Carlos really captures the soaring joy if the this song with his solos here. Not that I'd bet against him - it's just that, for the record, he nailed it.
You know, I was thinking about it just the other day, we had so many great songs that were never played on the radio, but we found them and actually had hard copy's of them to listen to repeatedly. Kids now play a song on youtube and it fades away unless they save it. We looked through old boxes, drawers, and cassette tape cases to go through, and still had them to listen to and reminisce. Funny thing about us knowing the words to more than one of a particular artists songs, it's because when we had 8-track tapes, before the new fangled cassette appeared, the 8-track had a selector with 4 selections and each of those 4 had 3-4 songs each, but you couldn't just go to the song you wanted to hear like on a cassette and even easier later on, on CD. So we had to pretty much listen to the songs to get to that most popular song, thus we got to hear other songs that we learned and liked from the band that nowadays you don't have that. They cherry pick one song and a lot of music goes undiscovered. There were some tricks with the 8-tracks, it did have fast forward on some players, and we learned that when Song X was on, then you could switch selection and land on the popular song........lol .....My rockin Old Guys and Gals will know exactly what I'm talking about.

Santana… bringing love to the world since way back. I could not believe when I saw you playing a Telecaster instead of a PRS… this song hurt the soul of this fella as much much back when it came out as it does today… over , oh geez… 40 years and million tears later…rock on Carlos, you always stir up the souls for any one still paying attention, and for that, I’m grateful. Your sound waves make the world a better place…but this piece is my favorite, as listened to as a child of divorce, then again as an adult divorcee two times over. This song makes me feel like someone , somewhere feels the same sense of abandonment I have carried since, well ….ya know, for as far as I can remember.
I loved this song from the time it came out, around 81’. The group being Santana, I always figured the singer was Hispanic, as I detected an accent. I never knew until watching the video that the guy was a white Scottish singer, or at least I don’t remember knowing this. The more I listen now the more I hear the Scottish accent. Santana always had a diverse lineup!
For me this song is not only my favorite when I was a teenager but also I consider as an inspiring song for those people who have been thru worst times in their life but are determined to be better and stronger persons.
I remember when this came out in 1981. This was at the height of Santana and their popularity was great in this era. I was in High School at the time and we listened to this song often as it was a main stay on FM radio at the time. Great times that I miss very much....
I so wish I could go back to the 80's. I was 12 when this came out. I'd give anything to go back to my Catholic middle school and do that time all over again. So many friends and family gone from that era along with my youth. I miss it and the music so much and I always think long hours on how it's all sadly never coming back. I loved my late teens serving my country, and my 20's chasing women drunk the entire 90's BUT if I could go back to 80 or 81 and have my grandparents back and my dad I'd give anything. My old friends listening to Journey or REO Speedwagon or heavy metal. We need to invent a time machine for nostalgic bummed out people like me.

Even my friends were my accusers
In my head I lost before I begun
I had a dream but it turned to dust
And what I thought was love
That must have been lust
I was living in style
When the walls fell in
And when I played my hand
I looked like a joker
Turn around fate must have woke her
'Cause lady luck she was waiting outside the door

Too bad it belonged to me
It was the wrong time and not meant to be
It took a long time and I'm new born now
I can see the day that I bleed for
If it's agreed that there's a need
To play the game and to win again

One of the cleanest sounding live recording of a single I’ve eve heard. Such an underrated band in my opinion. They rock it with the best of them.
Gracias a dios crecí escuchando ésta música, afinó muy bien mis oídos para saber apreciar la buena música.
If you rose from the dead today, you’re definitely winning. Happy Easter!
I sure do - Carlos playing a transcendent solo with a paper football - absolute magic and one of my all time favorites!!!
Holy hell....I never realized it
Yeah..have this cassette!! Love it!! Lot of ole memories!
It is easy to become mesmerized watching Carlos play the guitar.
This song makes me stay sober.
I just found this song recently. Now, I can't get enough of it. Love it!

The best Latin rock music that ever played in this planet
Just a fabulous turn it up kinda song. As someone here said, MASTERPIECE.
I couldn't hear this song enough on the radio growing up.
Damn, man... takes me back. Fukn awesome. Carlos sure kept it together after Greg and Neil left the band. 👍
