Zara is fast fashion, that is terrible, never buy fast fashion!
Couldn’t agree more with “just because it’s expensive, doesn’t mean it’s good. Try to imagine it in a cheaper store and ask yourself if you would buy it.” My thoughts exactly! Love how classy and practical you are. 😁
I would partially agree, though with age I tend to buy middle segment more than mass market - the quality is better than in cheaper items.
@@user-im3os5xf8i ofcourse
I live in colorado and love my cowboy boots
Having said that, most of the clothes that Lydia has, and I love, are out of my price range. I don’t have £400-£600 for a dress and definitely don’t have £1500 for a handbag.
@@inspiredbydesigninthecityo2537 I lived in Tucson and Phoenix for many years and I’m now back in England. I’m not ditching my cowboy boots for anyone!
Agreed with everything other than bold color! I think if done correctly, bold (especially jewel toned) colors can look classy yet fun. A bold richer colored pant with a white (or black) shirt can look chic. Let us not be afraid of color!
Agree totally. But you must understand what the undertones in your skin are so you don't clash with them. I can''t wear orange for instance. It looks hideous on me.
Absolutely! Classic doesn’t only mean neutrals and zero individuality. A well made item in a nice fabric can look amazing and fun.
Same, im so happy then trend appeared, i love love to use bold colours but usually dress all neutrals, black and white because There wasnt any nice outfits in those and now you can find plenty, las summer i never wore black 😂
I wear neutrals for work mostly, but love, love, love colour, my out of work wardrobe is very colourful, I do wear shades that suit my colouring
I agree with you! Trendy styles are short lived, while classic pieces are more elegant and chic!!
Absolutely! Classic doesn’t only mean neutrals and zero individuality. A well made item in a nice fabric can look amazing and fun.
So refreshing to hear a fashion influencer not go along with all these trends. I agree with everything that you said about them!
I’m glad you’re not afraid to have an opinion Lydia!👍
I really like brights like hot pink or chartreuse, especially when they are mixed with a neutral like olive or tan/beige, plus these colors look great on my skintone. i do appreciate how you showed how to make the trends more wearable for everyday.
I never thought of pairing the chartreuse with olive thank you!
Cowboy boots are an iconic and quintessentially American staple (picture James Dean in the movie GIANT) for fashion and workwear especially in the western and southern states of the country. I can understand why you can’t relate to them because you need a certain attitude and grit to pull them off authentically otherwise it just comes off as a costume. Yes…cowboy boots just like a great pair of Levi’s are 100% American and a total state of mind and worn with heart!
Agreed! But this proud Texan (and current Phoenician), would be thrilled to share her culture with everyone, especially Lydia, who would look stunning in gorgeous pair of cowboy boots and flowing dress!
Yes 🙌
And of course she is English, not American.
We love them in Ireland 🍀🍀🍀🍀
Maybe I would wear them with a fluffy skirt if I were going honky tonking- on vacation in the south.
A LOT of this depends on your body type and coloring. The way you dress works great for a rectangle. But I’ve always wrestled with my curves - no matter my weight. Curves are always what you see first in me even when I was severely underweight. I also NEED color or else I completely disappear. So bright pink and even lime green work for me. Basics/classics are good, but they really need some added spice or they just won’t work for me.
Also, I just can’t break up my line much with color blocks or I look much heavier than I am.
Not everyone looks good in the same things.
This is due to the different bodytypes. I think Lydia is a Natural, I am a true Classic and it seems to me - according to your description - that you are a Romantic bodytype. This is the base from where you start looking for clothes (in combination with a colour analysis).
Lydia as a Natural needs flowy lines, she can get away with silk and other light fabrics very very well. I, in contrast, need constructed, clear lines, fitted clothes like most ppl in the office do. I like high quality cotton, for example. That is the essence of a Classic.
Romantics should emphasize their curves, no matter at what weight they are (this goes for all types), and look for cap sleeves, ruffles, clear but soft lines, smock details. I imagine that you may look good in pastel colours. Viscose dresses could also look good on you, its a flowy fabric but mostly thicker than silk. Avoid boxy shirts and oversized tops.
