- This soundbite ended up being one of the parts heard in "Eclipse" as heard on TesseracT's amazing sophomore album "Altered State". Ashe's vocals fit the song way better.
This is from the Century Media Lowering the Tone announcement, and now recently posted on / untitled-demo-tesseract . this for anybody who doubts the dudes potential at being a great singer. - Hudba
I love Ashe and I love Altered State, but this demo still holds a special place in my heart. Elliot brought an awesome new element into TesseracT and it sucks that he and the rest of the band got so much negative fan reaction from it. I just wish they'd released this as a full song before he left!
perspective was amazing but i don't think elliot could've made altered state what it is now though ashe nailed the fuck out of it
originally this song was intended for dan tompkins, i watched his twitch feed on his remake of eclipse, i had no idea. i wonder what his take would've been like had he written his lyrics for it?
Am I the only one who thinks that EVERY SINGLE vocalist that passed through TesseracT was exceptional (in their own way)
That's why tesseract took them, a unique band needs a unique singer imo
I actually love the way the vocals express on this song. They are so slippy on the tempo with vocals but it fits. I like this eery feel a lot.
this version is pretty awesome, but Ashe was perfect for this album. it'd be cool if they worked with Elliot more in the future tho
This demo was awesome :) Bit of a Jeff Buckley vibe with Elliot on this one!
Glad I'm not the only one who's always been reminded of jeff buckley by elliots voice. Especially on good tigers music
@@TheLowest Yeah definitely, he makes really interesting choices with his vocal lines and overdubs
I'm not sure if this sounds bad, or if I'm just so used to Ashe's version that I can't accept any other rendition.
No.. You're right its bad. Going to be interesting to see how Daniel does this song.
I just found out Ashe left...
Pardon me while I cry like a bitch.
Rick Scott I know :/ but it seems to be a trend with them. They replace their vocalist by the album nowadays. I guess they're just trying to find the perfect sound.
James Manney No his voice was PERFECT so who's the new vocalist!
Theodore Schantz Daniel Tompkins is coming back
poor Elliot, he's always getting a lot of hate
+Alex Djent is he? ha ha..poor guy. I saw him perform with Good Tiger recently and he's an incredible live performer and fantastic vocalist. He seems to have a pretty big following.
+Unabashed Melancholy Tesseract fans were always shitting on him. I truly wish that he were the singer for Altered State. :(
+Jeremy Jensen no. just no.
brock russell sorry man. Can't stand Ashe's voice. This recording is so much more enjoyable with Elliot.
I got to see Tesseract back when Elliot was in the band, and he was wonderful.
i fully agree. i stopped listening to tesseract after ashe joined. it just felt like a "lets sound like dan tompkins as much as possible"party whereas elliot coleman brought something new to the table.
This is the "full version" this is literally it. This is the entire track that was sent to Elliot to put vocals over. It sounds like there should be more and there might be but this is all that was given to Elliot to record on.
I am seriously addicted to elliot's voice. It's so amazing.
absolutely love the feel of this song
after listening to this again, it's actually pretty awesome :) good job tesseract! great job elliot!!
sooo good.
Dan Tompkins - Vulnerable Demonic voice
Ashe O' Hara - Angelic voice
Elliot Coleman - Passionate high pitched voice
Gotta admit it... At first Dan and Ashe were the only TesseracT vocalists for me but Elliot Coleman is starting to grow in me now...
These sound like the words of a 'sommelier'😂
I love Ashe more than any other Tesseract vocalist, but I honestly prefer Elliot's take on this song. It makes it feel a lot more eerie.
Yeah, I have never seen him live although I have watched videos of him and I am very impressed
Wow, amazing vocals! I listened to another song a few months ago, I cannot remember the vocals being this great? wihu, eargasm
I've known Elliot for a few years now. It's weird to go from hanging out in his apartment to seeing so many people commenting on him.
i fucking love it and the direction they're taking!
This track made it onto the new album!
I seriously hope this demo makes it to the album.
@chrispy125 Entirely agreed. Adds a whole new depth to what they're doing. Makes it a much more interesting listen.
I feel like shit because I will never hear this full song with Elliot.
Why the hell is people hating on Elliot? His voice fits perfectly into to the music and his range is amazing. If anyone can ever replace Dan, it's Elliot for sure
@thekidbass1 not what i meant, but uneven structure is like hauntingly beautiful.
R.I.P. TesseracT
elliot is great. he kinda reminds me of thom yorke
that chorus fucking lights my soul on fire
This song will see the light on the new album though! (with different vocals of course). It's called Eclipse.
@itsTempleofSound
Yup, like I bought "One" the instrumental version of their album...so maybe I can just keep doing that..
SO glad this song is a thing on the new album, but I find myself missing the old vocal patterns! Oh well, still one of my favorite tesseract songs.
I got to see them when Elliot was filling in on tour and it was awesome. It's a shame they didn't release anything with him singing. I think he sounds great and is a good fit but to each their own.
