  • I use a timesert style thread insert from Huhn Solutions to repair the pulled out threads in the aluminum LS block.
I didn't get it in the video but make sure to chamfer the top of the hole after threading. The tap leaves a raised spot on the deck surface where it starts cutting.

Thinkin’ you’d want to chamfer the insert threaded hole, after tapping, to make sure the top thread didn’t displace any material above the deck.
    Thanks for sharing.

I have been chamfering the top just didn't get it in the video. Like expected it does leave a nice bump where the tap starts. Thanks for pointing that out. I added a note in the video description to make sure people know to do this.

Great video! So i have the exact ls6 block i use arp bolts. What, if any, is the advantage of arp studs?

Well studs are cooler of course! LOL. Seriously I debated about which one to get. Strength wise there probably isn't much difference. Where the studs are better is when you actually torque them down. With the bolts you are screwing them into the block as you torque them down. It's hard to make sure the threads in the block are perfect and they are much more course thread than the top of the studs. With the fine threads on the top of the studs and the fact you can make sure they are perfectly clean and lubed exactly like ARP specifies you should be able to get a more precise clamp load on the head. Will it make any real world difference? Probably not.