As a 4th generation Oklahoman who has several pair of cowboy boots and everyone I know has cowboy boots I have to agree with you as them as a trend. They are hard to fit and hard to style and can be unflattering if not done correctly. They can also look cheap unless you get real deal leather boots from a heritage brand and that’s an investment for people who wear western style clothes on a regular basis not for trends. I love your style and how you teach people. Thank you for what you do!!
Yes, cheap cowboy boots stand out in a bad way.
I love good leather cowboy boots with a maxi dress or skirt in the winter
agree with you! Trendy styles are short lived, while classic pieces are more elegant and chic!!
❤ I agree with you! Trendy styles are short lived, while classic pieces are more elegant and chic!!
I agree with all your opinions with one exception. I think a bright pink can be beautiful in summer. I hope you still wear that darling pink dress with the puffed sleeves you had last year? We do need a little joy and whimsy in our dressing.
Yes agreed! I do also love certain shades of pink in summer but in my head there is one specific tone that was huge last year, and that’s what I’m referring to! ❤
I quite like a blue based fuschia pink but NOT with black. I have a statement pink skirt that I wear with a grey or white simple T. I think it works
@@saramathews1069 agreed! Not with black! Pink and grey is a really nice combo! 👌🏼
Thank you for telling your opinion in this way. I feel a lot of people nowadays forgot or never learned to express their views in a way that‘s not comdescending or even hateful. You‘re a great example for them and I love your style!
Exactly ! Lydia is elegant inside out !
But she repeatedly says the words "looks cheap". I mean, that's pretty close to being insulting. I don't know why people feel the need to glorify a channel person. This one is very good looking, but she is quite young and doesn't know much about life is my guess. I'd much rather someone who has some lived experience and is unafraid to take risks. Being scared of making a mistake is not really exploration is it? Plus she makes pronouncements based on what suits her. She's on the shorter side, and I wouldn't wear what she does. It works for her. But that doens't make it universal truth.
I mean, calling other people's trend and style choices cheap and tacky isn't what I'd call 'not condescending', especially from a woman who subscribes to the idea of classiness. There's something very rotten about assigning value to a piece of clothing based on how rich or poor you look like.
@@deborahcurtis1385 To be honest, if I'm being mean, I can't really call her 'classy' or stylish, either. Her is a style that just about every 'timeless and classic, look wealthy' youtuber is peddling, it's like an uniform, and I don't know a single rich woman who dresses like that. They're wealthy, they can allow eccentric style choices because they don't have to desperately prove their social and economic status.
@@Killjoy_Mel Exactly! Plus the uber wealthy don't want people around them being so planned and self conscious. They want to see real personality and to know the real people. Fakery and fawning leaves them cold. Anyone so calculated will have the others being suspicious and bored in equal measure.
It’s not just the clothes! It’s also how you carry yourself!
I think sheer tops or items with sheer sleeves as a layering piece can look gorgeous. Sheer has been around for years and years. I had gorgeous lime green flares in the late 70s as a young girl. Cowboy boots are far from a trend and can look great and are often functional footwear. I think fashion varies from country to country. I could never wear head to toe stripes. They look a little too much like PJs to me.
I agree totally. also bear in mind the physical type: if you're athletic then a more pared down look works really well. But if you're taller and more rangy, that won't work, it will simply emphasise the deficiency. So that kind of person can wear more dramatic looks without being a slave to fashion. It's essential to understand your fashion type and work it. IMO.
I personally would never wear double stripes I would feel like a circus person on stilts. Also I find this style of dressing rather too conservative and generic. It suits a lot of people but not me. I have elements of the classic in my wardrobe but I love lifting it with some interesting features or styles. You can indeed rewear a tie dyed look but you must get it in proportion and not wear something cheap quality that loses vibrancy with washing.
This is a very 'safe' style of dressing that's looking to be reliable and consistent. That's fine and while it's important to master those looks it can become a bit too quiet and understated.
I’m from Texas. I was so amused by your comments regarding cowboy boots. What’s silly are designer cowboy boots by those who don’t know what they are doing! Isabel Marant boots?🤣😂. My Italian immigrant grandparents were in the boot and shoe/ leather goods business. I wear Lucchese. My husband wears Rio Mercedes. We wear them to the rodeo ( such as the largest in the world, the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo), the ranch and other events. My Luccheses that I have now are dark brown, comfortable and versatile. I don’t wear them when not appropriate. Bless your heart!