This is fucking awesome reminds me if Cedric of The Mars Volta did vocals for TesseracT 🤘🏼🔥
Love it. Does anyone else thing there's a little bit of Protest the Hero in some of his singing?
I was torn when I heard everything on this song was different when Altered State came out, but both versions are amazing, and now Polaris is going to knock cocks off with Dan back ... Keep fucking our earholes boys
+Kenny Parry hahahaha
+Kenny Parry It's funny, because Polaris is not very good. It's not bad, but it's not that good either.
Polaris is my favourite Tess album ... Favourite album of the year for me!
Kenny Parry You must not listen to much music if it's your album of the year. Riverside's Love, Fear and the Time Machine, Arcane's Known/Learned, VOLA's Inmazes are all league better. Caligula's Horse's Bloom isn't even out yet either.
+Alexander - B249 You must not think that people are allowed to have opinions, I've listen to that album, every prog album that has come out this year, I like Polaris the most, next up, Coma Ecliptic, not to mention Steven Wilson! I have my opinion, you have yours. I respect that you don't like Polaris, so respect that I do.
@Just4MusicTV Nah, that's him in the Haunted Shores song. When I saw TesseracT live in November, I was amazed at how brutal Elliot's lows were.
This took a long time to grow on me, but I'm really enjoying it now. Just gutted that SEA are seemingly done.
When I hear this I can't help but be reminded of Rody from Protest the Hero.
Why is this so accurate!? I was showing this demo to a friend from work and he said that the vocalist reminded him of Axl Rose and it’s funny that Rody has taken BIG influence from glam and that era.
interesting enough, Eliot said he doesn't really like this song anyway haha. betcha didn't know that, but this "change" will be so GOOOD
@revenantdrums I completely agree with you, "One" is one of the most beautiful things I've ever listened to. Once this new album comes out, I'll sure be tuning out this singer. Dan was the man (rhyme intended).
@TrainsforGTA I just listened to Uneven Structure and they're really good!
@ArtificialFlavaFTB2 indeed! the new album is awesome!
@2playDead
I have had a few weeks to get used to him, he is really growing on me now.
Eclipse!!!!!!
50% DAN 50% ELLIOT come on guys almost all the coments in this video are about dan's departure and elliot's style. give the guys a break.
I loved the drums in this track it sounds so powerfull, jay's a fucking BEAST.
Thats where you're wrong, Abi (the vocalist before) was fucking awesome and when he left everyone was gutted, all my friends have been huge fans for years so we were all wondering who would come along, and Dan was totally different. Nobody complained, as Tesseract hadnt gotten that big then, now it's at the point where people just complain cause they hate change, not cause they care.
@kolektiv7
That is exactly what I thought when I heard this, I like it.
Can't wait for another album so I can make an accurate judgement on Elliot in Tesseract for me.
@Freezaen Look up the song Immaterial by Haunted Shores and your question shall be answered.
It's a shame that Elliot isn't a part of this band anymore, superior voice. \m/
The final title of the track got leaked out somewhere, don't know exactly how, but it happened. They played this live as part of their setlist during their September 2011 UK tour.
Dan fit the music so much better... Seeing them live today though, hopefully Elliot sounds better live.
My first thought on these vocals.... 80's Hair Metal(Kingdom Come and the like)
Think I like Dan's Vocals better. Maybe the final product will change my mind.
winning
I know this comment is a year old but I really can't ignore it, immaterial is all Elliot on vocals, even listening it's clear that it isn't the old vocalist Nick Dodd, who was also fantastic, but sounded very different.
For anyone posting comments like "Oh Dan was great but Elliot is still good" to get thumbs up, just check any live video of Elliot and after seeing his metalcore attack attack like dance tell me what you really think of him. He sounds like a guy on helium.
I don't know why but something about this song makes me think of Led Zeppelin. Especially the beginning, love it!
Kicking myself for not going to see these guys @ Northern Lights
Can this dude growl, I haven't heard much from the other bands he was in.
@dirty96imp I saw them at Northern Lights with BTBAM when they had Elliot..... Dude hits everything live. Probably has one of the best if not the best live voices I have ever heard
@Brendanlikesthis well put.
@Guitarman8832 sad, but he really does
Fucking sick
He sings really damn high!
this is the first time I have heard this guy properly and I don't think he suits Tesseract very well to me but I will adjust in time, his voice ain't harsh enough for me.
@cameronjm79 YES. I KNOW! he sounds like robert plant and like freddie mercury put together kinda!
I am not a member of Team Butthurt, therefore I love Elliot's vocals.
The point is addressed to the people who want him to be Dan, I think. You can like or dislike a singer, but if you're expecting one singer to be the other singer then you'll always be disappointed.
