  • DISCLAIMER: This is NOT an official remaster or reissue from Herb Alpert Presents, or Herb Alpert himself and his team. This is a fan-made remastering project done by a fan, meant for fans. I personally did not receive any authorization from any of parties that I've specified, this is just a project I wanted to do for the sake of doing it. I am not profiting off of this in any way, and if I realistically was able to make a profit from this project, I would not do so out of respect for Herb Alpert and the people involved with the making of the original 1984 album. This project was only done for fun and to showcase my abilities and skills in audio mixing. Thank you very much for reading and understanding.
In 1984, Herb Alpert released his 1984 studio album "Bullish." With it, came the promotional tour that reunited him with the Tijuana Brass, hence their credit alongside Herb Alpert. Though as far as I'm able to research on, the Tijuana Brass wasn't actually involved in the making of the able as their contributions only really go towards the reunion tour to promote Herb's album. Regardless, Mr. Alpert still manages to find a way to bring a bit of Tijuana Brass "flavor" into the album even if it's drastically different from what he put out during his time with the Tijuana Brass. It's a fun electro synth funk album mixed in with Herb's wonderful trumpet playing, I personally like it. Gotta love the title track, it's an absolute bop and one that I've had on replay; it's really really good. Dare I say it was part of why I wanted to work on this project to begin with, alongside the fact that 2024 (this year) marks the 40th anniversary of this album. The timing could not have been any better! All eight tracks from the original album are included, in addition to four bonus tracks. These consist of a shorter mix of the title track that was released as a 7-inch vinyl single, and three remixes of the title track that were released on 12-inch vinyl. All four have never been reissued after their respective releases onto vinyl back in 1984, thus they reappear here on this fan-made 40th anniversary remaster project.
The remastering process overall was somewhat simple but a little challenging, as there wasn't anything too complicated involved when working on this. At the same time though, it was a bit of a hassle to make sure that I actually improve the quality of each track to some effective degree given how I'm not an expert in audio remastering in any way. I only really had to filter the audio by adjusting the frequencies; raising them and lowering them. Afterwards I would adjust each tracks EQ a tiny bit and then adjust the volume so that the audio not only remains dynamic, but it isn't too too loud to the point that it's unlistenable. I'm no expert at audio engineering so there's probably more suitable technical terms to use, but it is what it is and the matter of fact is, I gave it my best shot. I think the end product came out well for what it's worth, and I hope you all have the same sentiment when listening to this! :) -Delasergenerate