The Isabel Marants are totally horrendous, completely agree! Even though I hate cowboy boots to begin with, but I wouldn't even calls hers that.
From West Texas here 🤠 I love my Old Gringo boots that are a bit dressy when that’s what I’m going for. But I would LOVE a good Lucchese pair.
@@robertbredemeyer6084 Old Gringo are great! I guess you know what barrel racing is if you’re from West Texas! We raised Arabians and I was a barrel racer!
@@amazingautumn12 Generally correct. Did I say versatile? Glad you agree with me. In the proper setting, I believe they can be beautiful and stylish. Don’t recommend expensive designer boots from a French fashion house, for example, but well made ones that are beautiful can be purchased for less. In Texas, young girls wear them to football games often with dresses in school colors or tucked into jeans. My college days are long gone, but many of Lydia’s followers are young women, some just a few years out of University. 😊
Texan checking in! Real boots - Lucchese, Ariat, etc. They look good, are practical, mold to your feet, and protective. No offense to her, but she’s wearing an oversized 80s financier men’s shirt with poor posture while opining on imitation cowboy boots. I take her opinion with a grain of salt.
I agree. I don't follow trends. I look for clothes that can be worn over and over again. I love your style. I have a shirt like yours but mine is green and white by Ralph Lauren. I love all of your videos. Your style is unique and different. And I like how you pair everything together. Just beautiful. Sending you, Lydia and everyone here love, light and good deeds. Thank you for sharing!!
Lydia, you nailed it 100% with all the no-go trends. I feel the same about every single one of them. It really feels like such a waste of fabric, and only adds to Earth pollution. On the other hand, all the go-to trends you mentioned are classics you can re-wear anytime, depending on your style.
Amen Lydia! Cheap, tacky and unflattering comes at many price points.
I think liking or not liking cowboy boots may have something to do with where you live. In the western US they are worn all the time and are not a trend. So having everyone wearing them is fun! In England they are a trend and look out of place
I'm from the Midwest and we love them here. It's about heart for me. Also, the 80’s were influential everywhere and that “do you” spirit is coming back. Allow everyone to do them. I remember when Grunge was for a certain group, then all colors started “doing them” with it...
And, that's appropriate because of the culture. In the Northeast, it's generally a "no"... unless it's purely for fashion. That often translates as a bit costume-y.
One great example of an English woman embracing western boots is the youtuber Karenbritchick.
She’s from London but living in NY now and she loves both Dr Martens and western boots, The best of both worlds I guess
@@carlarusso8626 didn't Princess Di wear cowgirl boots in London along with Ralph Lauren? She’s considered an icon for me and the world, because she did her.
@@carlarusso8626 Karenbritchick is amazing.
Thanks a lot for inspiring videos! I’m 52 and I don’t have a young and slim figure, but still I find a lot of your tips and outfit combinations helpful! The principles of balancing an outfit applies to everbody! Subscribed!
Lydia you are so predictable sometimes, I feel I know what you are going to say before you say it. Please through some causing to the wind and wear a bright pink top for once. I feel this time you have really burnt your bridges with your list of dislikes. I do love your fashion but just feel you have gone too far with your hate list.
@@lornasimpson6518 😉 You're taking this far too personally, my dear. It's just her POV from a stylist who simply prefers more minimalistic, classic pieces.
Her predictability in this regard is wholly warranted & highly valued. The trends she disliked simply don't fit her lifestyle or world🌍. It's not an insult. Brush it off...
The beautiful Lydia is 💯% old money aesthetic. She's a more formal, aristocratic 🇬🇧 version of the 🐚Coastal Grandmother vibe (aka Martha's Vineyard, Hamptons, East Coast). Picture posh prep schools. Conservative style. Silver spoons. An elite lifestyle, long standing pedigree, & trust funds.
I certainly don't hate or envy Lydia's obvious advantages. Love her style, consistency, & advice〰️but I don't aspire to be her clone. Will take from her what works for me & leave the rest behind.
Afterall, I'm a redneck from 😎LA on the opposite end of the socio-economic scale. Come from strong blue-collar stock based in the Valley (not from the West side or Beverly Hills).
While I lean classic & minimal overall, I never could fully emulate her style sensibility. I realized long ago that she's way outta my fashion league ⚾️.
