For teams that have jerseys I like, I usually get them blank BUT for jerseys of my favorite team I customize them with my last name and number. I like to consider myself a part of the team and that's why I do it. I've never had a hand stitched jersey, so I recently had the Ducks RR jersey hand stitched and it looks great.

I think Reverse Retro is different then home and away. The players are only wearing it that season so it doesn't matter if they're traded anymore. But I like my jersey blank because I just like the team.

That’s a fair point about the Reverse retro! I totally see that point of view!

I completely agree ! I’m basically the same way I learned my lesson with the first Round of reverse retros I had a bunch hand stitched and a few of the players got traded so now if it’s not someone who’s gonna be around awhile or someone I really like I’ll continue getting blank. If a player gets traded then I no longer want the jersey so I sell them on eBay lol !

Think of it almost as like a tattoo. Do you like the player so much that you'll still wear it if they retire or leave? If no, go blank. I'd get a Gallagher jersey and be fine sporting it until I die lol

I AGREE WITH ALL OF THE ABOVE. 100%.
Particularly with the poor quality of Numbers and the likelihood to crease and delaminate.
Am a Black guy in GA. USA and the ONLY reason why I buy NHL jerseys is to wear them. In GA we don't have a hockey team anymore after the Atlanta Thrashers folded. Additionally, Hockey is not popular here like it is in Canada. NFL and NBA are highly favored and Baseball takes a distant 3rd.
When I do wear my hockey jerseys it's in the Winter Times and our winter months here in Georgia are a blend of Summer, Spring and some Winter. Like today 3-3-2024 it was 72° and it's impossible to wear a hockey jersey at such high temperatures. So most Ppl will resort to NBA jerseys or NFL Jerseys.
Said that to say this: Blank Jerseys are much much lighter making them wearable and comfortable here in the south. All the Name Plates and Double Digits and Even Patches not only add weight to a jersey but it diminishes breathability. Blank Jerseys are much much easier to clean and store. You can fold a blank jersey like an origami and you will not ruin it. Numbered jerseys are too delicate and require high maintenance.
    Greetings from USA 🇺🇸

  • @westcoastflyers144
    @westcoastflyers144 Před rokem +5

I feel like blank jerseys are unfinished. If it’s not a Flyers jersey I don’t care who’s on the jersey, I’ll get one with a player who isn’t on the team anymore. For my Adidas jerseys I have 2 Harts and a Konecny. So I have made sure to get players who aren’t going anywhere.

Honestly I got a 50th anniversary black skate canucks jersey as a gift given to me back in 2019 and had Hughes name and number put on it after the fact professional customization with pro quality number kit and I have had a lot of compliments on it but but the kit and customizing cost me 230 .

  • @diegovazquezdelmercado7296

New here, great content! I've always wanted to add the "A" to one of my jerseys (Maple Leafs reverse retro) and since I'm in México, it's almost impossible to get hockey stuff since it's not very popular... any ideas on how can I get that? I guess I could ship it to hockey authentic, but I guess it would be quite expensive.

  • @zachster7198

I generally get blank unless the nameplate/numbers are part of what makes the jersey unique.
For example, if I get a Rangers or Nashville jeresey, I'd generally get it stitched because of the unique fonts/designs, or my florida jersey since it's the only one (other than one Pittsburgh jersey) where the numbers are on the shoulder. Otherwise I'm good with blank for alot of the reasons you said.
Great vid as usual, keep up the great work! 👌

I only do a kit on of a player that has had a legacy career on that team. For example, I just got a Blackhawks with Toews on it. He was a significant player on the team and completely instrumental in their dynasty run. Same as my Canadiens, I bought a Dryden shirt, same reasons....and so on, other than that, blank

I honestly don't mind having jerseys with players that have been traded. They're rarer to see and showcases a specific period of that hockey team. Most of my jerseys are long time players of their respective team tho... I do agree, the pre-stitched jerseys from Adidas are garbage. However I will still grab one on ebay if I see it cheap enough. I've gotten some banger player jerseys for $50 or so and I'm okay with that. Would never pay retail tho haha. Beyond that, I do what you do and get a blank and have someone like Hockey Authentic or Sports Stitches by Ben sew up jerseys / players that I absolutely love. One good thing about keeping jerseys blank is they're a lot easier to wear. That might sound ridiculous but you don't have to worry about messing up the name or numbers on it... they're not as rigid and you can be a bit more carefree. Hockey jerseys are so fun haha

There are only a few players that I like. And most of them are retired legends mostly Rangers, Leetch, Lundqvist. Super Mario. I can see Crosby hanging it up at the end of this 2024 season.

  • @ninjadude17

The reason I get blank is costs. But I tend to customize one for myself and then if I get more I get my favorite players. In my case I also own Hurricanes jerseys of so far Dougie Hamilton, which I got at the price of a blank jersey that The Eye mispriced and my wife capitalized on, and I plan on getting Nino and Slavin since I met all 3 of them and got autographs and a picture with all 3. Even though Nino and Hamilton have left Carolina I don’t plan to forget them.

I'm the same way. I'll get one with a name and number if I really like the player a lot, but since I have an Eichel 50th anniversary Sabres in my closet that i have no interest in wearing, I'm much more careful and thoughtful about which players I'd get now.

I like my retail jerseys to be as close to the on-ice jerseys as you can buy. Some times (especially with some of the minor league teams) it means settling for a replica jersey. When I do try to get a jersey customized, I usually research it out and send it out to the company that customizes the on- ice jerseys. That way you know you are getting authentic customization. It usually cost a bit more and takes longer to get made up but the quality is usually second to none.

Broski, while I love jerseys that are complete with Names/Numbers/Special Patches, & I love blanks as well. I will tell you a funny observation. I just "had" to have "on ice" CCM/Addidas/Reebok/Koho/Nike & heres what I learned, it's very uncomfortable! I'm a Blackhawks fan, it's like a dinner plate on the front & back. So like you, I save special player jerseys, for games, & wear blanks all the time! While I don't like Fanatics, I have a Blackhawks one home red, blank, I can wear that everyday without getting hot. Now, I love stitched/premier/adizero/primegreen/ccm replicas. Blanks are FOREVER whereas I have buds that "drink the kool-aid" & pay tons of money for a player that leaves. When you wear a blank, it can be ANY PLAYER you're cheering for. Again, as a Hawks fan I have the typical Kane/Toews/Keith/Saad/Crawford/etc. Since quality has went down with Fanatics, I just wear old beaters, preserving the quality ones for special events or games. Cheers

For me I’m dirt cheap and will buy anything as long as it’s authentic so if I find a jersey with a name on it that’s been traded but it’s a team I don’t have in my collection yet I’ll buy it

I buy mine blank to get customized later. A lot of those sold customized are horrible quality. I don't want to waste my time with those.
But it is my opinion all jerseys look better with a name and number. All mine will eventually get customized by whomever does my team's customization. I couldn't care less if the player gets traded or leaves. I still appreciate what they did for my team. Especially since they helped win a Stanley Cup. Even Gretzky was traded twice. When I get customization, I never expect the player to spend the rest of their career with that team. I just bought a Reverse Retro from Cool Hockey. The player is already traded. It doesn't bother me. He was a really good player for several years. And was a big part of winning the Stanley Cup. I'll always appreciate what he did.

I prefer blank too, I don't like that a jersey represents just ONE player, who actually use tp be jist a couple of seasons in the same team. Price also, overpriced. 3:35 important too, I remember the damn Sunrise Team Store from Florida selling authentic Adidas jerseys with IRON PRESSED numbers like WTF?!?
