy Corgan on several occasions going out of his way to be rude to the guys in the other bands, to their girlfriends, to the bar staff. Totally unprovoked, just pompous rockstar ego.
Joy Division, and Ian Curtis in particular, were the antithesis of rockstar ego. This show took me back to my teenage years, but I was disappointed with the way that it ended.