Having grown up in the aura of 🎬Hollywood, I am tempted by a bit of bougie bling & glamour💎. Animal print 🐆 always struck me as rather gaudy & nouveau riche, but I adore it. Here for some bold Barbie & bubblegum pinks. Although this is not a realm I ever fully immerse myself in.
I'm closer to white trash 🗑 . Cracked up when she disparaged 🪖camo & cargo in one breath when I recently bought a pair of bermuda shorts in that same pattern & style😳. Of course, they're strictly for hiking around my neighborhood vs polite society.
Seriously, tan & green khaki has major military & utility quality that's perfect for desert 🏜 climes. Cargo style, even in maxi skirt versions, are quite popular in our streetwear style history👍.
As Americana & working class as denim, 👖jeans are simply too structured & miserable for me in our hot☀️ climate🌡. ✂️Wore daisy dukes & ankle 🤠 cowboy booties back in the 90s for authentic 🎶 boot scootin', two-steppin', waltzing, etc. Even mucked out stables growing up to be able to go 🐎 Western horse back riding in our surrounding hills.
I always preferred denim shorts & low booties. Although cowboy booties are also super with swishy skirts for being romantically sashayed🎶 about the dance floor by a 💪brawny man.
Tie dye has certainly had it's moments in the spotlight here, but it never really appealed to me.

I am same age and feel the same!
The problem with sheer - especially dresses - is the same as the problem with loud flowers. You wear them once, you cannot wear them more, it's so "obvious". I loved your advice about trying to imagine a piece in a cheaper version and ask ourselves if we would buy it. I think it could actually work!
Oh? You can't? That's a mindset problem. People don't think worse of you when you wear the same loud dress every now and then. In my experience, such statement pieces tend to become spectators' favourites. I love wearing my more obvious pieces every now and then, because nobody thinks you're classy and expensive when wearing a striped shirt, a skinny belt and white pants. They might think you're fun though, if you show up in loud florals.
As someone who trains horses and wears functional western boots at work, I usually try to avoid trendy fashion cowboy boots that seem like a cheap version of the real thing when I dress myself outside of work. There are variations in style worn in different disciplines of western sports, but square toe boots have been stylish for the past 15 years. I know everybody's caricature of western is a pointy toe, but that is extremely outdated as far as authentic culture is concerned, and I think the general public could use some more modern inspiration. I think that the square toe shoe trend is a classier way to evoke western culture without going overboard. You can style a pair of square toe high heeled boots in tons of different ways that don't necessarily have to come off as western, but you still have the option to lean into it.
Of course, Lydia is British and dresses very "posh," so she doesn't understand just how much of a classic cowboy boots are here in the US. My gf got a pair of amazing cowgirl boots at a farm supply store last summer, in a warm medium brown leather with some icy aqua leather accents, and I just go crazy when she wears them with classic jeans and a simple top! 🤎💙
I agree 100% regarding the square toe. We spot the fashionistas when we notice the pointy toe because it is so outdated. I feel like the classic cowboy boot has its place, for sure, and it's mostly in farming and ranch communities. As a fashion element it still definitely has its place in the appropriate climate/terrain.
Same, girl! Also the same for the English riding boot trend. As something that I wear as an equestrian I’m always like 😳
Square toe isn't flattering on petite women. There is something for everyone and that's is why we shouldn't just blindly follow how things should be.
@@xnellyxs1 I'm just offering an alternative idea for people who want an alternative. You don't have to listen to me or agree with my perspective, it's definitely not a relatable perspective for the majority of people who enjoy fashion (which is why I chose to offer it up for others to consider). You can wear what you want and I'm sure you look great in whatever you decide fits your personal style.
I don t like striped total look it seems like a pyjama. But i really like wide legs striped trousers alone.
omg! Cowboy boots are amazing! Daisy Jones and the Six style is to die for x 😂😊😊
I totally agree with you ! Classic, minimal is timeless and always elevates the look. Thank you for being candid and real. Love your channel.
Lydia, you have become my number one favourite style influence, I try to fashion all of my outfits after your fashion tips now, such great advice and amazing chic style!
I really like this video. I agree with ALL except the bright pink. I think a pop of color really helps in ALL seasons.
