- Finally Camille is having her first litter of purebred Creme d'Argent rabbits! I can't wait to watch them grow! I've had so many things going on around here, so let's just do a recap on this video:
- I've begun winterizing the rabbit hutch but I still have the front left to do.

You talk to your buns as I do. I am constantly telling my girls they are good girls after having their kits. My friend, so many are after the 10, 11 and 12 kit litters. In my experience, there is always 1 or 2 that don't make it. Their average weights are down. I like the idea of adding that lip to the nest boxes. I just built 2 more the other day. I may have to try that on my next ones. Would try it on the new ones, but have 2 does due tomorrow. Congrats on all the offers you are getting. I am so glad I found your channel and see what you do in that area of the country. Will take a while to get all caught up on your channel as I do try to support others.

Thank you so much! ☺️ I do like the lip on the next box. We had a tough time with our first Creme litter with only a 50% survival rate, but I am confident things will get better from here on out. I would rather have a smaller litter with no casualties! Like you said, the bigger litters tend to have smaller average weights. I’m glad you’ve found my channel! 😊

Thank you so much! 😊 rabbit tractors are one of those things that some breeders might disagree with, but I’m careful about them. I personally believe that rabbits need to build up immunity to certain things. Many times I go with my gut on housing options. This system seems to be working well for the current season 😊

I’m raising up my first littler of meat rabbits right now and I agree it’s ok to think your meat s cute. I’m definitely getting some interesting reactions from family who think it’s weird and from people on Instagram that seem to be obsessed with seeking out meat rabbit posts and attempting to shame by commenting bunnies aren’t food. Ugh, yes they are food, everything eats rabbits.
I see that you are raising the same breeds that I do, SF & Cremes! I also play with brown Silvers, but that's a different thing. Congrats on your show wins!
Sherie Singer that’s so cool! They are the prettiest rabbits ❤️ I definitely take my SF’s more seriously than cremes, but I do think cremes need more quality breeders so I’m trying them kind of on the side. They are so cute 😊

@@Eriana-ju1jq I breed heritage silver foxes and Creme d’Argents to preserve the breed. We use them for meat, show, and breeding stock.
I line the base of my nest boxes with hay. If a baby falls out the mom has built a nest around them and they survive until I notice and put them back in the box. Try it!
chrtistinanelson29 do you mean the base of the cage? I found this baby all the way up next to the door. My nest boxes are already filled with hay.

I'd love to see a video down the road about how you process your meat rabbits. Everyone does it a little bit differently, but the premise is the same. We believe that the animals should have a great life and just one bad day. Not sure if the term "ethical omnivore" will catch on, but that's what our family aspires to. Eating meat, dairy and produce that we raise & grow ourselves. What we can't do, we purchase from local people.
My birthday already happened this month, but I always wished it was closer to Halloween! 🎃

Hey! I live near danville and might be interested in checking out how the shows work. I have a 5 year old that wants to show wants he is old enough. We currently raise silver fox for meat.

That would be awesome! Open shows can definitely be a lot of fun! If he is that young I’d recommend getting started in 4-H as soon as he can. that is how I got started in rabbits at a young age 😊
@@TealStoneHomestead yeah we plan to. I have no experience with 4H or showing. I grew up with plenty of animals but never got into that side of it.
I got 2 rex breeders and buying 4 crem da Argent breeders and one has 5 babys all pedigree exited to get them
I bred rex angora cross and I kept one she is a harlequin and she has silver eyes she is 6 months old
I think I want a rabbit now.....

I'm very happy for you, the mom, and for the silver'foxes but is it true that you sell some of your rabbits for meat or is that false info?
Thank you! Yes I breed my rabbits for meat & show purposes. They provide meat for my family. I know it can be difficult for some to understand... I know they are all cute. But I would much rather ethically raise happy rabbits for meat than blindly buy meat from the grocery store... you never know what conditions those animals were raised in, and one of my main goals in raising rabbits is to do my part in ending factory farming.
