    Finally!! I was looking for someone to do the welt pocket this method because most videos I see are this new “hack” way where they just fold up the pocket bag instead of sewing a separate welt piece onto the pocket bag. Thank you so much!

    Hi, Karina. Thanks for the great tutorial. I believe that on your Janome machine, the target-like button next to the needle up/down button will stitch in place for about 5 stitches. That can be done at start and stop places, and you don't have to worry about tying off the threads because they are already reinforced. You might try it and see if it is a help to you. I really like using mine.

  • @SewNaturalDane
    @SewNaturalDane Před 5 lety +3

    WOW Karina, yes this was GREAT and you make it look really easy. It's probably just me, but I can totally see a jacket with different colored welts, I think the combination you have in this video just as a sample would look cool with a pair of jeans actually. I have some shorts coming up for the husband and I think it calls for welts, but can't remember if it's double or single. Great video!

    • @LiftingPinsandNeedles
      @LiftingPinsandNeedles  Před 5 lety +1

      I sort of can see the fun in the contrast color pockets too. I’m just too silly for not making welts in such a long time. It’s not that bad at all.

  • @AlliciaB
    @AlliciaB Před 5 lety +2

    This video is right on time. I just made a vest, and I want to add a welt pocket to the front. I do have a question. Since I am modifying a pattern that does not have a drafted place for a welt pocket, do you have a suggestion? Is there a formula or a rule in terms as to where to place a welt pocket? Thank you.

    • @LiftingPinsandNeedles
      @LiftingPinsandNeedles  Před 5 lety +1

      Where to place is all up to you. For reference, the rectangle here is 4 3/8” by 6/8”. You just need your pocket pattern pieces to be wider 5 3/8” and then as long as you need. The welt needs to be 5 3/8” by 1 6/8”

    It would be nice to have some sample dimensions. Like width ratios for welt and pockets pieces , etc.

    • @LiftingPinsandNeedles
      @LiftingPinsandNeedles  Před 5 měsíci

      I really can’t do that because that would vary depending on the size you are sewing. Also, I’m not happy to share specific dimensions of already made patterns.

    • @LiftingPinsandNeedles

      Hand sewing is how everything was done before machines. Sure. It would take ages and your sewing would need to be accurate. I’d prefer a machine.

    Karina, don't get rid of your mums shears. You should get them sharpened by a professional. They are good metal ones.

    • @LiftingPinsandNeedles
      @LiftingPinsandNeedles  Před 4 lety +1

      Don’t worry, I won’t get rid of them. I need to find a place to get them sharpened but haven’t found it yet. I have a tape measure of hers since 1978 :)
      They are keepsakes.