Lydia, I love vintage cowboy boots in people that identify with them. Otherwise, I agree they can look gimmicky. But when the vibe is genuine, it’s fab. Go West (Montana) and you’ll begin to appreciate mountain chic. There is more to fashion than big city fashion.
Yes in Australia we have RM Williams boots or Blunstones. They get worn with dresses to be more edgy and less predictable. I think it looks fine but it's not a London look.
@@deborahcurtis1385 I find the London look kind of prudish. Then, I remind myself, that the Beatles came from there.
I totally agree with your take on trends and I find your videos refreshing. Thank you and great job! 🙂
As you said, it depends on your taste. I like a mix of styles, classic and minimal is nice, but it's fun to add colour, patterns and different textures. As for cowboy boots, I like them, more so the less fast fashion ones, but authentic western boots are fab
Yes! I’m with you on mixing the styles. Cowboy boots like the Sendra Boots from Spain, those are my all time favorites and I only buy from this brand. They are timeless and of excellent quality.👌🏾 The newer ones, not so much.
@@MrsVanB thanks I'll check them out
I feel the same about most of these, however being somewhat older than you I am having some fun embracing some of the 90’s throwbacks I am seeing. Loving the cargos, bought a bright lime green and white striped button down because it reminded me of an Espirit shirt I had in the 90’s. ❤️
Cowboy boots look great with jeans and your horse 🐴. Plus great to wear to the country fair. 😊.
And they are necessary when riding, so if thrown, your foot doesn't get caught in the stirrup.
@@susanyakus7364 Yes cowboy boots do have a practical side, and they tend to be really comfortable.
Great video! I appreciate your comments (and taste!), especially regarding avoiding trendiness and instead leaning in toward timeless classics. The idea of buying the Zara flower choker is an excellent way to infuse a little newness into one’s wardrobe without wasting money and looking ridiculous.
Cowboy boots are classic, it depends where you live too and the life style. They can look nice with a short summer dress, maxi too
I have seen many denim on denim outfits from influencers, and your version is the best I've seen. One I would actually wear I love your shirt as well. Very chic. I am still looking for the perfect Chanel style jacket. It needs to have silver buttons and those are not easy to find.
100% agree except on the cowboy boots. Cowboy boots CAN be done right, but I’d also say setting does kinda matter. That’s coming from a native Texan so take it for what it’s worth☺️
It's a bit like the English wearing their "Wellies". I think they are an ugly boot, but they really serve a purpose. I think if she lived in the States, she would see the value in cowboy boots.
Been watching you since 2018 and this is my first post. Have always felt connected with your taste and this video for me confirms that I was correct and comfortable with your style. You have a great eye and excellent innate classic taste but not boring. You help me so much with my pulling together of already existing items in my closet and a few “gotta have it” new pieces! Thanks for all your research and helpful tips!
I agree. Over the years of watching Lydia I have only been buying classy neutral clothes that all mix and match. It’s a joy to get dressed in the morning. I love double denim and striped shirts too and I hate cowboy boots, even if they’re designer they look cheap. I love Lydia’s style so much.
It was so refreshing to see an opinion video where the woman making it wasn’t apologizing every couple minutes for her opinion! Very well done! Like Lydia said, fashion is about taste and it was very entertaining and enjoyable to watch whether I agreed with each opinion or not!
Lidia, I've learned a lot from your sense of style which is right on almost always for me. The classics have always been my personal style with occasionally adding a trend item. It's your explanations and demonstrations as to why something will or won't work that makes me think, "Oh, that's really true" Thanks so much. Keep 'um coming. ❤😊
I appreciate your honesty in today's fashion.
You're so right about personal choice and different opinions, but I'm with you on your take of all these trends. You've helped me develop a simple, classic style that makes getting dressed so much easier now. 😊
I love the sheer trend if done in small increments and not the whole outfit. Cowboy boots for me never goes out of style when worn with airy dresses. I would love to see you do videos where you challenge yourself and sprinkle these trends to your preferred style and make it work ❤
Now that is a great idea!
Agreed, sheer is lovely in small doses!!! Classic for me. Especially in cute tops.
Lydia out of her comfort zone but making it work is a fabulous idea. I like a cowboy boot if it’s more Isabel Marant rather than cowboy rodeo if that makes sense
Sheer can be great for layering too
I second that. Good idea.
