- Join me as I escape to one of Costa Rica's best hidden beaches, Playa Carrillo, just moments away from the quaint beach town Sámara, located in the Guanacaste Province, yet still within the Nicoya district of Costa Rica.
Explore the little town of Sámara with us, check out the beautiful restaurant-lined beach and the little shops nestled into the residential neighborhoods, and experience some of the local eats! Then come with us to the incredible, less popular (for some odd reason) Playa Carrillo, where we will see the stunning bright turquoise water and feel the soft white sand between our toes!

Of these two beaches which would you prefer to visit? Playa Sámara has great access to chairs and restaurants all along the beach, where as Playa Carrillo is a bit more laid back with less bustle around it!

I have been there often. The town has a great vibe, excellent restaurants and a beautiful beach that is great for swimming because the waves aren't to big. Only drawback is there is a lot of horse poop on the beach. Make sure you spend time at Playa Carrillo
Stay around Samara 4 years ago and found it great. Heading back in October for a longer visit.

great day....i have only been to samara once in oct 2009..it was very nice there- i'm sure development has changed it a lot
Surprisingly I didn’t see many big new hotels, lots of smaller ones tucked around the neighborhood, so I suppose that’s one good thing!!
Did you bring a drone to CR? If so can you tell me the regulations for bringing one into CR? Thanks.
I bought my drone on a trip to Miami and brought it back to CR with me, I didn't have any issues or questions asked!
What beaches have access to stand-up showers. I can't swim in saltwater without rinsing!
To be very honest, this is a good question that I couldn't answer very well! I haven't seen many beaches with showers. We usually bring a good bottle or two of fresh water, it works well!
Hotel Locanda is right on the beach. Nice place
What pizza and not pickles and ice cream??
Hahah oh I’ve had my fair share of vinegary snacks and snacks ice cream too 😂
Hows the nightlife?
Unfortunately we only stayed from 7am to about 3pm, so I didn't get to experience nightlife! If I could, I would probably do dinner at the Gusto Beach restaurant, it looks like they have a lively scene in the evenings!
Gusto Beach is good. A few nice establishments on the beach and one or 2 on the main street
