I love how thesis is so calm and relaxed now. He's definitely evolved, as if he wasn't an amazing bboy/artist already. He goes and leaves the beast mode level in his back pocket until he needs it (as seen in this battle) and cruises like I've never seen him. Big ups to Thesis, dude is forever evolving.

wow! Thesis handled this one so smart. He was focusing on musicality and he had that relaxed body with his confidence that shikegix didn't have. By that, he almost single handedly owned the battle. After seeing shikegixs tired third set Thesis knew he was the winner ending his set really short but with energy.

Reminded me of the Benji vs Crumbs battle. One can dance and the other has tricks. Dancing wins.
Love thesis, represents the knuckleheads perfectly, has battle attitude but at the end of the day is still respectful to the dancer and the artform. The gestures such as going up to shigekix just shows that he respects him and is basically saying “you got skills kid”. Been a fan for a long time, and will continue supporting. Also, shigekix has incredible potential and rocking the stage with dance with boost him to a whole other level.
Shigekix is young, and yet to develop a style. He's great at executing difficult powermoves (perhaps even the best), but lacks the originality and flow of Thesis. That being said Shigekix is still young and will hopefully develop his moves over time. Lots of potential in this boy.

Thesis pretty much battled a Japanese version of himself back in his heyday. Dope battle from both artist and the judging was on point. Big up's to U.S.A. making B-Boys great again

I really love that he is way more in touch with his musicality side, but I miss when he had beautiful power... Nice high flares, halos/shoulder halos, airflare transitions, tombs/babymills, airchair hops, etc. Watch ibe 2009 circle prinz video and you'll see what I mean
I always assumed he got injured at some point and a lot of his "new style" came from having to find new ways to flow.

I could be totally wrong here but my observation is that in 2009 he was still in his teens and had a smaller, lighter frame that made it easier for power and muscle endurance. And wow, did he have crazy stamina back then! As he grew older he became stockier and taller, I think affecting his agility. But injuries as mentioned above also would be a good explanation. In any case, I think it's a credit to him that his style has evolved so much and he's always expanding his repertoire.

Actually, I've heard some more personally stuff about him, not the injuries, could be a thing but also other parts about him, girlfriend, drinking too much etc. Don't wanna assume everything but this could also be a thing

Thesis has more of his soul integrated and quite centered. Shigekix is amazing but off his center, more on the fire, push side, over masculine energy side, if he integrates his more feminine, calmer side, and use both feminine and masculine energies like Thesis can he will reach his next level.

Thesis won this battle hands down. But I don't exactly see how the judging system works here. I'm pretty sure shigekix had better Dynamics in the last round at least. Wouldn't make much difference anyway. But they gotta do justice to the OUR system. The judges are definitely better bboys than i am so i guess they saw something else that we couldn't see online.
zeeshan sajid Aside from “power” being in the dynamics category, variations of being dynamic. Just imagine if you can only win by one category. Doing separate variation of halos and air chairs, would that best Thesis’ moves?
I'm not talking about all the rounds here. Take for instance the very last round. Thesis had a short round which apart from that insane thread had variations of coin drops. Very strong round and all in all a better and stronger round than shigekix easily.
But if you omit out every other aspect and just consider the Dynamics, I think shigekix edged him out purely based on the substance and his packed round. It's just the third round I'm talking about here.
I completely agree thesis blew shigekix away here, all I'm questioning is the judging system being used to it's full extent. It is almost equivalent to just the regular pointing at the winner like any other cypher.
You need to watch the full event. Shegekix could've been repeating moves from other rounds in his final round.

Long time Bboy fan. Shigekix had less musicality then he usually has. Thesis won, but it wasn't by too much. Thesis rounds were very short. Judges are not very good at judging, but I do agree Thesis still took it. Also what a terrible crowd.

@martini that’s what you call combos. He freestyles his combos and sets as a dance. Choreographed moves become bland if you don’t freestyle it to the beat; in thesis case, he executes his with texture and context of the music.

Thesis is overated, but it is what it is. High level Bboying is not judged based on skill, but on respect with seniority. One day somebody will be complaining that Shigekix is overated, winning rounds with short sets and do nothing moves.

The system of judging it's a mess, and they choose the winner by favoritism, when your are a judge you must be impartial.