I really liked your idea about thinking of how you'd feel about a trendy piece if you saw it at a cheap market. This is a great way of testing our attraction to a trend and the decision to invest. I can also see how you wouldn't be attracted to cowboy or Western boots as your style does not generally incorporate a lot of contrasting elements in the one outfit which for your style really works. Similarly, I think for people with a more eclectic style that like a high contrast in styles, Western boots would really work I.e. floaty dresses with Western boots. Carla Rockmore has an amazing way with Western style boots. That being said, I have a pair of Western boots that I have probably only worn once or twice and my style is generally very close to yours with a bit more of an eclectic element (I am about 30 years older). However, I am going to try and challenge myself to wear the boots this winter (I'm in Australia) as they are a really comfortable pair.
I agree that cowboy boots with a prairie style floral dress and long, flowing hair can look great in a boho or outdoor concert sort of way.
You are just a treat to watch. So classy, sweet, knowledge, interesting, helpful and kind! I am so glad for your content and beautiful self - inside and ou.
Your style is so classy and timeless. Thank you for sharing😍😍❤️❤️
Love your style. I appreciate these types of videos because this isn't about us agreeing but more about looking at influencers and seeing what they like and don't like and understanding how that person's style works to better understand how ours works or doesn't. My biggest issue is loving so many styles. Yes, I have dislikes but sometimes I'll be OK with a certain piece from my dislikes so I get really confused on what to buy lol I'm just rambling now. Thank you!!
Hello Lydia! Love your content and agree with you on all except one: cowgirl boots. As a native from Texas, cowgirl boots are part of my identity, and I honestly feel I could never part with them ❤. While they are having a spotlight moment, and some may look borderline tacky, I stick to classy styles and boots of one color so they are easier to style with multiple outfits. My husband took me to see George Straight for our anniversary last year and I felt pretty chic rocking my beautiful cowgirl boots 🤗. (I shared a picture 😉)
Yes for example I absolutely detest ballet flats. They should only be worn by ballerinas on stage. Of course my opinion only.
Cowboy boots are more American for sure !
💯 💯 🤠
Agreed! I agree with you (Lydia) on almost EVERYTHING EXCEPT I LOVE my Cowboy boots- I'm a SoCAL Beach girl with about 22 (good) pair & ALWAYS get compliments. Ballet Flats are the One 'NEVER' for me... EVEN if they're CHANEL! (I should add that I own a horse ranch in KY)
I’m glad you’re not afraid to have an opinion Lydia!👍😍😍😍😍
I love all your content as always. I do try to be mindful of naming something as “tacky” or “ruining outfits” and instead acknowledge it is not classic or timeless without making it “bad.” I think it is just good practice to be inclusive and respectful, perhaps especially when it is not what we prefer or like.
It's cheap looking is pretty insulting. Just accept that people have differences of opinion and this constant need to be polite is exhausting. She isn't as polite as you imagine. Cheap is an insult but she's just being honest. And I agree with a lot of what she says, but equally you have to take a few risks in life or you won't have much fun. JIMO
No, some things are absolutely tacky and ratchet looking.
@@melocoton7
Unfortunately you totally missed my point.
My point is it's NOT necessary to be ultra polite and inclusive, you can have an opinion, even a robust one. That is my underlying point.
There is a kind of mania to characterising females in particular, as virtuous because they're being anodyne, to me it's hardly complimentary, but in this case it's inaccurate. As I point out. She did in fact call someone cheap looking. I think this is justified.
It's wrong to pretend it's not a strong criticism because it is. Why do we all have to be total fans of a channel? Or in slavish devotion to everything they say or do?
I agree with some things and disagree on others. In this case I agree with her. but I disagree she's being inclusive in saying it because clearly she is not.
I'd go further and say that all too often women in particular make it a point of not being contentious, therefore missing out on the possibilities of having animated discussion.
Not taking things personally, and not making personal attacks is the key thing. Be as vivid as you like with your opinions, I think there's not enough of it, but make them well thought out and witty if possible.
As for the point you do make, I completely agree. What a shame you have to disguise your descriptive term with a euphemism. Rat sh!t looking it is!
Howdy!
You need to visit Texas! To see how they are successfully and elegantly styled🤠
Cowboy boots 🤠
Lydia, another great vid here! You have helped me so much and I have bought many things you suggested.