Oh fuck i LOVE this!!! Thank you TESSERACT You are my Oxygen on this planet \m/\m/
Fucking love both singers, I don't know why everyone is getting so butthurt
It’s a damn shame that Elliot didn’t do anything else with TesseracT :(
@rscricca YES! thank you. Problem is with all these haters is that they're too narrow minded in just metal, they don't see diversity in music.
@kolektiv7 When Cedric meets djent. I like it.
@Guitarman8832 yea, at least some people seem to be enjoying it though, would hate for them to just die out
Being a metal singer myself, I know that singing songs that were written for another singer's voice is very difficult, so for all haters out there, give Elliot a break. He's filling in where Dan left off.
I guarantee the next album will be disgustingly awesome when Elliot's style comes through.
Now, I likely have an unpopular opinion here, but actually think Elliot adds a more unique quality to the band, and I think he's just what they needed. I loved Dan's voice on one, and the song April is one of the most emotional songs I have ever heard, but his voice just isn't as weird and outlandish as Elliot's is, and I actually love it..
@TrainsforGTA dude, uneven structure is awesome xD
The melody of this demo really drives the song and Elliot's voice fit it perfectly. Ashe is great, but I think that Altered State would've turned out much more interestingly with Elliot as vocalist.
I always thought Elliot Coleman was the guy from Entourage
@TrainsforGTA guess it's bad that I like uneven structure then? although I will say Elliot sounds epic, suits him well I reckon.
Heh, It will be funny when in a year everyones gonna love his vocals. I mean, he sounds amazing on Haunted Shores and OMNOM. Fast paced and melodic. I mean it feels awkward but i can get used to it. And to all those ignorant fans, convert to Uneven Structure.
O_O THIS. EVERYONE WHO HATED ELLIOT IN TESSERACT, NEEDS TO WATCH THIS. DAMN IT. I LOVE THIS SO MUCH. Hopefully Ashe will do this well.
Love elliot, but Im glad that Ashe got a hold of this.
@CrestalMyth good to know I thought was just me. too much half stack in the ears for years has tweaked them a little. I have the same issue with a lot of inflames songs. the vocals are buried in the mix.
@edubchrist except he doesnt growl on that song! maybe one or two screams, but the growling is all the original Haunted Shores vocalist! but he does some growling on My the Man though cx
@TrainsforGTA What do you mean convert to Uneven Structure?
his vocals are brilliant, his normal voice, shit, none of them sound the same.
The Meshuggah Volta
@NoaOno If you mean aroun 1:00, I don't believe it is.
this song is ''Eclipse'' \m/
Elliot's great, he's truly unique and takes chances that other singers rarely would and it would have been interesting to see where he took Altered State. Ashe still has a beautiful voice but he plays it way safer.
what he does in this is better than what ashe has done. and this was a rough demo that he done straight away and sent to them
MAAAN! Trace would do a good job in The mars volta! SHIET!
This sounds so amazing, can't wait for the new album. Dan's vocals were absolutely flawless, his work on concealing fate is unrivalled and yeah he's probably better than Elliot, but the band has a new sound with Elliot and his vocals are still great. The music is written by the exact same people, to say that a band is now terrible because one aspect is different is incredibly simple minded.
@mebernard91 Ever heard Daniel Tompkins?
@ApplauseTheAncient More than three? I thought it was just Ryan and Spencer.
GUESS WHAT ELLIOT LEFT THE BAND TOO TROLOLOL.
I didn't like this rendition. Not because he's a bad vocalist or his lacks vocal techniques, no. Is about the design of the vocal lines together with the instrumental. You can notice that the instrumental has dynamics that his vocals doesn't fit into. It sounds detached, separated from it, not a cohesive join / integration. The phrases are too much dense, there's no room for conssonance with instrumentals, without cadence too. Again: he's an amazing singer, his tone / timbre is very good, and he has great control of glissandos / vibratos, this sort of vocal technique, but he failed to feel the song and joining it.
Mateus Leon I agree, but I would add that his tone and technique weren't a good fit for tesseract either. He's great in good tiger, but man, I only listen to the instrumental version of perspective
I know it's been 4 years, but man I completely disagree with your take. I love this rendition and hope there's a universe out there where Elliot's version was brought to completion.
@@kuroodo_ That's fair man, I bet that we are in one of infinite possibilities and Elliott is resonating with Tesseract in another one. Who knows what wait us ahead too... Cheers
@edubchrist Epic fucking win man and what a friggin' relief, Dan's growls were really so-so, so were his cleans live, but whatever. XD
i was JUST introduced to this band, so i have absolutely no bias towards either singer, and alredy coleman has proven to have the better voice. Dan voice sounded good, but id watch him live and he seemed uncomfortable, and almost forced. now i hearing he left for some pop band, yeah that makes total sense. elliot is a great fit, and best of luck to Dan, God knows hel need it
Replay Raped. Mad respect for Elliot
Yeah true. Btw i wasnt trying to be like "oh im a true fan" or any of that crap aha, tesseract/fellsilent started around where i live so i saw em loads locally over the years. but yeah i guess thats all true.