And can I say I’m so glad you switched from saying “ at the minute” to “ at the MOMENT “! I think the correct expression is really using the word moment, sounds better and thank you!
I really enjoyed this video. It's a very sensible view on the trends we have nowadays. Thank you.
I love cowboy boots! I’m from Texas and it’s a staple footwear here. 😊
I can’t imagine going to the Houston Livestock and Rodeo and not have western boots on. When in Rome…….
You can wear a sheer dress on top of an outfit. Trinny Woodall did a great video on this for a winter party in 2022. It's styled ridiculously on the high street but it can look elegant and stylish.
Your style is so classy and timeless. Thank you for sharing and teaching me.
In the world of fashion full of surprises, trends and the flow of videos/information we struggle to choose the best formula for us. You are the person who makes our lives easier in front of the wardrobes and mirrors . ❤🎉 Thank you Lydia for your work, effort and determination ❤
I am with you on these fashion views! 👍
Thank you for your very classy and chic styling videos!
Thank you so much ❤
@@LydiaJaneTomlinson cool white pants I have a suggestion for you
When you say "if you don't like the look" it shifts my perspective in such a positive way❤. Slightly different feeling of not having the urge to buy everything ❤
On board with everything bar the Western boots.
I have a pair of my mothers, handmade for her in Texas 40 years ago, which I’ve never needed to have resoled, despite regular wear (I pair them with lightweight, festival-style dresses, and love them so much).
I tend to stay away from trends for the most part, but when something aligns with my personal style, and will get years of wear, I have no issue adding it to my wardrobe.
You are so right about personal opinions and choices, very much so. I agree with all your opinions on these trends particularly cowboy boots, sheer, tie dye!😁but hey, whatever makes you happy in the long run! Absolutely luv your style, channel/content, eternally classic, versatile style💫👌🏾Thank you 😊
I LOVE my cowboy boots.... they make me feel like a baddie. I have those flame zara boots haha and they are amazing
I agree, an accessory is the way to go. The flower can be attached on different garments.
You make the BEST videos !!! Agreeing with everything ! 🙌🏻
I hate the cowboy boots. Never had them and never will
I love tie dye, and will continue. Loved/love Ralph Lauren’s Cashmere sweater ones and seasonal joggers, sweaters, etc. J-Lo rocked it. Also, love cowgirl boots..I’ve been incorporating these for over a decade. I like Stella’s take. It’s “me.” The flower thing has many variations that Carrie Bradshaw also individualized.
Yeah that’s the thing there’s trends and there’s style. When I watch those street style videos, the people with the best outfits were the ones that have pushed the boundaries in their styling. The ‘classic’ style is a trend in itself with the 80s/90s influence of the oversized blazers and suit dressing, Wall Street, old money aesthetic. People weren’t really wearing this trend/style 10years ago. Yes trench coats, stripe Breton, wide leg trousers were all worn 10yrs ago but the styling and the trends that went with it were different, like everything was worn with skinny jeans etc
It interesting to hear peoples like and dislikes of fashion and I guess that’s what makes it fun 💕
@@geekygirl01Well said.
I feel like trend reactions are very subjective, this content creator is usually very minimal and chic I don’t think she would go for a punk, festival or street style aesthetic.
I agree that many of these items could be worn depending on styling, how you want to represent yourself, the article you select, and what occasion you are attending,
I love your simple looks that are accessible and are my style.
I am watching!!!!!! You were amazing and so kind and so lovely and generous. I fan girled the rest of the day and my kids
Okay, Lydia...
Being from Texas, cowboy boots are not a trend they are a staple much like "wellies" are to your area.
Luv your videos!
Fabulous video. Agree with the dislikes, totally agree with all the timeless pieces you are showing. Most of all love the pinstripe shirt with contrast cuffs and collar. Thank you Lydia and wishing you as always the upper most success. Looking forward to your next video….👏👏👏💝
Thank you, gorgeous!!!!!I love your content, your style is minimalistic and authentic
I love this content. Thank you Lydia!
Hello
I agree with most of it but not for sheer. A nice silk top with some sheer can be very feminine.
Although my taste in clothes is pretty different, your tips have really helped me make outfits look more intentional and balanced. It makes me feel like a grown-up when I leave the house lol, so thank you!
Your style is amazing and I totally agree with you on the new trends.
I LOVE COWBOY BOOTS!!! You’ll never convince me otherwise 😂 Cowboy boots are forever. I think they are eternally cool and will stand the rest of time. Taste is subjective and trends aren’t for everyone. That I agree with but style is personal. I’ll never be a “neutrals only” woman. Give me all the color! People should experiment and find what works for them. I hate maxi skirts and they should’ve stayed in 2001 😂
It's not a look for London but cowboy boots are classic in some parts of the US.
🙌🏽
@@deborahcurtis1385 in London, they wear Wellies. Not a particularly good look, but useful.
🎉❤truly enjoyed the contrast between the fad type trend and the timeless updated trend for Spring 2023
I love how frank you're being! Gives me confidence that not all trends look good. Had to laugh as I had an UGG advert pop up with bright pink tie die. It's everything you described 😂
I just found your channel today and couldn't be more excited. I already watched to many.
I just saw your shorts, and I immediately fell in love with your style.
The style I love with to many smart ideas.
Style, no fashion! That's my life.
In addition, your personality is charming.
I subscribed immediately, and I shared your channel with my sister. I know she will love you too.
Thanks!🩷
The rose one is what Nicole Kidman wore to the Oscars this year so guaranteed it will definitely be in vogue this year. And stylish meams something different to everyone. To me, it means being able to walk into either a luxury brand name shop or a supermarket brand shop and being able to pick out a stylish white t-shirt over the plain white t-shirt or a stylish shirt over a plain shirt. What makes it stylish is that there are risks involved. And also being able to pick out a design and choosing the right fabrics for that particular design snd being able to mix fabrics into the designs. To me that is my idea of stylish.
Well said.
I think you are fantastic and I love your style! And if I wasn’t a native Texan, I would agree with you on all of it…except cowboy boots!😂 But yes, you have to keep them classy. It’s just that here in Texas, they are classics.
Very useful video, thank you. I agree with your dislikes, knowing what to avoid does make shopping easier and less likely to make expensive mistakes.
Watching you and listening you is a therapy I swear 🤧🙌🏻
I agree with all your comments and love ‘would you buy it if it was on a market stall’ 👍 more of these please x
My mother told me at a young age that it was better to buy fewer, really well made clothing than a bunch of cheap, cheap looking clothes!
Natural, relaxed and smart style, that's what I love about you.
One of the trends I do not like is the vinyl shoes, really uncomfortable and cheap looking.
Thanks for your lovely videos.
❤️❤️❤️ your choices & totally agree with you regarding the trends you don’t like. Those absolutely look tacky, if not cheap.
The linen set is amazing - looks so chic on you!💛
Thanks for the video! Personally, I prefer the cowboy boots (which in a North America is very much a classic, like trainers) over a co-ord which reminds me way too much of Bananas in Pajamas. Sorry, but now I have the theme tune in my head.
I really like brightness so refreshing to hear a fashion
So western style/ cow-girl boots...they can be classy/classic IF done Ralph Lauren style. Of course we keep in mind it is a western/ ranch way of life and fits if that is the environment or vibe curated. Ive seen it done smartly.
Hi Lydia, I have been subscribed to both of your platforms for some time now and I love them! Your content is wonderful, and although I am much older than you, I have learnt so much and now have my wardrobe looking and feeling like me!!!! I even have a list now of things I need to buy to put in my wardrobe and if it's not on the list I don't buy it... No more thoughtless "magpie" purchases!!!!! Sue x
Your just amazing
Too kind!!!❤
5000% agree with everything you said:) Most importantly - different strokes for different folks. Whatever floats your boat. ❤
Anyone with a classic style can relate and that includes me! Sensible tips as always.
Absolutely agree!!!
Wow.. first time I heard this example with a market and 15 pounds for the same shoe - would I buy it? I love this imaginations to really deeply think about a buy. Good tip! An yes, these shoes look cheap even if they cost 10000 pounds. Neither do they look like your feet want to even come near to them. At least mine do not want it. 😄
I agree with you at 100% about no-flattering tendencies ❤❤
I love your delivery! This one made me want to buy you a first class ticket to California to edit my closet where you might find some tye dye! 🤗 I’m learning… 💜
